Dangerous objects/actions in the studio
Hazard Prevention
Loose cables Tripping over the cables Tape the cables to the floor using gaffer tape to prevent falling over them.
Changing light attachments (e.g. snoot to softbox)
The person can get burnt as the bulbs get really hot
Take extra care when changing the attachment. Additionally, it is better to wait a while for the light to cool down.
Not enough space for the photographer, models and other staff to move in the studio.
Can cause tripping, which can lead to injuries and brakeage of equipment.
Ensure that the equipment is set up so there is still plenty of space to move around.
Food and drinksUn/plugging Make sure that all of the
powerpacks and lights and switched off and discharged to prevent
Bags and belongings Tripping over the bags or other belongings can be a hazard.
Make sure to move all of the unnecessary objects to the corners of the room to prevent stumbling over them.
Rising the lighting stand Can cause the lights to tip over and fall which can cause damage to the model (e.g. burns to the skin) or create a fire in the studio.
Use sandbags to prevent the lights from falling.
