• ALL FRESHMAN ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE A WORLD HISTORY I CLASS. STUDENTS CAN CHOOSE BETWEEN HONORS WORLD HISTORY I & STANDARD WORLD HISTORY. FOR STUDENTS THINKING ABOUT TAKING HONORS WORLD HISTORY I, THEY, ALONG WITH THEIR PARENTS, SHOULD CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING FACTORS:
• HOW MANY HONORS COURSES IS THE STUDENT TAKING?
• IS THE STUDENT INVOLVED IN SCHOOL EXTRA/CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES OR COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES? IF SO, HOW MANY, AND WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?

GOAL: All Woodson students should have exposure to Computer Science concepts before they graduate. Computer Science teaches problem solving and develops vital 21st century skills in a creative and relaxed setting.
Computer Science: prerequisite is Geometry, can be taken with Honors Geometry
Programming: no prerequisite, for 9th graders on regular math track
Students are excited about learning how to create technology that can reach millions and make the world a better place. It can lead to a career that is well documented to be among the most creative, flexible, satisfying, high-demand and high-paying for the foreseeable future. (Forbes, CNN Money, PayScale)
Enrolling in Computer Science early opens up the opportunity to take higher-level courses. Students can graduate with up to 4 years of CS courses.

Students who speak the language of choice at home, or have other extensive experience, should consult with Student Services at their current school. Level 1 may be too basic.
World Language Credit Exam
Students capable of writing essays in another language may be eligible for 2 credits in that language, and may start that same language in FCPS at level 3. See Student Services for more information.
• World Language Exams typically take place in November
Graduation RequirementsTo graduate with an Advanced Diploma, students must study World Languages. There are two options:
➢ 3 years of the same language
➢ 2 years of one language PLUS 2 years of another
Students who continue with their language to at least level 4 may be eligible to receive the Virginia Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma.
