I know I’m in the right place to achieve my career goals. I took part in the first ever

ASPIRE work experience programme, and that showed me how much Deloitte values

people. There’s a huge emphasis on personal development here, with constant

support and feedback, and a clear structure for career progression. Some of the

partners started right where I am now. Whatever level you come in at, there’s no

disparity. We work alongside graduates, on the same projects, and end up with the

same qualifications. I’m not limited by anything.

Audit & Finance

Our bread and butter. Providing outstanding finance and accounting solutions is what we’re known for. It could be auditing a client’s business or improving their financial controls, analysing financial data or working on a large-scale transformation. We’re about helping businesses of all kinds, large and small, to maintain financial integrity. And our people offer truly business-changing advice. Join us and you’ll gain world-class experience and be among the very best talent in the field.

You’ll be part of a trusted team that advises clients on their financial controls and accounting systems. It’s about reassuring senior people that they’re going about their business in the most efficient and compliant way. Inclusion Collaboration

High performance Opportunity

We think you should be able to succeed and develop at work based on your talent and attitude alone, not your ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, background, or any other personal dimension. It’s the value you bring that matters. Here, you’ll find that what makes you ‘you’ isn’t just celebrated, but nurtured too.

Our people are some of the most respected and high-achieving in the industry. But they didn’t get to such heights alone. Ours is a culture of collaboration, and collective success is valued alongside individual performance. And because our people work together closely, they become close too, supporting each other and socialising outside of the office.

From agile working to our Time Out programme, we’re committed to developing working practices that support where, when and how you work. Our approach is that of trust and respect, output – not presenteeism – and open communication. We’ll balance your needs and those of the business and your team to ensure you can balance your professional and personal priorities, ultimately empowering you to do your best work.

As a meritocratic culture, we base progression on skill, not years served. As part of this, you’ll be given every opportunity to push yourself. You’ll be exposed to new challenges and new specialisms within our business, and get to work on projects with people outside of your immediate teams. Ultimately, you’ll be encouraged to seize these opportunities and take ownership of your own career and your development within it.

Training and development

We believe it’s learning that keeps us leading. So we invest millions in training every year. In pursuit of professional qualifications, and the technical skills you need to kick-start your job, but also in your lifelong development. That means providing limitless opportunities for our people to access knowledge, with training that continues to inspire and expand our endlessly inquiring minds.

Every career path offers a different training programme, as you’d expect, with a different industry-leading, highly-transferable qualification to work towards. For Entry Level Apprentices, this can range from Level 3 City & Guilds in Business Administration to a professional finance qualification (AAT).

If you’re based in Cardiff your training will last one year, while in Milton Keynes it will be two. Both of them leading to a permanent job. You’ll be given all the time and support you need to complete these different stages. Specific entry requirements for each role, our handy hints and tips guide for the selection process, plus practice tests and details for overseas applicants, can be found at deloitte.co.uk/howtoapply

*What are service lines?‘Service lines’ relate to the services our clients buy from us. Each one is a broad category of solutions, such as ‘Audit’ or ‘Consulting’. We group them together to make it clear to clients what’s on offer. However, some of these service lines require very different people, depending on the specialist area. For example, work in ‘Consulting’ and you might be advising businesses on how to manage their finances more efficiently (Strategy & Operations) or you could be a pure Technology expert.

In this brochure, we’ve focused on types of roles – or ‘job families’ – instead. This is to give you a better idea of the kind of professional career you’ll have with us. They’re grouped by the work you’ll actually do, and the kind of professional skills, knowledge and behaviours you’ll develop in your role. Please note, when you apply for a position at Deloitte, you’ll still need to apply by service line.

Step 7: Interview BrightStart applicants are interviewed as part of the assessment day event. If you’re applying to our Scholar Scheme and you do well in your London group exercise, you’ll be invited for a face-to-face interview at your office of application.

Step 8: Final interview Impress us first time round and you’ll be invited for a final interview, where you’ll meet a senior member of staff from the business area you want to join. This will be in the office you’ve applied for. You’ll get to meet colleagues and get a good feel for the place you’ll work in.

For BrightStarts, part of your interview will be a presentation. Don’t worry, we’ll brief you on the topic beforehand, so you have plenty of time to prepare.

Your offer or feedback If we like you at interview or on selection day – and you like us – we’ll offer you a job. Welcome to Deloitte. Either way, it’s really important to us that you have a good experience. If you’re not successful, you can ask for feedback from your recruitment contact, who should provide useful advice and pointers to help you at future interviews.

Our selection process

Step 1: Online application form It’s a short form. We just need a few details about you and what you’ve achieved academically so far. Plus your preferred location and area of business interest. If you’re applying for the Scholar Scheme you’ll also be asked to complete career motivation questions.

Step 2: Game-based assessment The fun bit. You get to play Firefly Freedom: a challenge that shows you – and us – how innovative you really are. We get to find out how you think. You get a personalised feedback report that shows you where your potential lies.

Step 3: Online tests Here we’re checking that you’re comfortable working with numbers and interpreting written information, as well as your attention to detail. There are three mini tests. And you’ll be given an opportunity to practice them first. If you have any special needs you’d like us to consider, please let us know.

Step 4: Service line questionnaire* This is where you tell us which area of our business you want to work in – we call them ‘service lines’. And, if appropriate, you can also tell us which professional qualification you want to go for. Step 5: Selection day/assessment eventYou’ll learn a lot about yourself at this challenging, but enjoyable event. The half-day includes a short interview focusing on your motivation and key behaviours, followed by a fun group challenge (plus a written exercise for Entry Level Apprentices). For us, it’s about assessing your teamwork and communication skills, as both are essential to these roles. (If you’re applying for our Entry Level Apprenticeship in Cardiff, you’ll also do a second selection day with Cardiff and Vale College, as the college works closely with us to provide your training.)

Step 6: Group exercise We’re really keen to see how you work in a team, so you’ll take part in a fun group challenge. For apprentices, this is all part of your selection or assessment day event. If you’re a Scholar Scheme applicant, you’ll travel to London for your group exercise.
