Waste Management of New Mexico (WM) is giving you more options for safe, convenient
disposal in the City of Rio Rancho. Be sure to read the information in this brochure to learn
about changes to your service, including:
Paying Your BillInstead of receiving two bills a year, you will now receive a quarterly bill for your service in March, June,
September and December for the upcoming service period.
• Switch to quarterly billing
• New home pickup service for items like electronics, paint and household
chemicals, car batteries and motor oil
• Monthly landfill disposal days
• Free glass recycling drop-off at the Rio Rancho Landfill
• Discontinuation of service for delinquent accounts

$47.73+ franchise fee +tax

Make a payment from your financial institution using your customer ID. Send it to the
P.O. Box on the remittance stub.
Visit wm.com 24 hours a day to make your payment with a check, debit or credit card.
Have your invoice handy to provide your customer ID.
Mail your payment to the address on your bill.
Call WM’s Customer Service Center at 505-892-1200.
Visit WM’s office at 402 Industrial Park Loop NE in Rio Rancho. The office is open
Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. for
lunch). Payment by check or credit/debit card only – NO CASH.
Additional trash or recycling carts:
$20.43/each per quarter +franchise free + tax
Please remember to pay your bill in a timely fashion. If your account becomes 90 days past due, your service will be
discontinued until you make a satisfactory payment. Your cart will be removed and there will be an additional charge of
$50 to redeliver your cart.

Weekly Trash & Recycling Service
Place your trash and recycling carts at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your pickup day (even if your driver typically comes
later). Be sure the carts are at least three feet from any other objects, such as mailboxes, cars or other carts so that
we can safely empty them.
Restricted Items
NEW! Glass Recycling Drop-off at Landfill
Rio Rancho Landfill now offers a free drop-off site for glass bottles during normal
business hours. DO NOT put glass in your recycling cart.
2018 Observed Holiday Schedule
During a holiday week, service will be delayed by one day for all days that fall on or after an observed holiday. Pickups
will occur on Saturdays. Normal schedule will resume the following week.
Do not put hazardous waste, chemicals, medical waste, construction material, electronics, car batteries, or automotive
fluids in your trash or recycling cart. Improper disposal could lead to fires or explosions. Please dispose of other items
as noted below. More about each service is detailed later.

up space? Now it’s easy and convenient to get them out of the way with At Your Door Special Collection® Service.
It’s as easy at 1-2-3:

or visit wmatyourdoor.com to find out the many items that can be
collected and schedule your pickup.
We’ll send you a collection kit with instructions on how to label and
where to place your items.
Gather your items and place them on your front door area or
outside the garage before 7 a.m. on your pickup day. You don’t
even need to be home!

Acceptable Materials for Collection Include:
• Automotive Products: Used motor oil, oil filters and batteries
• Garden Chemicals: Pesticides, herbicides, weed killers
• Paint Products: Oil-based and latex paints, spray paint and wood stains
• Household Cleaners: Tile/shower cleaner, upholstery cleaners, rust remover and more
• Swimming Pool chemicals
• Electronics: TV’s, computers, monitors and more
• Household Batteries
• Fluorescent tubes and Compact Fluorescent Lamps(CFL)
• Thermometers and thermostats containing mercury
This services does not include materials in leaking containers, biological waste, appliances, trash, tires, ammunition, asbestos,
any medicines/pharmaceuticals or radioactive materials. This is a residential program only; no business materials will be
collected.

Additional Residential Services
Bulky Item Collection Need to get rid of appliances (white goods), furniture or other large items? WM will collect on the first Saturday of the month for an additional fee. To schedule pickup, call 505-892-1200 by 3 p.m. of the collection week.
Free Glass Drop-off Rio Rancho Landfill now offers a free drop-off site for glass bottles and jars. Residents can bring unlimited quantities of clean glass bottles and jars to the Rio Rancho landfill during normal business hours.
Important: DO NOT put any glass in your recycling cart. Bring glass to the landfill for free recycling.
Yard WasteWaste Management provides free yard waste pickup in the Spring and Fall, and on the second Saturday of each month for a fee. To schedule pickup, call WM at 505-892-1200. For second Saturday pickup, call by 3 p.m. Wednesday on collection week.
Free Spring 2018 Clean Up:April 2-6 (schedule by 3/29)
Free Fall 2018 Clean Up:October 1-5 (schedule by 9/27)
Acceptable items include grass clippings, leaves, tree branches (broken into a manageable length), and brush. Must be cut, bundled and tied at 50 lb. maximum weight and 4 ft.maximum length.
Additional Residential ServicesNo limbs larger than 3 inches in diameter. Non-acceptable items include dirt, stone, concrete and rocks.
Special Benefit for Rio Rancho Residents: Free Monthly Landfill Access
Residents receive free disposal of up to 1,000 lbs. of household waste at Rio Rancho Landfill one time each month. Any loads over 1,000 lbs. will be charged gate rate for the excess amount. Residents also receive unlimited, free disposal of clean dirt. Clean dirt disposal does not count against free monthly disposal limit.
Important Notes
Proof of residency is required. Be sure to bring valid photo ID and one additional document showing residency, e.g. current utility bill, current WM bill, etc., with Rio Rancho address. Address or name on bill must match photo ID.
Free access is allowed once per month per household. Unused disposal does not roll over or accrue to future months.
Only approved, residential wastes will be accepted. Prohibited items include household hazardous waste (paint, automotive chemicals, pesticides, batteries, etc.), appliances with Freon, bulk liquids, and commercial/business waste.
Maximum of four tires per load accepted.
Safety Reminder
At Waste Management, safety is our top priority. Please follow all posted safety rules and follow any instructions from landfill staff. To ensure safety for our customers and employees, our landfill may close during high wind events or severe weather. If the weather is poor, please call ahead before loading your truck to ensure the landfill is open: 800-963-4776.
