Fibreglass walkway for construction or industrial markets

    Moulded

fibreglass gratingRIS moulded fibreglass grating is made

of a composite of resin and continuous

glass fibre strand and is an excellent

    alternative to conventional aluminium

and metal flooring systems due to the

inherent properties of the product which

provide a unique combination of strength,

    flexibility, chemical ad corrosion resis-

    tance, fire resistance, non-conductivity

and other highly regarded safety features.

    High strengh to

    weight ratio and

ease of installationRIS moulded fibreglass grating has a

weight ratio of one fourth that of steel

grating and two thirds that of aluminium

grating. This high strength to weight

ratio allows for ease of handling, simpli-

fies the installation process and results

in lower installation costs. An added ben-

efit is the ability to cut the product on site

without leaving any unsightly metal swarf.

    FlexibilityRIS moulded fibreglass grating has

    excellent flexibility and impact resistance.

    The square mesh construction provides

    bi-directional strength and ensures the

product can take significant loads without

    permanent deformation. As such

is an ideal product for heavy

    pedestrian or industrial traffic.

    Chemical and

corrosion resistanceRIS moulded fibreglass is manufactured

using an isophthalic resin system that

    provides excellent chemical and corrosion

    resistance to most common chemicals

    and environmental conditions.

    Maintenance free

    and high visibility

The combination of an isophthalic resinresistant to chemicals and corrosion and

the blending of pigments and UV protec-

tion throughout the grating ensures that

the RIS moulded fibreglass grating will

not require painting and will be virtually

    a maintenance-free walkway system.

The in-built paint pigment also ensures

that the product can have a high vis-

ibility which can be ideal as a designated

    walkway pathway.

Non-skid surfaceRIS moulded fibreglass grating is supplied

with a tough quartz grit surface finish that

ensures superior slip resistance even in

wet conditions and compares very favour-

ably to traditional steel or aluminium

    grated walkway systems.

    Electrically

    non-conductive

and non-sparkingRIS moulded figreglass grating has

    excellent electrical insulation proper-

ties and can be used safely in electrical

environments. Also, it will not generate

sparks when subject to impact from tools

    or equipment.

    Non-electromagnetic

    and radio frequency

    inteferenceRIS moulded fibreglass is impervious

    to electromagnetic interference and will

    not interfere with radio transmissions.

    Fire resistance

RIS moulded fibreglass has beenmanufactured to exhibit a minimum

of a Class 1 flame spread rating when

tested in accordance with ASTM E-84

    flame spread Tunnel Test.

    InstallationRIS strongly recommends that moulded

fibreglass grating is installed on top ofan aluminium support channel when

used as a dedicated walkway system

    on a metal roof.

    This installation process eliminates

the risk of fibreglass cutting into

    the protective colourbond coating

in the event of the fibreglass being

directly laid onto the metal roof,

in particular in areas of high usage.

Also it ensures that no plant matter

or industrial debris is captured and

retained in the fibreglass grating panel

which could overtime corrode the metal

    roof surface.

    RIS proprietary installation process

is designed to ensure that the fibreglass

grating panel is raised above the surface

    on an aluminium support channel.

These aluminium support channelshave been specially designed by RIS

    to be un-obstructive and aesthetically

hidden from view. This ensures that

RIS fibreglass walkway system has the

benefit of high visibility, longevity and be-

    ing virtually maintenance-free.

    CompositionRIS moulded grating is manufactured

using an Isophthalic (ISO) polyester resinthat gives the product superior chemical,

    corrosion and fire resistance properties.

    ColoursStandard colours are Safety yellow

and grey. Other colours can be

    manufactured on request.

Surface coatingA tough quartz non-slip and

    long lasting grating.

    DimensionsRIS moulded fibreglass grating

standard walkway panel size is a nominal

    612mm x 2862mm x 15mm with a square

mesh of 38mm x 38mm. Open area(ie. air flow, light penetration) is

    approximately 70%-80%.

    Other standard panel sizes are;

    1000mm x 2000mm

    1000mm x 4000mm

    1220mm x 3660mm

    Other standard thicknesses 20mm,

    25mm, 30mm, 38mm, 50mm.

    Other non-standard sizes can be

    manufactured on request.

    (Minimum order quantities required).

    ApplicationsRIS moulded fibreglass grating

has numerous applications suchas designated walkways, platforms,

    staircases and is widely used

    across many industries.

Fibreglass walkway for construction or industrial markets

Safety precautionsRIS moulded fibreglass grating can be

    easily cut using a number of standardcutting tools such as;

    Circular saw

    Panel saw

    Table saw

    Radial arm saw

    Hand-held hack saw

    (for small quantities)

The blade should be a continuous

rim cut-off blade normally used on

    masonry or ceramic products (silicon

    gritted or diamond coated blades).

In all cases always wear gloves and

general safety clothing as well as safety

glasses to protect your eyes and always

use a dust mask to reduce dust inhalation.

The dust is non-carcinogenic but might

cause some skin irritation if in contact

    with the skin.

    WarrantyRoofsafe Industrial Safety (RIS) warrants

its moulded fibreglass grating panelsto be free of defects in material and

workmanship. Should any of the panels

or parts sold by RIS become defective

within one year from the date of original

purchase, the panels and parts will be re-

placed or repaired if the defect is proven

to be the responsibility of RIS. Warranty

begins on the date of purchase from RIS.

This warranty extends to the party making

the original purchase of products from RIS

and is not enforceable by any other party.

RIS will not be liable for the cost of cart-

age, removal or reinstallation labour or

any other such costs incurred in obtaining

    warranty replacement products.

This warranty does not cover failure in

service due to improper installation, im-

    proper operation, improper environment,

    negligence, accidents, fire, wreckage,

    freezing, improper repackaging or dam-

aged incurred in shipping. RIS shall notbe liable for any injury, loss, or damage,

direct or consequential, arising out of the

    use of its products.
