PRESIDENT'S MESSAGEOne of the things I've enjoyed most during the

past year and a half is receiving phone calls frompeople interested in joining PCA. Some tell me thatthey've heard about PCA for years, but have neveruntil now been able to find us; others have beenreferred to Us by Porsche-Audi dealers in the region;our blurb in PHILADELPHIA Magazine has been the keyto our whereabouts for an increasing number of newmembers, and the Executive Office in Alexandria, VAfrequently notifies us of area Porsche owners whohave expressed their interest in PCA directly toNational.

Whatever the source of prospective membersmight be, few fail to express their amazement whenthey hear about our activities and a good percentageultimately become Riesentoter Region members. Further, I think our new members are participating withmore regularity than in the past. No longer can wepredict with remarkable accuracy just who will showup at the next tech session, social get-together orsprint.

Credit for this favorable turn of events must

go to those Riesentoters who have outdone themselveslately in staging activities sind programs that display a great deal of imagination and good planning.Credit must also go to those who are handling thevarious administrative functions of the Region withsimilar skill and dependability.

Midway through 1975f I would like to congratulate everyone who has had a hand in making Riesentoter Region an organization that is truly responsive to the membership. Soon we'll be nominatinga new slate of officers for 1976. If things continue, they'll find that 1975 will be a tough yearto beat, but with the kind of talent we have onboard, I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen.

Herb

I lOO'S AT LIME ROCK

L lead till the end.

Qualifications were held Saturday. Peter was

' fastest, so he had the pole. Hans Stuck was second,

A1 third, and Sam Posey, in the other BMW, fourth. As for the Monzas, in the Ail-American GT Class, the

only really competitive one was carried off in a

junk scoop when Greek shipping magnate, track owner, and owner-driver of the car, Harry T. (T. for Theo-

dorocopulos) lost it in the woods on the uphill turn.

. The other Porsches looked only good to fair, the

Corvettes not too good, with no big "monsters"

there. Paul Newman drove a Ford Escort, but didn't

seem too competitive against the big German iron.

Sam Posey qualified Saturday, flew to Indian

apolis to help broadcast the 500 on Sunday, and flew

back to Lime Rock to race on Monday. No time zone

change, but that travelling has got to be hard on

anyone. He took fourth in both races, but either

he or the car was getting tired in the .second heat,

and wsis nearly lapped by Peter and Al. ,

One thing I must say, BMW has really put

together some super-fast, cars for this series, and

they are really going to give Porsche a run for the

money this .year. 1975 may prove to be one of the

best years yet for road racing.

This trip to Connecticut was one of the most

enjoyable weekends I've had in a long time.

Results of Goldmine Hillclimb, run on April 2627, are as follows:

Jay Schneider 5th, Touring IDick Sweigart 3rd, EP II

Jess Holshouser 4th, EP II

Connie Sweigart 6th, EP II

Wally Bogart 2nd, CP

Tom Beil 1st, Mod II

Dave Derecola 7th, Mod II

A1 Derecola 8 th, Mod II

Gerald Sigal DNS

Ted Klaus 1st, Formula I

As I mentioned in the previous issue, ten of5ur twelve drivers made it to Goldmine ~ a goodturnout.

Pine Grove Hillclimb was run May 10 and 11 ingreat weather — again* I wfiis not there as wereoany others for various reasons. Tom Beil 6i6 usualtook 1st in Mod II. Ted Klaus in a real battle for1st in Formula I led all the way until the last runto finish 2nd. Wally Bogart in a battle for CPdamaged his engine and had to withdraw with a 3rd.tonly three of twelve competed!)

By the time you read this, the 25th running ofDuryea Hillclimb will have ipassed — so try to make3iant*s Despair Hillclimb, July 26 and 27* Thesite is a few miles south of Wilkes Barre. Take US309 south of Wilkes Barre and turn left to gothrough a town called Laurel Run. To make thatleft hand turn, you take an obscure jug handle tothe right just after passing a drive-in movie onyour left. After the left, you are about two milesfrom the site. You can't miss it for the road willbe blocked. See you there.

I]'] mI spent Memorial Day weekend in New England,

watching the Camel GT Twin lOO's, the Gold Cup Form

ula Vee Race and the B.F.Gopdriqh Radial Tire Chal

lenge, all together making up the Schaefer 350«

Once it warmed up, the weather couldn't have been

better. About 40 Riesentoters made the 200 mile

trip to watch the Porsches win. A report of the

Twin TOO*S is this month's feature article.

Beginning with this issue, we are taking busi

month at a time for those who don't want a twelve

these is hillclimber Dick Sweigart, who operates

Horseless Carriage Repairs in Perkasie, Pa^ The

cost is a mere S5»00 per month. To place one of

these ads^ get a card and a check to me by the

first of the month. The check should be payable

to "Riesentpter Region, PCA."

Also, send any classified ads to me by the

first of the month. The classified section is a
