Is working scientifically working for you? Be prepared to think and learn as a Scientist! Discover how to use essential scientific questions, harness the power of curiosity and provoke deep learning. This new one day course encourages you to use a wide range of materials and activities linked to both the National Curriculum and Chris Quigley’s Essentials Curriculum. Designed to ignite scientific thinking, delegates will take a fresh look at medium term planning and use scientific evidence to assess the depth of understanding through the branches of Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Outline of the day: · Define what thinking and learning like a scientist is like within the school as Working Scientifically is the golden thread that runs through the subject · Explore the Science curriculum expectations from EYFS through to Y6 and how to plan and teach the content successfully · Analyse Long and Medium Term Planning through the branches of Biology, Physics and Chemistry · Use our Task Planning materials to ensure pupils are challenged through mastery of the Science curriculum expectations · Discover how to write and design Essential Questions that engage and ignite the scientific curiosity of pupils · Use Art and Artefacts to inspire and make conscious connections with significant artists and scientists · Take time to evaluate the curriculum provision using our innovative Science Mastery Maps. “Now I’m really looking forward to teaching forces again - can’t wait.” Year 5 Teacher Chris Quigley Education About Alex Bedford With over 20 years experience in education, Alex has worked in a wide range of schools and settings including as a Teacher across the primary phase, a Head Teacher and as a Leading Adviser for school improvement.
