Fin de Año2012 fue un excelente año para esta casa editora, ya que co-menzamos la aventura de dos8 Vallarta en donde, a escasos 4 meses de estar presentes en el puerto, hemos recibido ex-celentes comentarios y muy buena aceptación por parte de todos los que han visto nuestra revista.Apenas vamos iniciando este proyecto editorial, si te ha gus-tado lo que has visto, prepárate para el 2013, ya que traemos ideas nuevas y por supuesto que seguiremos cubriendo los mejores eventos del puerto.En nuestra edición número 4, les traemos todo lo que sucedió en las fiestas de Halloween; también cubrimos el 57° Torneo de Pesca de Marlín y Pez Vela, la gran fiesta de bienvenida del XVIII Festival Gourmet, la 1era piedra del nuevo edificio de la UNIVA, la Semana Cultural del Tepeyac, el 1er aniversario de la disco Rockie, el 2do encuentro regional de comida, entre otros.Así es que disfruten de este ejemplar de dos8 y recuerden que diciembre es un mes en donde la armonía y la felicidad están a la orden del día. The end of the year2012 was a great year for this company due to the launch of Dos 8 Vallarta. We have been here in Vallarta for just 4 months, but we have received great comments and acceptance among the people who has read our magazine.We are just starting, and if you have liked what you have seen….. get ready for 2013. We are working on some new ideas and of course, we will be with you in the best events.In our number 4 magazine, we were invited to all the Halloween parties, to the 57th Marlin and Sailfish Fishing International Tourna-ment, to the greatest opening party for the XVIII Gourmet festival, to the starting of the construction of the new UNIVA facilities, to the cultural week at Colegio Tepeyac, ,to the first anniversary at Rockie, the second Regional Food Festival, and the list goes on.Please, enjoy this magazine and remember that December is the month in which Harmony and Happiness are present more than ever in our houses,work, school or lives. Después de 3 días de actividad en altamar, el 57° Torneo de Pesca de Marlín y Pez Vela, celebrado en la hermosas playas de Puerto Vallarta, tuvo como ganadores oficiales en esta edición del 2012, al equipo Pes-cadores de Montana, que llevó a la báscula un bonito marlín plateado de 175.8 kilos; en la especie de pez vela, el primer lugar correspondió al equipo de Marlinstar, con un re-gistro de 37.1 kilos. En la especie de tuna, el triunfo fue para el equipo Guanatuna, con un ejemplar aleta amarilla de 91.7 kilogramos. Por último, en la categoría de dorado, el triunfo fue para Opequimar, quie-nes desde el primer día de compe-tencia, registraron un ejemplar con un peso de 20.2 kilos. Al término del Torneo, se realizó una emotiva ce-remonia de premiación, en donde se entregaron los autos, equipos de pesca, cortesías de hospedaje en di-ferentes destinos y, por supuesto, el premio de 200 mil pesos al ganador del primer lugar de marlín.

After three days of sea activity, the 57th Marlin and Sailfish Fishing International Tournament, which was celebrated in the beautiful beaches of Puerto Vallarta; had as the official winners of this 2012 edition to the Montana fishing team. Their silver marlin weighted 175.8 kilos. And in the sailfish cate-gory, the first place was won by the Marlinstar team, with a registered fish of 37.1 kilos. In the tuna specie, the winners were the Guanatuna team, showing a yellow-fin sample of 91.7 kilos. And at the end the golden category was won by the Opequimar team. Since the begin-ning of the competition this team registered a sample of 20.2 kilos.At the end of the tournament, there was an emotional award ceremony where the autos, fishing equipment, hotel courtesies for different places, and of course; the best prize which was 200 thousand pesos to the first-place winner in the marlin category were given.

Los alumnos más pequeños de Cole-gio Campoverde, pasaron un día muy especial para celebrar Halloween, al realizar diferentes actividades, tales como Ponle la cola al gato, Rally de arañas, Boliche, Bingo de Halloween, Traga-pelotas yu Memoria, además tuvieron opor-tunidad de presenciar una padrísima obra de teatro con marionetas. Por supuesto, todos los niños iban disfra-zados y disfrutaron de un delicioso desayuno temático.

The smallest students of Campoverde School, spent a very special day celebrating Halloween. They did different activities such as place the tail in the cat, spider rally, bowling, Halloween Bingo, Ball Swallower and Memory. They also had the opportunity to watch a nice theatre play with puppets. They children were wearing Halloween costumes and enjoy a delicious thematic breakfast.


Una padrísima Noche Disco, fue la que se organizó para que los alumnos de secundaria del Colegio Campoverde, celebraran Halloween. Para la ocasión, se adornó la escuela con motivos alusivos a la fecha, se instalaron pantallas, luces y hubo un DJ que puso un súper ambiente para que pudieran bailar. No faltaron unos deliciosos tacos al pastor para calmar el hambre. Por supuesto que casi todos los asistentes iban disfrazados y reinó una excelente convivencia.

An outstanding Disco Night was organized for the Campoverde junior high school students to celebrate Halloween. The school was decorated with some Halloween ornaments. There were some screens, lights and a DJ who played great music for everybody to dance. The students enjoyed some delicious tacos. There was an excellent environment where all the students were dressed up with some Halloween costumes.

Un evento muy importante, se realizó en la Universidad del Valle de Atemajac, con motivo de la colocación de la primera piedra del edificio que albergará los laboratorios “C”, lo que significa un creci-miento notable en la institución. Para la ocasión, se realizó una misa oficiada por Luis Artemio Flores Calzada, Obispo de la Diócesis de Tepic, seguida de un mensaje del Rector de UNIVA, Presbítero Licen-ciado Francisco Ramírez Yáñez, quien destacó el crecimiento de la institución, así como el compromiso social con el que egresa cada estudiante de esta casa de estudios. Después tocó el turno de las pa-labras del Director, Luis Ignacio Zúñiga, que destacó la importancia y el valor de este nuevo espacio en la institución. Pos-teriormente, los asistentes se dirigieron al lugar donde se construye el edificio para la colocación de la primera piedra.

A very important event was organized by the Universidad del Valle de Atema-jac ( UNIVA ) to place the first stone whe-re the Laboratories “ C ” are going to be built. This means that the institution is prominently growing. To celebrate this, first a mass was offi-ciated by Luis Artemio Flores Calzada, Bishop of the Diocese of Tepic; then UNIVA Rector, Presbyterian Francisco Ramirez Yañez, directed a speech in which he addressed the growth of the institution and the social commitment that each and every student who majors from this school has. Later on, it was the Headmaster’s turn to speak about the importance and value of this new facility. The audience went to the place, where the building is going to be, to see how the first stone was placed.

Con una glamorosa fiesta, se inauguró el XVIII Festival Gourmet Internacional, ante la presencia de grandes personalidades de la hotelería y de la industria restaurantera, en uno de los bellos jardines del desarrollo Marival Residence en Nuevo Vallarta. Disfrutando un menú de Tapas Gourmet, selección de vinos, tequilas y cerveza Corona, orquesta y DJ, los cientos de invitados y turistas dieron la bienvenida al festival más im-portante de la gastronomía mexicana. Uno de los grandes impulsores del Festival, Thierry Blouet, destacó la presencia de una de las figuras más conocidas de la gastronomía mexicana, como lo es la chef Patricia Quintana. Durante el festival, participaron 32 chefs invitados, de los cuales 19 son mexicanos y el resto son extranjeros prove-nientes de 12 países diferentes, que alternaron en 29 restaurantes de Puerto Vallarta y Riviera Nayarit. Este festival cumple 18 años, naciendo con la intención de reactivar la gastronomía local, provocar la vanguardia y un intercambio en la cultura gastronómica con ideas de otros lugares del mundo.

A glamorous party was the opening to the XVIII International Gourmet Festival, where a lot of important personalities from the hotel and restaurant industries showed up. The event was held in one of the most beautiful gardens of the Marival Residence Facilities in Nuevo Vallarta.Enjoying a menu from the Tapas Gourmet Restaurant, a great variety of wines, tequila and Corona beer, an orchestra and a DJ, hundreds of guests and tourists welcomed the most impor-tant cuisine festival. One of the most important promoters was Thierry Blouet, who highlighted the presence of a well-known personality from the Mexican gastronomy; chef Patricia Quintana.32 chefs were invited and participated to the fes-tival, 19 of them were Mexican and the rest were from 12 different countries. They were working in 29 restaurants from Puerto Vallarta and the Nayarit Riviera. This was the eighteenth anniver-sary of the festival which objective is to reactivate the local gastronomy, provoke vanguard and the exchange of gastronomic culture among the countries which participated.

En su onceavo año consecu-tivo, el Colegio Fernández de Lizardi organizó la Feria de Ciencias, con la finalidad de que los alumnos lleven a la práctica los conocimien-tos que han aprendido en diversas materias escolares. Uno de los motivantes de esta feria, es que los padres de familia pudieron recorrer los diferentes proyectos ins-talados en la escuela para la realización de los experimen-tos y las explicaciones que dieron los alumnos de sus

One of the motives was for the parents to go through all the installed projects all around the school where experi-ments and presentations were done by the students. Fanni pasará la Navidad con su familia en Guadalajara, con la deliciosa cena preparada por la abuela y disfrutando el clima tan rico de estas fechas en esa bella ciudad.

Desea que Santa Claus le traiga, antes que cosas materiales, salud para ella y para todos los que quiere, pero si se tratara de algo material, claro que pediría lo que toda chava quiere: Ropa!!

Sus propósitos de Año Nuevo son, entre otras cosas, cuidar su salud, terminar la prepa con buenas calificaciones, conservar a los viejos amigos y hacer nuevos, sonreír más, hacer más ejercicio, ahorrar, viajar, tener mucho trabajo, leer más, dar y recibir amor.

Como balance del 2012, piensa que fue un buen año, obviamente como todos tuvo sus contras, pero siempre encontrando la solución. Cumplió varios propósitos, otros se quedaron en el camino pero seguirá luchando por ellos. El 2012 dejó huella en su vida y agradece a Dios por todo lo concedido. Hubo alegrías, tristezas, diversión, errores, de todo un poco y comenta: “No todo puede ser color de rosa, es por eso que nada es fácil en esta vida, si todo fuera tan fácil de conseguir, la vida no tendría sentido, no valoraríamos el día a día, no pondríamos el mínimo empeño en conseguir nuestras metas”.

Sobre su experiencia en posar para dos8, nos dice: “Estoy agradecida con todo el equipo por pensar en nosotras para la portada de esta revista que está súper padre! Amo a mi hermana y nos encanta que nos tomen fotos juntas. Fue genial, hubo bastantes risas y creo que el trabajo fue estupendo de parte de todos. Muchas gracias y enhorabuena dos8. Mucho éxito este próximo año!”

Fanni is 18 years old and she is about to finish her high school. If you want to win her heart, the boys must have nice eyes and they must be attentive, gentle, respectful, smell well, and must be someone who makes her laugh a lot, someone she can learn from and someone who looks for excellence. Nowadays she has got a boyfriend.

Fanni will spend Christmas with her family in Guadalajara, enjoying the delicious dinner their grandma prepares and the weather that the beautiful Guadalajara has in those days.

She wishes Santa could bring her, not material things, but health for she and the people she loves. But if she had to choose something material, she would like what every chic girl needs : clothing !!

Her New Year’s resolutions are , among others; to take care of her health, finish her high school with good grades, keep her high school friends and make new ones, smile more, make more exercise, save money, travel, have a lot of work, read more and give and receive love.

If she looks back at the things she went through during 2012, she says it was a good year. She had some trouble of course, but she was always trying to find the solution. She fulfilled some of her goals and others are still there, and she will be working on that. 2012 marked her life and she thanks God for what He has given her. She went through some happiness, sadness, amusement, etc. She made some mistakes, but she has experienced some good and bad things.

She said, “ Things are not pink colour, and they are not that easy. If things were easy, life wouldn’t have sense. We wouldn’t value all the things around us, and we wouldn’t make the effort to do things well.”

About her experience modelling for Dos 8, she said, “ I want to thank all the crew because they invited us to be part of the magazine. It is really cool! I love my sister and we love to be photographed together. It was great. We laughed a lot and I think the work we all did was good. Thank you very much and congratulations Dos 8. I wish you a lot of success for next year! ”

Fanni Ordoñez Montiel Saida Ordoñez Montiel Saida Abigail, tiene 18 años y estudia el último año de prepa.A Saida la conquistan con detalles, que sean tiernos, atentos, originales, pero sobre todo siendo ellos mismos, pues no le gusta que quieran aparentar cosas que no son. Odia eso!Por el momento, no tiene novioSaida pasará la Navidad con toda su familia en Guadalajara y si le tuviera que pedir algo a Santa Claus, sería más salud, más trabajo y bienestar para emprender todos sus propósitos el año que entra, que son terminar la prepa, estudiar idiomas, desarrollarse como persona, viajar y, sobre todo, disfrutar los momentos que vienen, que sabe que son los mejores.Como balance del 2012, nos comenta que fue un año con altibajos, pero sin lugar a dudas le dejó bastante aprendizaje y la hizo crecer como persona.Sobre su experiencia de posar en dos8, nos dice: “Fue una experiencia muy agradable pues la compartí con la persona más importante en mi vida y la que me ha acompañado en todo momento, mi hermana. Saida Abigail Ordoñez MontielSaida Abigail is 18 years old and studies the last year of her high school.If you want to win her heart, details are things she loves. She likes boys to be nice, original, tender, but most of all she likes them to be themselves. She doesn’t like boys to pretend to be something they are not. Nowadays she does not have a boyfriend.Saida will spend Christmas with all her family in Guadalajara. If she had to ask Santa Claus for something, she told us that she would ask for health, work and welfare, so that she could fulfill her goals. She wants to finish her high school studies, learn more languages, develop herself, travel and above everything she wants to enjoy her future because she feels it is going a great one.Looking back at the things that happened to her during this year, she told us that she had had some ups and downs; but that she learned a lot from all she had experienced. And this experiences made her growth. About her experience modeling for Dos 8, she told us, “ it was a really rewarding activity. Specially because I shared it with the most important person in my life, and the one who has been with me all the time…. my sister. It was nice getting along with Dos 8 crew as well. En esta ocasión, decidimos invitar a dos amigas de dos8, ellas son Saida y Fan-ni Montiel. Todo comenzó a mediados del mes anterior, en donde el equipo editorial se reunió para comenzar la preparación de esta portada. Ya teniendo a las modelos, nos fuimos con nuestros amigos de Liverpool para ver lo de los cambios de vestuario y de ahí platicar con lo del diseño de imagen para ver qué maquillaje y peinados les iban a hacer.En un principio teníamos como locación un club deportivo, pero por cuestiones de logística, el mismo día cambiamos de locación y nos fuimos al “El tigre” en donde nos dieron todas las facilidades necesarias para la realización de la porta-da. Los flashazos comenzaron a las 5 de la tarde y fueron 2 cambios de vestuario, la sesión terminó cerca de las 9 de la noche y fueron más de 500 fotografías las que se tomaron.Aprovechamos este espacio para agradecer a todas las personas que estuvieron involucradas en la realización, ya que gracias a ellos, se logró esta gran portada.Disfruten de todo lo que sucedió en backstage, que las imágenes dicen más que mil palabras.

For this session, we decided to invite to two Dos8 friends. They are Saida and Fanni Montiel. Everything started last month when our editorial crew got together to start preparing the front cover. When having the models, we went to talk to our friends of Liverpool and check their outfits. We talked about the image design as well because of the make up and the way their hairstyle was going to be.At the beginning we thought of a sports club, but due to the logistic we decided to go to “ El Tigre ”, where the people there helped us a lot with all the necessary things to make this come true.The shooting started at 5 in the afternoon and they were wearing two different out-fits. The session ended at 9 at night. More than 500 photos were taken.We want to thank all the people who were involved in the making of this frontal cover. Without them, it would not have been possible!Enjoy all we went through. Images is worth more than a thousand words.

¿Cómo es un salto de caída libre en paracaídas? ¿Qué es lo que implica y cuánto dura?Un salto de caída libre, es saltar al vacío, sumergirte en el cielo. Se suele hacer una analogía con las actividades del mar, que volar en un avión es como ir en una lancha sobre el mar, y saltar en caída libre es como sumergirte a bucear en el mar y conocer un nuevo mundo. Para esto primero debes de subir a miles de pies de altura sobre el piso o sobre el mar. Mientras más alto subas, mejor! Será más seguro y tendrás mas tiempo de caída libre. Con el avión que tenemos en Skydive Mex subimos por encima de 13,000 pies, que es el límite permitido por la ley antes de requerir oxígeno auxiliar a los 14,000 pies. Sólo hay dos aviones que operan en México a estas alturas y con esta capacidad. Subimos en 10 minutos a 13 mil pies, o cuando va a su capacidad máxima de 21 paracaidistas, llega a la misma altura en menos de 15 minutos. La vida depende del buen funcionamiento de todo lo involucrado en la cadena, desde el avión, del equipo y del profesionalismo de las personas que lo operan.

¿Qué medidas de seguridad se tienen y cuáles son los costos?Nuestro avión, los equipos de paracaidismo y el personal, cumplen con los más altos estándares a nivel

internacional. Se han desarrollado muy buenos mecanismos y técnicas para reducir los riesgos al máximo. Todos los equipos cuentan con un paracaídas de respaldo, así como con un dispositivo de activación automática. Es muy difícil que ocurra un accidente. El precio varia desde $240 a $365 USD o su equivalente en pesos, dependiendo de los servicios extra que se contraten, como puede ser un paquete de video. ¿Que personas pueden vivir esta experiencia y quienes no?Cualquiera que tenga buena salud y esté dentro del rango de peso permitido, puede disfrutar de un salto tandem. El cielo es el límite.

¿Cómo se llama la empresa y qué más hace en cuestión de deportes extremos?Skydive Mex y se dedica a la operación de saltos de paracaídas con base en Riviera Nayarit, así como eventos de paracaidismo para saltadores experimentados.

¿Cuánto tiempo llevan en Vallarta?Skydive Mex llegó en Noviembre y estará todo Diciembre, Enero, Febrero y Marzo, probablemente terminando operaciones el 5 de Abril.

Parachuting AdventureWhat and how is to sky dive ? How long does it last? What is it?Practicing skydiving is a parachute jump, it is to be immerse in the sky. An analogy related to sea activities is usually done. Flying is like going on a boat, and parachuting is like diving under sea; this means that you are getting to know a new world. First of all, you have to go up to several miles above the ground or sea. The higher you go, the better! This will make it safer, and you will enjoy you skydiving better. Here at Skydive Mex, we go over 13,000 feet on our plane which is the height that is permitted by the law. At a height of 14,000 feet or more, you would need auxiliary oxygen. There are only two planes in Mexico which have this capacity and can go up to that height. We go up to 13, 000 feet in just 10 minutes. And if the plane goes to its max capacity which is 21 parachutists, the time to go up is of at least 15 minutes. Life depends on the smooth running of all the elements involved in this activity, starting with the plane, the equipment and the professionalism of the people working here.

What are the security measures ? How much does it cost to be safe ?Our plane, the parachuting equipment and the staff fulfil the highest standards at international level. There have been developed very good mechanisms and techniques to reduce the risks to the max. all the equipment has a spare parachute, and an automatic activation system. This makes it difficult to have an accident.The price could go from $240 USD to $365 USD or the equivalence in pesos. This will be depending on the extra services to be hired, such as a promotion including a video of the skydiving

Who can experience this event ? Who can’t ?Anyone who is healthy and has the standard weight measure can enjoy a tandem jump. The sky is the limit.

Gymboree y Kyndergym, cele-braron su fiesta de Halloween, invitando a los papás y a los alumnos a disfrazarse para crear un ambiente muy especial en el que los niños pudieron convivir y jugar en las activi-dades que les prepararon sus maestras. Los papás partici-paron muy contentos en las dinámicas, lo que permitió que los pequeños se sintieran más seguros y felices. Al final, se rea-lizó una pasarela en la que los niños mostraron sus originales y divertidos disfraces.

Gymboree and Kindergym celebrated their Halloween party, inviting the parents and students to wear a costume, so that they could all enjoy a very special envi-ronment in which the kids could play and enjoy the activities that were prepared by the teachers. The parents, who participated, were very happy with the dynamics which help the kids be happier. At the end, the kids were modeling their original and funny costumes.

La organización de alumnos de la Universidad Tecnológica de Bahía de Banderas, realizó una fiesta de bien-venida para los alumnos de nuevo ingreso de la UTBB en la Disco Roc-kie de Plaza Penínusla. Esta diverti-da fiesta, sirvió para la integración y convivencia de los nuevos alumnos con los que tienen más tiempo. Se realizaron concursos, juegos y rifas en la fiesta que terminó muy tarde.

The students association of the Universidad Tecnológica de Bahia de Banderas ( UTBB ) organized a welcome party for all the UTBB newcomers at Disco Rockie in Plaza Peninsula. This funny party helped the new students get along and meet the ones who have been there for more time. There were some contests, games and raffles. The party was over pretty late.

Las actividades llevadas a cabo, constaron de exhibiciones de técnicas de cocina, presenta-ciones de libros gastronómicos, conferencias y las clásicas degustaciones de platillos crea-dos por cocineros representantes de nueve estados del país: Aguascalientes, Colima, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas y Jalisco.

In recent days the second edition of the Traditional and Popular Food Regional Gathering was held in Vallarta. A gastronomic, cultural and enter-tainment event organized by the Culture Board of Jalisco with the support of the entrepreneur Nacho Cadena. The aim of the event is to reinforce and spread the cuisine work from Puerto Vallarta, because Vallarta is the second most important gastronomic destiny in our country.During the opening, Alejandro Cravioto Lebrija, Jalisco’s Minister of Culture, and Nacho Cadena, Chairman of the Hotel and Motel Association from Puerto Vallarta; welcomed the people and inaugurated the activities of this event. They also invited people to enjoy some of the exquisite cuisine that was prepared for this night.There were some activities such as some exhibi-tions on cooking techniques, the presentation of some gastronomy books, lectures, and the tasting of some of the dishes prepared by the best chefs from nine regions: Aguascalientes, Colima, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Queretaro, Nayarit, San Luis Potosi, Zacatecas and Jalisco.


El Instituto Tepeyac Campus Puerto Vallarta, celebró su semana cultural, con una noche llena de tradición, folclor, artesanías y gastronomía, en donde los alumnos de los distintos grados del instituto presentaron trabajos de investigación y artísticos relativos al Día de Muertos. Calaveritas, altares, comida tradicional, música y mucha diversión para toda la familia fue lo que encontramos en el Tepeyac.

The Tepeyac Institute, Campus Puerto Vallarta; celebrated its cultural week with a night full of tradition, folklore, handicrafts and gastronomy. Students from different levels presented research and artistic works related to the Death Day Celebration. La asociación Becas Vallarta, organizó un desayuno en Mangos Beach Club y con el apoyo de varios patrocinadores, con el fin de recaudar fondos para proporcionar becas a la gente joven de Puerto Vallarta. Al desa-yuno, acudieron diversas personalidades de la sociedad vallartense, con el propósito de contribuir al progreso de Vallarta a través de darle la oportunidad de una mejor educa-ción a jóvenes sin recursos.

The Becas Vallarta Association ( Vallarta Scholarship ) organized a great breakfast at Mangos Beach Club. They were supported by several sponsors and the aim of the event was to collect some funds to help the young people from Vallarta with some scholarships. People from Vallarta’s elite showed up to contribute to the betterment of Vallarta through an education opportunity for those youngsters with no money.
