    2.1 Installing the steering wheel

    1. Slidethesteeringwheeloverthesteeringshaftandaligntherollpinholes.

    2. Insertadriftpunchpartiallythroughtheholesto maintainalignmentandinserttherollpin.3. Drivetherollpininuntilflushwiththeoutsideofthe

    steeringwheel.

    2.2 Installing the stoneguard (ReferFigure2.2)

    1 Slip the stoneguard spring on to the long leg of thestoneguardpivotrod.

    2. Twistthestoneguardspringandinsertthelonglegofthestoneguardpivotrodintotheforwardpivotbracketofthecutterhead.

    3. Slidethestoneguardbacktoinserttheshortlegofthestoneguardpivotrodintotherearpivotbracketofthecutterhead.

    4. Releasethestoneguardspring.5. Fit the“E”clip to thegrooveon the short legof the

    stoneguardpivot.

    1 Remove thebattery from themower, and removefillercaps.

    2. Add33%strengthbatteryelectrolytetoeachcellofthebatteryuntiltheplatesarecovered.

    CAUTION

    Do not overfill the battery.Acidwilloverflowontootherpartsofthemachineandseverecorrosionwillresult.

    3. Charge the battery at 4amps/hour for a minimum of 6 hours.4. Whenthebatteryischarged,checkthattheplatesare

    coveredwithelectrolyte,ifnot,addelectrolytetothecorrectlevel.Fitfillercapstobattery.

    5. Refitthebatterytothemower.6. Connectthebatteryleadstothebattery:REDtothe

    positive(+)terminal,BLACKtothenegative(‑) terminal.

    2.4 Priming the Hydrostatic Drive (ReferFigure2.3)

    CAUTION

    Thehydrostatic drivemust be primedbyanauthorisedRoverServiceDealerbeforeinitialuse.

    1. MovetheDumpValvetothefreewheel position.2. Starttheengineandreleasethebrakeclutch.3. Move the throttle control to approximately ½

    throttle.

    4. Depressthefootoperateddrivepedalandholddown-for5secondsintheforwardpositionandthen

    release.

    5. Depress the foot operated drive pedal and holddownfor5secondsinthereversepositionandthenrelease.

    6. Repeatsteps4&5threetimesineachdirection.

    7. SwitchtheengineOFFandremovekeys.

    8. ReturntheDumpvalvetothedrive position.

    CAUTION

    MovingtheDumpValvetothefree-wheelpositionallowsthemowertobemovedaroundfreely.

    2. Theenginewillstopiftheoperatorleavestheseatwiththedriveselectorengagedand/orthecutterheadengagedandortheparkbrakeisnotlockedon.

    4. BEFORE STARTING

    4.1 Engine lubrication

    Theengineoillevelmustbecheckedbeforeattemptingto start the engine.Refer to the engine manufacturer’s instructions.

    1. Positionthemoweronaleveldrysurface,removetheignitionkeyandapplytheparkingbrake.

    2. Openthebonnetandcleanaroundtheoilfiller.3. Check the oil level in accordancewith the engine

    manufacturers instructions and add recommendedgradeofoil.

    5.4 Engaging clutches

    Toavoidlossofcontrolalwayscometoacompletestopbeforechangingdirectionandslowdownbeforeturning.

    5.5 Hydrostatic Drive pedal control (ReferFigure5.1)

    Becausethehydrostaticdriveisdesignedforeasyandvariablecontrol it issimplyamatterofpressingthefootpedal(forwardtogoforwards),(backwardstotravelinre-verse)orrestingthepedalinneutraltostopthemachine..However the following tipswill help you to control themachineandreducetheriskofdamageoraccidents.

    1. Useyourtoestocontrolforwardandyourheeltocontrolreversedirectionoftravel.

    2. Alwaysoperatethepedalsmoothlyandslowly whenmovingoffandwhencomingtoastop.

    3. Alwayskeepyourfootonthepedalwhenstopping. Liftingyourfootwillcausethemachinetostopsuddenly

    andthrowyouforwardorbackwards(dependinguponyourdirectionoftravel).

    4. Alwayspauseinneutral whenchangingfrom forwardtoreverseorreversetoforward.

    2.DrilloutthetworetainingrivetswhichholdtheBrakepadassembly to thespringplateanddiscard theoldbrakepadbackingplate.

    3.Thereplacementbrakepadsarefittedwithachemicallybondedbackingplate,locatethisbackingplateagainstthespringplateandretainwithtwo3/16"rivets.PartNo:A2901195.

    4.Replace thebrakeplate to the ride‑onandcheck theoperationofthecutterheadbrakeasinSection6.17.

    11.Gentlyjackuptherearoftheride‑onoffthehydrostaticunitandremove.

    ignition key.2. Lowerthecutterhead.3. Loosenthefixedidlerpulleyfastenersandslidetheidler

    pulleytowardsthecentreofthechassisfivemillimetres,tightenthefastenersandchecktheclutchrodfreeplay.Iftheclutchrodfreeplayisincorrect,repeattheprocedureandcheckagainRefertoFigure6.4a.

    4. Aftertheadjustmentsarecarriedout,checkthatthefixedidlerpulleybeltguideissetat900tothechassisside.

    Oncetheidlerpulleyhasreacheditsfulladjustmentanditisfoundthattheclutchrodfreeplayislessthan5mm,thedrivebeltwill have stretchedbeyond its useable servicelimitandwillneedtobereplaced.

    5.5 Hydrostatic Drive pedal control (ReferFigure5.1)

    Becausethehydrostaticdriveisdesignedforeasyandvariablecontrol it issimplyamatterofpressingthefootpedal(forwardtogoforwards),(backwardstotravelinre-verse)orrestingthepedalinneutraltostopthemachine..However the following tipswill help you to control themachineandreducetheriskofdamageoraccidents.

    1. Useyourtoestocontrolforwardandyourheeltocontrolreversedirectionoftravel.

    2. Alwaysoperatethepedalsmoothlyandslowly whenmovingoffandwhencomingtoastop.

    3. Alwayskeepyourfootonthepedalwhenstopping. Liftingyourfootwillcausethemachinetostopsuddenly

    andthrowyouforwardorbackwards(dependinguponyourdirectionoftravel).

    4. Alwayspauseinneutral whenchangingfrom forwardtoreverseorreversetoforward.

    Brake locked on. d)Theoperatorisseated.

    2. Theenginewillstopiftheoperatorleavestheseatwiththedriveselectorengagedand/orthecutterheadengagedandortheparkbrakeisnotlockedon.

    WARNING

    1. DONOToperate themower if thesafetysystembecomesdefective.

    ContactthenearestRoverauthorisedservicedealeroragenttorectifytheproblem.

    4. BEFORE STARTING

    4.1 Engine lubrication

    Theengineoillevelmustbecheckedbeforeattemptingto start the engine.Refer to the engine manufacturer’s instructions.

    1. Positionthemoweronaleveldrysurface,removetheignitionkeyandapplytheparkingbrake.

    2. Openthebonnetandcleanaroundtheoilfiller.3. Check the oil level in accordancewith the engine

    manufacturers instructions and add recommendedgradeofoil.

    4. Cleanupanyspiltoilandreplacetheoilfillercapandclosethebonnet

    1 Remove thebattery from themower, and removefillercaps.

    2. Add33%strengthbatteryelectrolytetoeachcellofthebatteryuntiltheplatesarecovered.

    CAUTION

    Do not overfill the battery.Acidwilloverflowontootherpartsofthemachineandseverecorrosionwillresult.

    3. Charge the battery at 4amps/hour for a minimum of 6 hours.4. Whenthebatteryischarged,checkthattheplatesare

    coveredwithelectrolyte,ifnot,addelectrolytetothecorrectlevel.Fitfillercapstobattery.

    5. Refitthebatterytothemower.6. Connectthebatteryleadstothebattery:REDtothe

    positive(+)terminal,BLACKtothenegative(‑) terminal.

    2.4 Priming the Hydrostatic Drive (ReferFigure2.3)

    Neverremovethecapofthefueltankoraddpetrolwhiletheengineisrunningortheengineishot.Removefuelcapslowlytorelieveanytankpressure.Ifpetrolisspilled,donotattempttostarttheenginebutmovemachineawayfromtheareaofthespillandavoidcreatinganysourceofignitionuntilpetrolvapourshavedissipated.

    • Checkforfuelleakswhilerefuellingorusingthemower.Ifafuelleakisfound,donotstartorruntheengineuntilthefuelleakisfixedandspilledfueliswipedaway.
