    FLOWVISUALIZATIONforPRECISETURBINESITINGRIAMCOMPACT(ResearchInstituteforAppliedMechanics,KyushuUniversity,COMputationalPredictionofAirflowoverComplexTerrain),anunsteadynonlinearsimulationCFDsoftware,wasdevelopedspecificallyforaccurateflowsimulation for complex terrain. The software's calculation code is based on the LargeEddy Simulation (LES)turbulencemodel.Afteryearsofdevelopment,thecodehasbeensuccessfullyfinetunedandoptimised.WiththeuseofmultiCPUandmultiGPUparallelcomputing,fastLEScalculationisnowachievable.Terraininducedturbulenceovercomplexterrain isan important issuetoconsiderduringturbine layoutplanning.RIAMCOMPACTfeaturesenhancedflowvisualizationwhichenablesnumericalsimulationresultstobevisualizedinthe formofgraphicalanimations.Excessiveturbulencespotscanbequickly identified.Highwindspeedwith lowturbulence areas suitable forturbine placement can beaccurately determined,makingthis an indispensable tool notjust for turbulence riskassessment but also formaximizing production of yourwindfarm.WHATDOESNONLINEARANDUNSTEADYMEAN?
