EVALUATION – CAN WE HELP?

•Process evaluation• You obviously want to know how you are doing: what is right and

what is wrong? Something to be improved?

•Outcome / impact evaluation• You obviously want to know if your goals have been achieved• You obviously wish to know if your project has made the desired

effects• And of course you would like to know if your project is sustainable

METHODSExternal evaluator is not a member of the project that he is evaluating, thus:

• He joins the project only for a shorter period of time • He is able to keep objectivity and relative independence during the evaluation process• Therefore he provides a relatively more objective feedback

The main focus of the external evaluation is

• To analyze the attainment of the general and specific objectives of the project

• To analyze the outputs, deliverables of the project

• To analyze the outcomes, impacts of the project

• To analyze the work of the specific work packages

BACKGROUND: RIDS

• Established in 2004 at ELTE University, Hungary • Originally an institute to carry out research on illicit drug use• Later started to carry out monitoring and evaluation of drug-related projects• Expanded its scope to evaluate large-scale health-related projects• RIDS members have both field-work and research experience• Good relations with non-profit organisations both on national and

international level • Strong ties with the National Focal Point (www.drogfokuszpont.hu) and the

EMCDDA (www.emcdda.europa.eu)
