TO OUR VISITORS
Our goal in the church of Christ is to be the New Testament church, which you can read about in the Bible. We invite you to ob-
serve our worship assemblies, the doctrine that is taught and the structure of the church organization. Make a close comparison
with your “church” and the church of the Bible -- The Church of Christ. We also invite you to join us as we strive to be the
church of the Bible and restore New Testament Christianity.

Vision Statement
We are a congregation of the Lord’s people dedicated to glorifying the Father through the proper study and application of the Scriptures, that our lives may be given to teaching the gospel and in service of Him in the Miami Valley and the world.

Every society has its own conception of the ideal ruler, the one against whom all others are judged. In America people idealize presidents according to the traits they appreciate most, whether Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, or Reagan. In the Roman Empire, every emperor was compared, favorably or unfavorably, to Augustus. For the Jews, David filled the role of the ideal king. However, when the sons of Korah penned Psalm 45, they intro-duced something unheard of in history—the ideal ruler who is yet to come. While the events of the day surely played into the wording of this psalm, it nevertheless points to something and Someone far greater. For in this psalm the sons of Korah point to the Mes-siah, the One anointed by God to rule on behalf of God. Where all previous kings had failed to live up to the standard of David, the Messiah would exceed that standard and raise the bar completely out of reach. Is it any wonder, then, that the psalmist embraces the theme with excitement and joy (Psa. 45:1)? This ideal King speaks as a king (Psa. 45:2) and carries Himself as a king (Psa. 45:3a) with the majestic presence of a king (Psa. 45:3b). But more than this, His character avoids all the pitfalls of previous leaders and exceeds even the most virtuous of followers because “truth, humility, and righteousness” are mainstays of His heart (Psa. 45:4a). He guides the people through instruction (Psa. 45:4b) and leads them into battle (Psa. 45:5). He excels in everything required of a leader. But with this leader, there is something different even then. The psalm records, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteous-ness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; There-fore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your compan-ions” (Psa. 45:6-7). The ideal King is God Himself, ruling from a throne in eternity and rul-ing on the basis of righteousness rather than political power. He achieved this authority and place from divine appointment because of the character He showed in life. Thus, the ideal King is Jesus, God who became man, who rules based upon righteousness in a king-dom not of this world, having been granted authority from the Father because of the per-fection of His life. This was a far different and far greater King than the Jews had imagined, yet they would be the first to enjoy its blessings (Psa. 45:8-16). Today, we take all of this for granted. But how powerful is the testimony that the Holy Spirit provided centuries before the incarnation! The promise of an ideal Leader was something difficult to grasp in all its grandeur. As a result, the Jews reimagined Him in the image of David and missed the One who was the express image of God (Heb. 1:3). Jesus now rules from a heavenly throne, and righteousness is His standard (Matt. 6:33; Rom. 1:16-17). He welcomes all into His kingdom who submit to righteousness but rejects those who refuse the standard of heaven. He is thus worthy of all honor and praise, as the psalm closes, “I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations; Therefore the people shall praise You forever and ever” (Psa. 45:17).

Being satisfied —is that a good thing?
Are you satisfied? Are you satisfied with where you are in life? Are you satisfied with your relationship with God? And, if you are satisfied, is that good thing? Or is that a bag thing? Be care-ful how you answer. Proverbs 14:14 states, "The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways." What does that mean? A heart that is inclined to drift away from God and fall back into his old ways will be fully satisfied with that and will "be filled with the fruit of his ways." He won't think anything is wrong. But one who has changed his heart and is no longer interested in those old ways (called "a good man" in the second part of this verse) "will be satisfied from above" or "from above him-self" or "with the fruit of his ways." He has adjusted his heart to find satisfaction in heavenly things. What brings you satisfaction? Is your satisfaction from your wants or from heaven's?

The Sealed Bread In ancient times in Biblical lands people ate bread almost with every meal. Some bakers would make bread of poor quality. These bakers would be severely punished. Bakers would stamp their names on the bread they made. This was done so that their bread would not be mistaken for being part of the poor bread. Their stamp would require the authorities to also test it for goodness. The tester would be able to tell people that the bread stamped with his name was good bread. This stamping of the bread was known as ‘sealing’ it. This sealing indicated good quality. It indicated it was good for the people. People would come to look for the sealed bread with that baker’s name. In John 6:27-32, Jesus says he was sealed by his Father. His Father gave him, the bread, to the world. In verse 35, Jesus says he is the bread of life. Jesus is the best bread in the world. He is very good. Partak-ing of him will make a person spiritually healthy. There is no other spiritual bread that can give a person eternal life. Study your Bible. Learn about Jesus Christ, the bread of life. Obey him. And if any of this is hard to understand, ask an adult to help you.

The Danger of
It is never safe to neglect the fundamentals of God’s Word. Fun-damentals are the basic facts of the Holy Scriptures. They are the foundational principles upon which other tenets are built (Heb. 5:11-14). Our learning process must begin with funda-mentals. In grade school you first learned your A-B-C’s. Next, you learned words. Following that you moved on to sentences. Finally, you advanced to other matters of comprehension. But, learning the alphabet was crucial to your educational advance-ment. Some folks were never fully grounded in the fundamentals of the Gospel. This handicaps their spiritual development. If they try to be teachers and preachers of the Gospel, they become a danger to the church. Their teaching is skewed and their doc-trines destructive. They are like a person trying to teach the subject of math, having never understood the fundamentals—i.e., adding and subtracting. Such individuals do not make good math teachers. The same is true with teachers of the Gospel. How can the following be true? “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Tim. 3:7). How can these learn biblical information, but not know the Truth? Per-haps they never understood the basics. In the church today there are preachers that see no sin in the use of mechanical instruments of music in worship. Some will have spiritual fel-lowship with anyone that calls God “Father” and Jesus “Savior.” They no longer believe that baptism is necessary for salvation. This is a far cry from Jesus and the apostles. It is not what preachers of the past stood for. What is bringing about these changes? Why has this become so
Neglecting Fundamentals
widespread? Believe it or not, it has a lot to do with a neglect of fundamentals. Brethren in the pew are not as fundamentally sound as in years gone by. Many elders have not been grounded in the basics. They are, in part, to blame for the success of false teachers across the brotherhood. They should be removing false teachers from the pulpits, instead they are not able to recognize false teaching when they hear it. Fundamentals must be taught in all of our classes. We need to start early in grounding our children and new Christians in the elementary facts of the gospel. It is an important step in bringing real strength to the church.
