The 29 Arabic alphabetic letters

Main MakhaarijThere are 5 main categories of Makhaarij :1. The oral cavity Al Jawf الج�وف2. The throat Al Halq الح�لق3. The tongue Al Lissaan س�ان الل4. The lips Ash-shafatain ف�تان الش�5. The nasal cavity Al Khayshoom وم الخ�يش�

The 3rd main makhraj : Al- lisan (tongue) This is the makhraj that the majority of letters come from (18 out of 29)

That is why we call it the speech tool

There are 10 sub – makhaarij in the tongue

1st sub – makhraj of the tongue From the deepest part of the tongue and

what lies opposite to it of roof of the mouth(the soft palate)

Only one letter comes from that sub – makhraj which is ( ق )
