You may have noticed our next big project which is well underway, our Nature Play area! All progressing well we should be able to access this area half way through this term, weather permitting. We are also making improve- ments to our existing playground and hall wall space. Did you know that during the holidays the majority of our staff accessed learning opportunities of their own? This included courses on special edu- cation, cultural competencies, English genre writing, phonics training, listen- ing to authors and mathematicians and first aid training. It is wonderful to see our staff demonstrating lifelong learning. Some recent changes to staffing; Glenn Hart will be working as a Behaviour Support Coach, assisting numerous schools outside of our region, full time until the end of this year. The role of Richmond Primary School’s student wellbeing coordinator has become available and may be filled by one of our own teachers shortly. We will keep our community informed accordingly. Additionally, Alicia Sobol will be supporting teachers with larger student numbers one day each week. We recently received confirmation that Hon John Gardner MP, Minister for Education, will be in attendance for our official STEM Opening, Week 3 Friday morning, 10th August. We are hoping to attract a large community presence with a series of short speeches followed by parents visiting STEM facilities in action and include morning tea. An invitation with more de- tails may be found in this newsletter. Please rsvp to the STEM Open- ing event prior to Thursday 9 th August via this link so we can provide accu- rate seating and catering, thank you. https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au This is NOT for interviews, it is for an event booking. Please use event code 6yed6. Late last term Ms Diana, David, Cullen, Sandro, Ayla and Ms Jodi represent- ed our school as part of 3D Printing in Schools Showcase Day at the Ade- laide Convention Centre. Over 500 teachers, students and invited guests joined together to exchange ideas and celebrate the ways 3D printing could be used to solve real-world problems in schools and communities. It was an outstanding teacher and student accomplishment; pictured here with our Minster of Education. Their 3D printing learning display is also included in this newsletter. We are appreciative of all staff, student and family contributions and hope we will continue to collectively strengthen our school community. Kind regards, Tracey and Ella

    FRIDAY 10/8 STEM Opening

    Dear families,

Welcome back to school and another eventful term full of possibilities. You

may have noticed our next big project which is well underway, our Nature

Play area! All progressing well we should be able to access this area half

way through this term, weather permitting. We are also making improve-

ments to our existing playground and hall wall space.

Did you know that during the holidays the majority of our staff accessed

learning opportunities of their own? This included courses on special edu-

cation, cultural competencies, English genre writing, phonics training, listen-

ing to authors and mathematicians and first aid training. It is wonderful to

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on

    School Students with Disability (NCCD)

All schools are required to collect information about the numbers of students that

they provide adjustments to under the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and Disa-

bility Standards of Education (2005). From 2018, this data will be used as the basis for

    national funding.

    The NCCD involves the collection of;

the number of students receiving adjustments to enable them to participate in

education on the same basis as other students

the level of adjustment provided to students

student’s type of disability if known

Under the model the definition of disability is broad and includes learning difficulties,

    health and mental health conditions.

If your child is identified for inclusion in the Collection, the required information will

be included in this year’s data collection.

If you have any questions about the data collection, please contact Tracey Davies /

Ella Blake on 8293 1863 Further information can be found at:
