Riko offers a wide range of log splitters for both domestic and professional users. The 7 ton models are available with 240vlt electric motor or petrol engine. The 9 ton comes as standard for use with the tractor hydraulics but can be supplied with a 240vlt electric motor or petrol engine kit with wheels. The kit sits under the splitter so raises the table height. The 10 ton has a 240vlt electric motor or petrol engine and is available with a fixed height table or adjustable height table. The 12 ton model comes as standard for use with the tractor hydraulics but can be supplied with a PTO kit, 240vlt electric motor, petrol engine or even a combination of power sources. As long as the wiring at the premises is of a suitable standard all 240vlt electric splitters can be plugged into a standard 13amp 3 pin plug.

The larger Titanium range have splitting forces from 13 to 26 ton will take timber up to 115cm in length so there is a splitter for all types and sizes of timber. They have a variable height and removable table so you can split rings or billet long timber. There is also a timber lifter which means you can role larger timber onto the lifter, and the hydraulic splitting ram then provides the power to stand the large timber up ready for splitting under the knife. On all Titanium splitters the splitting knife can be stopped at any point without the ram retracting, then a simple push on the control handles and the ram retracts. There is also an adjustable stop so you can set the return stroke to stop at a given height. This greatly increases overall output when splitting short rings as you don’t have to wait for the ram to travel its full stroke. Options include: 4 way knives. Axles for moving the larger splitters around a yard or estate. Hydraulic winch to drag timber across to the splitter.

whilst being split. The log is held centrally on

the splitting beam whilst the knife splits the log.

2) The split log can then be rotated 90 degrees so one split half is lying on top of the other split half. The knife then splits the log the second time on

the return stroke.

3) The unique end stop actually grips the log and allows the log to open up as the knife splits the log. This design helps prevent

wat we call ‘kick outs’

4) There are Split-Fire models that have a single two sided knife. However there are also models that have an interchangeable single and four-way two

Split-Fire log splitters are available with 16, 20 and 32 ton splitting force. Standard models are tractor linkage mounted and use the tractor hydraulics. Riko vertical trailed splitters have been designed specifically for the user that needs a mobile splitter for working in various locations. The most popular model is the petrol engine UF14BMF with removable table. Its low overall height & under 750Kg weight means the splitter is ideal for tree surgeons and hire shops. Options include a slide over 4 way knife.

Riko horizontal trailed splitters are designed for high volume production of logs and billets. Available from 14, 18 and up to 23 ton splitting forces. They all come as standard with a solid ‘yard tow’ axle and splitting

length of 1.1 metre, however the 18 ton can be ordered with a splitting length of up to 2 meter and the 23 ton up to 2.5 meter. There are various options such as a drop on 4 way knife or hydraulic 4 way knife, timber loader and all models are available with an upgrade to road tow with fully approved IVA.

splitter with PTO drive. It has been designed to be towed behind small compact tractors that do not have the linkage lift capacity or oil flow to operate a log sized log splitter. The splitting length is 550cm and it comes as standard with a height adjustable four way knife. Hydraulic adjustable knife is an option. If you don’t have a tractor the ‘Speedy 550’

can be supplied with a petrol engine. It is also available with an upgrade to road tow with fully approved IVA.

Small cone splitters are not a new thing, however large hydraulic drive cone splitters are. They can be fitted on any type of crane, handler or excavator for billeting long timber or breaking down large diameter timber into billets for processing or further splitting. Fitted to the leg of a forwarder, long timber can be split down as the trailer is loaded to maximise the volume loaded onto the trailer. They are also ideal for braking down ‘ugly’ timber or roots into smaller parts to feed into a grinder or chipper. Extracting big roots often requires a big machine, but using a cone splitter on a small excavator, the roots can be broken up whilst in the ground, enabling the small machine to then hook them out.

Riko logging saws come in three models the ‘LIGHT, ‘PRO’ and the ‘PRO-PLUS’. The circular saw blades are 700mm diameter and Tungsten tipped for long life. For easy moving wheels and handle/s are standard on all models. For extra safety all models are fitted with a log grip. The Pro models have a trough extension and a fixed log length cut indicator. The Pro-Plus model has an adjustable log length cut indicator. Safety cut system so you cannot cut without one hand being on the trough handle, combined with the log grip this gives total two handed use. The LIGHT is 240vlt whilst the PRO and PRO-PLUS models are available as PTO, 240vlt or 3 phase electric or with a petrol engine. The PRO-PLUS Petrol engine model is also available as a road tow with full IVA approval.

BAND SAWS. Riko band saws come in four different sizes. They can be powered from the tractor PTO or from single or 3 phase electric. There is also the option for PTO and electric power. There is a choice of blades and guide rollers for precision cutting. The optional log trough makes the band saw truly versatile.

RIKO combination saw and elevator model has a variable height telescopic conveyor that is driven hydraulically from the tractors own spool valve, or from the built-in optional PTO hydraulic pack. A 3 phase and petrol engine version is also available. The petrol engine version can have a yard tow axle kit added. In all cases, a pair of extending, height adjustable legs support the conveyor when it is extended. The whole machine folds up for easy transport & storage.

The Riko ranges of conveyors are available to suit logs or chip and pellets. The standard models are for logs and can be used alongside log splitters, logging saws, band saws etc. The professional models have a choice of belt widths of 250mm or 400mm and are available in 4 and 5 meter lengths. Longer length non telescopic models can be ordered. They are all variable height and come with wheels and a drawbar. They can be powered by electric, hydraulic or petrol engines. The petrol powered saw and conveyor can also have a solid axle and tow bar fitted for yard towing or road towing behind a tractor. A high speed road tow version is available with full IVA approval.

Designed and built for working on the mountains of Europe, Alpine tractors are perfectly suited to work in all aspects of forestry, woodlands and ground care. Their low centre of gravity provides vastly improved stability over a conventional tractor.

With the engine positioned in front of the front axle, the wheelbase is shorter than a conventional tractor, improving the turning radius. It acts as a counter balance to the rear linkage, thus providing excellent lifting capacity and towing ability for their size and weight. And with engine sizes from 22hp up to 97hp, Alpine tractors are packed with power.

Unlike conventional tractors with a rigid chassis and a pivoting front axle, the Alpine tractor chassis oscillates just behind the front axle. This ensures both front and rear axles follow the contours of the ground, maintaining traction and stability in the most arduous of conditions.

RIKO COMBY Processors are a basic machine consisting of a tungsten tipped saw blade and 15 ton horizontal log splitter. They can also be ordered with a telescopic conveyor. There are 2 models to choose from, the COMBY PRO-2010 TSC and the COMBY PRO-PLUS TSC 4/5. The Comby range is designed to provide a low cost, but very efficient processor with a very respectable 15 tons splitting force. They are ideally suited to processing ‘hedgerow’ timber that is often in short lengths, twisted and knotty, hence the 15 ton splitter.

On all models the saw blade is driven by the PTO shaft, which also drives a hydraulic pump and tank to power the splitter. On the Pro the conveyor uses a single acting flow and return from the tractor but there is an upgrade kit so everything runs of the PTO drive. This kit is standard on the Pro-Plus so even if it’s an old tractor with a PTO but no hydraulics it can still run the Pro or Pro-Plus.

The Comby Processor Range is available with a solid axle and draw bar for towing around the estate or yard with a tractor or other suitable vehicle. They are not available as a high speed road tow version.

The Riko Titan 40-20 Firewood Processor is PTO powered as standard and an be ordered with 3 phase and PTO. There are no electronic controls on the Titan 40-20, all the controls are directly operated joystick and single lever hydraulic spool valves. The Titan cuts up to 40cm diameter timber using a belt driven, hydraulic operated, Tungsten tipped circular saw blade. Once cut the log drops onto a holding plate that then tips the log into the splitting. This almost eliminates the problem of logs dropping into the splitting chamber the wrong way. Once in the splitting trough the log is pushed with a force of 20 tons through the hydraulic height adjustable ‘window’ knife. There is a choice of 2/4, 2/6, 2/8 or 2/12 way window knives.

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) requires Firewood to be dried to below specific moisture contents. For Kiln dried Firewood it is<20% moisture content and for naturally dried it is <25% moisture content. The better the air circulation the quicker the Firewood will season. Billets win hands down over logs, even if the logs are loose, bagged or boxed. Billets are far easier to handle, stack and store. They season quicker and give you the benefit of being able to cut any length log from the seasoned Billet so you are not limited to pre-set log lengths associated with a traditional Processor.

There are three main models of Rotary Billet Rotomat: The Pro-Plus Drum saw with four Billet tubes, the Rotomat 4 with four Billet tubes and Rotomat 5 with 5 Billet tubes. All can be powered by a tractor PTO or by a 3 phase electric motor and can be ordered with or without the telescopic conveyor. The Rotomat 4 can also be ordered as a road tow with petrol engine. The R5 takes Billets up to 120cm long & cuts logs to 20/25/33/50cm. With a maximum of 72 cuts per minute the R5 can process up to 15 cm/h of Billets. The R4 takes Billets up to 100cm long & cuts logs to 20/25/28/33cm. With a maximum of 68 cuts per minute the R4 can process up to 10 cm/h of Billets. The Pro-Plus drum saw cuts logs to a length of 25cm to 50cm. Depending on type of wood etc. the manufacturer claim an out put of up to 11 tons per hour.

The design of the Riko Billet Processors ensures simplicity of use whilst maintaining operator safety. It is as simple as it is ingenious: there are tubular compartments built into a rotating drum, the billet lengths are simply dropped into each chamber as it rotates. As the drum rotates each billet is cut drops down a preset amount so that each cut produces a log the same length. The Tungsten tipped circular saw blade then cuts the Billet and the cut log is discharged into the area above the conveyor belt. As the drum continues to rotate the next Billet is cut and each Billet drops down further ready to be cut on the next rotation. This process continues as the drum rotates and it is simply a case of placing another Billet in the tubular compartments as the drum continues to rotate. The Riko Billet Processors ensures:-

One of the fastest ways to dry timber is to cut it into one meter lengths and then split into billets. The Billet Bundler is designed to enable you to create 1 cubic meter bundles that can easily be handled and stacked in much the same way as large round bales. Individual 1 meter cut lengths of timber are placed onto the carrier frame. Once full, the bundle is held secure by nylon straps that are tensioned and then secured using a hand held tensioning ratchet and tool. Once secure, the bundle can be manually tipped onto the ground.

The standard Billet Bundler mounts on the tractors 3 point linkage and is manually tipped once loaded. There is a hydraulic tipping option and a front loader mounting option.

Riko Forest-master forestry mulching flails are a heavy forestry mower with cage rotor with hammer blades that can swing back into the rotor when the hit obstacles that cannot be mulched. Due to there low weight of 430-620Kg they are ideally suited for use with Alpine Tractors. They are used for mowing or pulverising bushes and young trees. Ideally suited for working between young plantation, preparing and maintaining towing paths or forest rides, fire-corridors, mowing and pulverising before replanting or for cultivating fallow areas. The Forest-master can be ordered for use used / mounted in both directions, forwards or backwards. It comes in 3 widths.

The Scorpion 1300F and 1800F both fit front end loaders and have a hydraulic rotator. They are fitted with a 12vlt diverter valve so require only one DA hydraulic service. The Scorpion 1300F fits on the three point linkage on tractors 30-70hp. The larger Scorpion 1800F is for 70HP+ tractors and also fits front loaders etc. When they are fitted on the rear linkage both can be supplied with a radio remote controlled winch for pulling inaccessible timber to the grab. The largest 3 point linkage skidders are the Scorpion PRO models. The have extending booms that can slew sideways for increased ease of access and flexibility when loading. There are mechanical and hydraulic slewing / extending options and the PRO3 comes with its own spool valve levers.

There are five models of Riko timber grabs and they are suitable for large front loaders or telescopic handlers. With the relevant brackets, they can fit all makes of loaders and handlers:

Felling Heads are suitable for tractor mounted cranes, forwarders, dedicated harvesters and excavators. The smallest Felling head is the UFRK250 which weighs 220Kg and the grab opens to 100cm tip to tip. It will cut 25cm in softwood and 20cm in hardwood. The UFRK250 can be fitted to a rotator or directly to the hitch of a 360 excavator. The largest Felling Head APPTC300 which weighs 770Kg and is for fitting to large 360 excavators directly or with a work and gear rotator. It can be fitted with a 300mm blade which will cut 30cm, or a 400mm blade which will cut 38cm. The grab opens to 139cm tip to tip.

Riko Harvesting Heads. There are models suitable for tractor mounted cranes, forwarders, dedicated harvesters and excavators. They fell the tree and then using a stoke action de-limb and cut the timber to length. The range starts with the S23 which weighs 230 Kg, the largest weighs 380Kg and has additional Grip rollers that double the speed of the stroke and therefore doubles the output speed.

RIKO S23 Felling & S23 Logging head. Fells like the RS25 and has an optional adaptation for the blade that splits the log in half when it is cut to length. The S23 weighs 230Kg and is suitable for forestry cranes and 5-8 ton 360 excavators. If the forestry crane is roof mounted or mounted on a ‘Jake plate’ there is an option bag carrier for the tractor linkage or you can log into a suitable bulk trailer or vehicle. A key feature of the S23 is that it only uses the grab outlets on the rotator and no electrics.

The Riko Kinetic 8 X 8 is a low impact forwarder. The Kinetic has been designed as a serious, high output, professional machine for low impact work by forestry owners and contractors. The standard build includes crane, grab, rotator and the hydraulic extending chassis to reduce the length for transport to 5187mm from the working length of 5787mm. The weight is around 2100Kg with a carrying capacity of 3000Kg. The load area is hydraulically extending, which allows you to optimise the bunk area to suit for the timber length being loaded. It is powered by a 26hp 3 cylinder Diesel engine, with smooth and quite low fuel cost and longevity. The transmission is a mechanical gearbox with four forward and one reverse driving, a ‘Vario’ transmission for clutch-less drive from stationary to full speed in each gear. The operator has full control of steering and forward / reverse drive whilst seated in the crane operating position. 8 equal size wheels mean you can fit four band tracks for a super low footprint. Some similar machines have single front wheels and four rear wheels meaning you can only fit band tracks on the rear wheels.

Riko trailers are designed to be low impact, easily transportable and have a capacity from 1000Kg to 5000Kg, with a choice of cranes from 3.2 to 4.8 meters. There are two designs, one with a single central beam and the stronger Ladder chassis models that have the advantage of being able to fold in half so the trailer and tractor can be transported on a road trailer etc. The cranes can be mounted on the trailer or on the tractor 3 point linkage.
