Meeting Notes June 20, 2011 DMV Driver’s License Renewals Online RI.gov Attendees: Tom Viall, Joe Alba, and Nicole Courtemanche DOIT Attendees: Linda Nelson, Denise Mencarini DMV Attendees: Lisa Holley, Chuck Hollis, Lisa Egan, and Marcy Coleman Online license authentication and authorization against the DMV legacy system to match DMV business rules RI.gov staff noted that the previous DMV technical discussion had involved a different set of data than what appears on the newest screens being presented to RI.gov. The original screen displayed more information than the latter, which might impact the ability of RI.gov software to enforce the business decisions made by DMV staff. DMV IT confirmed that the latest screens were specifically created to support the online renewal process. These DMV screens display close to 10 different status messages regarding the selected licensee’s renewal eligibility. Follow up: DMV IT will provide RI.gov with a list of all possible status messages and work with DMV staff to determine which messages must halt an online license renewal. Online  license  authentication  and  authorization  against  the  DMV  legacy  system  to  match  DMV  business  rules

Motor  voter    

• Marcy  heard  from  Bob  Kando  at  the  Board  of  Elections  that  the  Motor  Voter  requirements  mandate  either  asking  the  Motor  Voter  questions  at  the  time  of  a  license  transaction  or  prefilling  the  licensee’s  personal  information  into  a  form  on  the  Secretary  of  State’s  Web  site  to  allow  a  licensee  to  submit  a  Motor  Voter  request  with  minimal  effort.  

• Motor  Voter  details  should  be  included  on  the  online  renewal  receipt  • To  be  determined:  If  RI.gov  collects  Motor  Voter  details,  should  these  details  

be  included  in  the  DMV  legacy  system  batch,  L1  fulfillment  batch  or  a  separate  batch  directly  to  the  Secretary  of  State?  

• Follow  up:  DOIT  and  RI.gov  will  work  together  to  contact  the  Board  of  Elections.  

• Marcy  mentioned  a  good  contact  at  the  SOS’s  Office  is  Jan  Ruggiero  to  inquire  about  the  possibility  of  a  Motor  Voter  batch  directly  to  the  Secretary  of  State.
