We wear sports shoes, lightweight clothes and make it as easy as we can; we don’t weigh ourselves down with extra weight. In life we have to carry “baggage” or “stuff” that holds us back, hinders us from doing our best – each person has their own baggage; it could be a sickness we have to deal with, or a sick family member, trying to be a supportive friend to someone who needs help, being made to feel worthless or inferior or a sin that we battle with. One of the biggest traps we can fall into is comparing ourselves to others and feeling that we are not as “good” as them, dragging ourselves down. God loves us, where we are, whatever our faults and problems and when we turn to Him and ask Him to help us deal with all the baggage, He will; He will take that weight away and we will feel God’s peace. In our present scripture, Philippians 4:4-9, it tells us that the peace of God transcends all understanding. God will help us and we need to remember to turn to Him at all times, during the good times and the not so good; He is always with us. May that peace that is beyond understanding be with you today as you turn your baggage over to the One who loves you. Debbie Bish. Enjoying the Autumn season!

Running the race set before us

Running the race – what is that race? We talked

about this at Chapel last week on Sports Day.

Hebrews 12:1 tells “…And let us run with

perseverance the race set before us”. The race is

our life, the life that we have been given; this

wonderful gift which we can be thankful for,

enjoy, and live in all its fullness. The journey of

our life can take many different paths, some

expected and some unexpected and we need to be

able to travel that, accepting and dealing with all

that we face. In a sports race, we want to perform

our best and do what we can to complete the race

and complete it as well as we can. We wear sports

shoes, lightweight clothes and make it as easy as

we can; we don’t weigh ourselves down with

extra weight.

In life we have to carry “baggage” or “stuff” that

holds us back, hinders us from doing our best –

each person has their own baggage; it could be a

sickness we have to deal with, or a sick family

member, trying to be a supportive friend to

someone who needs help, being made to feel

worthless or inferior or a sin that we battle with.

One of the biggest traps we can fall into is

comparing ourselves to others and feeling that we

are not as “good” as them, dragging ourselves

down. God loves us, where we are, whatever our

faults and problems and when we turn to Him and

ask Him to help us deal with all the baggage, He

will; He will take that weight away and we will

feel God’s peace. In our present scripture,

Philippians 4:4-9, it tells us that the peace of God

transcends all understanding. God will help us and

we need to remember to turn to Him at all times,

during the good times and the not so good; He is

always with us.

May that peace that is beyond understanding be

with you today as you turn your baggage over to

the One who loves you.

Debbie Bish.

Continued thankfulness to God for the way He has met our staffing needs so far this year and now for His

wisdom as we proceed to seek someone to fill the gap as Jeff Bassett leaves at the end of this term.

For God’s wisdom for all our politicians, at all levels of Government, as they govern our nation.

Uphold those amongst our school community who are unwell.

For these weeks where a focus in our nation is on reconciliation and that we might increasingly

demonstrate God’s reconciliation in all aspects of our lives.

Thankfulness for the community of Christian schools that we are part of.

Parents and friends are welcome to a time of prayer for the school each Monday during the

school term, 9am to 9.30am, in the meeting room off the front office.

Some Special Events at RCCC this Week

The Year 9 & 10 students will participate in a resume

writing and interview technique session at school

on Tuesday morning which is being run for us by the

Echuca Moama Beacon Foundation that we are part

of. This will further prepare the young people for

Mock Interviews which will occur in a couple of weeks’

time, also at our school.

Also on Tuesday, as a gift to us from Belgrave Heights

Christian School, Steve the Robot Man is returning to

run a number of robotics workshops, this time

working along with a Belgrave Heights staff member

Allen Dickson. We are looking forward to all of our

students engaging in one or more of these sessions and

then, after school, our staff team will gather with Steve

and Allen for some professional learning.

Margaret Furlong, from Northside Christian College

in Melbourne, will again be visiting with us for a few

days. Margaret has much training and experience in the

field of Education Support and will be assisting in

identifying areas of extra need in the learning of

selected students. This will further assist in the

development of our learning plans.

On Wednesday May 29th, we will be holding a

“Futures Dinner” involving our Years 9 & 10 students

and their parents, providing further support as they

explore some of the possible paths forward beyond

Year 10 at RCCC.

Annual Report Available

As part of our school registration requirements, we

prepare and make available an annual report

regarding the operation of the College. This briefly

covers a range of areas and is different to the annual

report presented to the RCCC Inc. annual general

meeting.

This annual report is required by the school

registration authority (VRQA), posted on our website

under the “About Us” tab and also from Joan at the

school office.

The Echuca Moama Steam Rally

Our Primary students have been given the opportunity

to select a colouring-in sheet related to the Steam Rally

and more sheets are available for Primary students at

the school office if they need another one to enter the

competition.

The Echuca Moama Steam Rally is on the 8th and 9th

June 2019 at Rotary Park, Rose St, Echuca. Simply

colour in the picture, print your name and grade on

the front and your school name on the back and drop

off at the school office by Monday June 3rd for our

school to have a chance of winning a cash prize of

$500 first, $300 second or $200 third. Certificates

issued to all entrants. The best pictures will be

displayed in the Children’s Precinct at the Rally with

final judging at 3pm on Sunday 9th June. Results will

be announced on our website and

Facebook page in the week

following the Rally. At the Rally

there will be an animal nursery,

jumping castle, face painting,

horseshoe toss, puppet show, giant

dragon, jewellery making and much

more including food court, hot rods, historic machines,

working horse display and fun for the whole family.

Check out the website: echucasteamrally.com.au and

their facebook page.

RCCC Sports Day On Monday the 20th of May, River City Christian College held their annual Athletics Day. It started out

as a rainy day, but turned into a glorious afternoon with the sun shining down on us as we competed

with friendly spirits in sports including long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, hurdles, sprints and long

distance running. Students’ strengths were really highlighted, particularly Georgia Wiltshire and her

ability to jump the hurdles and come first in the event! The day wasn’t just about getting first place, it

was about getting in and having a go. We also competed to earn points for our school houses, Joshua and

Caleb. See more details below for the score count! It was a fantastic day seeing students of all ages get

amongst the fun and share in each others successes. We do apologise for any inconvenience for the

delayed start, as the rain was quite heavy at the original start time.
