By any measure, the inaugural effort of the
show, “Reynoldsburg’s Got Talent!’ held at
Summit High School PAC on February 28,
2015, was a success.
Twenty acts were chosen by co-hosts Lion
Mike Kerek and Pastor Aaron Delong of Simple
Church in a wide range of genres: dancing,
singing, bands, cheers, comedian, even a
monologue. Ages ranged across the board, with
both youth and adult acts. Over 300 people came out to watch a fantastic
2-hour show, great entertainment at the heart

While other clubs, indeed
organizations, are struggling
with their membership, the
Reynoldsburg Lions keep
getting stronger...with active,
interested new members who
want to make a difference in
the community!
When you have a chance,
take the time to welcome all the members who have joined
in just during the 2014-15

Mike and Aaron were able to present a check
to the CEO of “A Kid Again” in the amount of
$2809.
It was a wonderful demonstration of teamwork
and collaboration. Members of both Simple
Church and the Reynoldsburg Lions Club
worked seamlessly together to put the event
on.
Special thanks also to Reynoldsburg City
Schools, PAC staff, Chamber of Commerce,
ThisWeek News and Eastside Messenger for
wonderful advertising and articles, the Leos
Club, Pickerington Signs & Designs, all the
performers, and the many people who came
out and supported the event.

This new life-blood cannot sustain the club forever,
however. We need to

minded individuals to become
new members. Residents of
Reynoldsburg are particularly
sought, because it is their
home that is being served.
If you know a person who
might be a good fit for Lions,
be it friend, family, co-worker
or whomever, invite him/her
to a meeting or event. We’d love to answer questions.

Award of Merit. Lion President Neal
Bennett also received the COG Award
of Merit.
This convention was also one in which
many Reynoldsburg Lions were active
par t i c ip an t s , suppor t in g the i r
candidates. At the Friday Night
Hospitality, where Lion Mike K. had a
room, Lions Neal, Bob T, Norm, Lavie,
Amour, Rennes, Vanne, and others were there to pitch in with set-up,
clean-up, running stations, and whatever
needed to be done. Saturday during
nominations and demonstrations, Mike
S. and Dave were there as well. Even
members Jacob (smoking the brisquet)
and Lynette (making signs) helped in the
cause, though they couldn’t make the
convention itself. To all of you who
attended and helped out a fellow Lion,
you are much appreciated!
District 13-F will be celebrating 50
years of service this year, its last year of
existence. Three Reynoldsburg Lions
will be on the District Cabinet for the
final year: Mike Kerek, Dave Risen, and
Neal Bennett. Next year’s convention
will be a celebration of both a great
past and a new beginning!

We’re faced with a great problem. We
have a bunch of new members—now
how do we keep everyone busy and
happy?
The fundraisers and service projects
that we currently do are simply not
enough to f u l l y oc cupy our
membership. However, we must be
very cognizant that if we create new
projects, they must fall within three
very strict guidelines: does the project
benefit the community? Does the
project fall in an interest of at least
some of the members? And does the
project fall within the available times of
the necessary number of Lions?
Projects do not have to be huge, like
the Reynoldsburg’s Got Talent. They
can be smaller scale. But we definitely
need to start looking at new ones.
We also need new members to start
taking some of the committee
positions—calling committees, some
a s p e c t s o f c o m m u n i c a t i o n s ,
procurements, etc.
Some of these issues will be brought up
at the next couple of meetings, so
please bring new ideas to the table with
you. No such thing as a bad idea—just
ones we may or may not be able to do.
The Reynoldsburg Lions were
recogn ized and honored both
collectively and individually in a
convention that was filled with drama
and tension, thanks to the contentious
races for 2nd Vice District Governor
and the Building Trustee positions, both
of which had Reynoldsburg Lions as
active candidates.
PCC Lion Dave Risen won his reelection as Building Trustee. Lion
Mike Kerek won the election in a 3-way
race for 2nd Vice District Governor.
(The first time in several decades where
there were 3 candidates for that
position at the same time.)
The Reynoldsburg Lions were awarded
the 2014-15 Governor’s Award for the
21-35 member category. They were
also one of only five clubs in the district
to be honored with patches from LCI
indicating that they had completed all
four steps of the 2014-15 Centennial
Challenge, which included projects over
the year aimed at vision, youth, feeding
the hungry, and environmental.
Individual awards included Mike Kerek
receiving the 2015 Lion Catcher Award
and a Council of Governors (COG)
