True North Brass burst on to the scene in 1997 and has since solidified their reputation as one of the world’s finest brass ensembles. With a roster of some of Canada’s finest brass instrumentalists, their membership includes two outstanding composer/arrangers who create the Ensemble’s unique programming. Proudly Canadian in focus and expression, TNB has been welcomed not only in Canada but in China and throughout North America. Next season, the ensemble will tour solo brass concerts and collaborate with organists and pianists with a new transcription of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

Since 1985, Pentaèdre has been exploring diverse, original and daring chamber music repertoire. Composed of five musicians whose talent and technique create a rich homogeneous sonority, Pentaèdre has developed many projects over the years which involve guest artists

or artistic media. Their show with either the OMNIBUS mime company, marionette creations for young audiences or movie presentations with silent film pianist Gabriel Thibaudeau, are just a few that show the range of their possibilities. Pentaèdre will offer a number of concerts including Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition (showing 14 different instruments they play), a new Pinocchio with marionettes and a performance of Poulenc’s famous Sextet with the extraordinary pianist, David Jalbert.

Arion Baroque Orchestra, founded in 1981, is the only early music orchestra performing on period instruments in Québec and one of the most renowned early music ensembles in North America. Led by the enlightened artistic vision of flautist Claire Guimond, the

orchestra offers concerts between ten to more than twenty musicians and with internationally-known guest conductors. Critics through their concert tours in Japan, United States, Europe and Mexico have remarked on the clarity and freshness of Arion’s interpretations. Arion has also released an impressive collection of 27 discs - both as an ensemble and as an orchestra.

The CGQ has toured throughout the Americas and Europe, going from one standing ovation to the next, establishing a reputation as one of the finest guitar ensembles in the world. “It Takes Four to Tango” is an exciting program that combines music from around the world infused with the exotic rhythms

and fiery melodies of Latin-inspired music. This engaging and charismatic ensemble can really tango! “One cannot imagine better ensemble playing” – Fanfare Magazine. The CGQ also offers a “four-guitar orchestra” program, performing symphonic masterworks from their latest CD “Orchestral Works for Guitar Quartet”.

Triple Forte unites three of Canada’s most prominent soloists. Violinist Jasper Wood, cellist *Yegor Dyachkov and pianist David Jalbert have joined forces to create this sought-after piano trio. They have captured critics’ and audiences’ attention with their passion, intelligence and sensitivity and the

sheer joy that they bring to the stage. Join them in a program centered around Beethoven’s glorious “Archduke” trio, and experience the blend of finesse and power that defined their brilliant, Juno-nominated debut recording for ATMA records. Separately, these three stars have delighted international audiences for years – together they now form Canada’s most exciting chamber music ensemble.*Yegor Dyachkov appears through the collaboration of Latitude45 Arts Promotion.

The Canadian ensemble the Penderecki String Quartet was originally formed in Poland in 1986 and has become one of the most celebrated chamber ensembles of their generation. The PSQ champions music of our time, performing a wide range of

repertoire from Haydn to Zappa as well as premiering more than 100 new works to date. As they enter their 22nd year as Quartet-in-Residence at Wilfrid Laurier University, the PSQ will offer a number of recital options next season drawing from their recent performances of the cycles of Beethoven and Bartók as well as from their commissioned new works.

Duo Rendezvous is already in great demand, thanks to the stellar reputations and passionate virtuosity of Daniel Bolshoy and Jasper Wood. Their engaging and humorous on-stage style has endeared them to audiences everywhere. Their program, drawing inspiration from the

brothels of Buenos Aires to the cafés of Paris, mixes Bach, Debussy and Ravel with Piazzolla, Django Reinhardt and Sarasate. This presentation has entertained audiences with great music - be it “classical”, “jazz” or “world”. As Duo Rendezvous is “un-plugged”, audiences are able to appreciate the subtleties of both the violin and guitar in any venue.

The Wolak-Donnelly Duo presents a rare opportunity to hear jazz and classical music in the same concert by way of their personal renditions of jazz standards as well as the traditional classics. Focusing on the similarities between the genres rather than the differences, this engaging duo of

clarinetist *Kornel Wolak and pianist Chris Donnelly entertains, informs and ultimately delights. Their programs include revered classical pieces such as Mozart’s beloved Clarinet Concerto, Gershwin’s famous Rhapsody in Blue to Oscar Peterson’s jazz classic Hymn to Freedom, supplemented with brief, light-hearted, descriptive, historical or personal perspectives on the music.*Kornel Wolak appears in collaboration with Ann Summers International.

With their unique programming, virtuoso pianism and captivating stage presence, The Fung-Chiu Duo has quickly become one of Canada’s premiere piano-duos. The chemistry between the Fung-Chiu Duo simply has to be seen and heard to be believed. They breathe new

life into orchestral masterpieces through their extraordinary arrangements for one piano (four-hands) and two-pianos, where the 100 musicians of the orchestra become 20 fingers flying across the keyboard. They have effortless rapport, not just with one another, but with their enthralled audiences. Janelle Fung and Philip Chiu break down the “fourth wall”, chatting with the audience throughout the concert, telling stories and sharing insights... and often answering a few questions about composers, life on the road, and most importantly, Montréal bagels!
