Jurassic Park ReviewIn 1993 Steven Spielberg directed one of the masterpieces of his

filmography: Jurassic Park, a film combining science fiction, actionand adventure for all the family, based on the novel of the same titleby Michael Crichton.

The story takes place at the beginning of the 90s on an exoticCaribbean island where the multimillionaire businessman John Ham-mond, thanks to the miracle of genetic technology, has created a mixbetween a theme park and a dinosaur zoo which is known as Juras-sic Park.

Before the park inauguration, Hammond decides to invite someexperts in different fields to his island, including the paleontologistsDr. Allan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler, the mathematician Dr. Ian Mal-colm and Hammonds grandchildren Lex and Tim. But somethinggoes wrong and what is supposed to be a marvellous experiencebecomes a nightmare.

Having the most spectacular special effects of its time, the filmamazed thousands of people around the world and nowadays it stilldoes. Not only because of the special effects, but also the great

story, the interesting dialogues, the excellent soundtrack and, of cour-se, the charming landscapes filmed.

It is hard to find a downside, but we could say that the film doesnot exploit its full philosophical potential.

To sum up, Jurassic Park is one of the greatest films in moderncinema. If you like science fiction, action and a good story, you can-not miss it.

The Celestine ProphecyIn 1995 and 1996, James Redfields The Celestine Prophecywas the bestselling book in the world. The pheno-menal novel, set in Peru, spent over three years in The New York Timesbestseller list.

As for characterization, the main character is a man who is seeking a mysterious manuscript, from ancientPeruvian culture. It dates back to about 600 BC. It predicts a massive transformation in human society. It is aboutspiritual knowledge. Only when you read this novel, do you discover something new about human life. The manus-

cript is divided into segments or chapters, devoted to a particularinsight into life. Insight is the word used by the author to refer to therevelations that unravel as the book progresses. The manuscript pre-dicts that in this time period human beings will begin to work outthese insights sequentially, one insight then another, as we movefrom where we are now to a completely spiritual culture on Earth.

The great strength of the novel and what makes The CelestineProphecya masterpiece is the relevant and useful knowledge fromeach insight in the manuscript. The insights contain the truth of life.Throughout the journey around Peru, the main character tries to findout the answers to important questions such as who you are, whatpath we are on and what we are doing on Earth. No sooner do youread the final chapters than you start to know yourself better. For allthese reasons, this novel is extremely thought provoking and intri-guing, you cannot stop reading and it is quite difficult to predict howit might end.

In my view, not only is it a haunting and absolutely gripping bookbut it also deals with psychological problems of human beings andthe readers can learn that the development of the spiritual area in

ourselves is as important as the development of the corporeal one. Iconsider it by far the best novel I have ever read so I sincerely recom-mend it to you. For all lovers of interesting novels, it is a must.

    A Nice Summer Day

I have to take advantage of such a nice day, Mario thought. Some little birds were singing in the trees thatsurrounded his lovely home, bought ten years ago by his wife, so he got up and opened the window to enjoy therelaxing sound and the pleasant sea breeze of the warm summer day. His wife hadnt woken up yet, so he decidedto work out for awhile in the garden, have a shower and then go for a walk. Mario knew that everybody in theneighbourhood was staring at him, especially attractive women, whom he smiled at and asked, Hows it going?

Back home Mario was humming a sweet melody and thinking of how good-looking, smart and successful hewas, when he went into the house through the back door and met Anne, his beautiful and clever wife, who had beencooking his favourite meal. Mario felt elated, since Anne had forgiven him for his last love affair and allowed him to

come back home, therefore she would continue paying good money for his expensive whims, as he didnt like towork at all, but was obsessed with luxurious goods. After lunch, they were taking it easy and sunbathing by the swimming pool and the lush weeping willow. I dont

love Anne any more but this lifestyle is marvellous, Mario whispered while his wife was preparing some lemonade inthe kitchen. I definitely need to meet Laura again tonight, shes so exotic, he said referring to the young Brazilianwaitress at Giordanos he had been seeing for two weeks, but I have to be careful so that Anne suspects nothing. Then, his wife returned to the garden smiling at him.

How strange, Im shivering, but its so hot, Mario said shortly afterwards, when suddenly he started feeling verysick, probably due to spending so much time sunbathing. They went into the house and he tried to rest on the sofawhile his favourite TV programme was running. Mario took some pills just in case, but it seemed something reallyserious as he felt worse and worse.

Anne sat beside Mario to take care of him, but in spite of this, he started having convulsions and several minuteslater he had a heart attack. Then, while Mario was asking her for help she rushed out of the room, not to call anambulance, but to tidy up the kitchen and destroy the remaining poison.

Auguri per i tuoi 150 anniCiao cari amici come state?

A volte, come capita in

suddenly Alice, her best friend, came out of the ba-throom.

    Jos J Marquez, Manuel Jimnez

Alone in the boat in the middle of the sea on a beautiful but cold moonlight night

under the stars, they sail along pleasantly. They hug each other tenderly, gazing atthe skyline. Fortunately, everythings quiet now.Darling, never again will I buy a low-cost, return cruise ticket, I swear! .

fig, immobile, sans faire le moindre mouvement.

    Autumn

Have you ever thought about why we feel so sad whensummer ends? It could be because the holiday is over orbecause we have to come back to work, but the truth isthat we feel sad because autumn is coming...

Once upon a time, when the sun and the moon werelovers and the stars werent born yet, there were fourbeautiful and wise fairy sisters, with completely differenttemperaments. The eldest was Winter, a bit solitary, buta hard worker and a quick learner. The second was Spring,a spirited young girl, who loved jumping, singing, dancing, and looking after animals and plants. Her little sister wasSummer, she was very kind, but just as lazy; she lovedsitting beneath a grapevine in the garden to eat grapesor going to the beach for a swim with her friends, themermaids. The last one was the closest to her mother,Nature; she was Autumn, a melancholic and listless fairy

who spent her days thinking about finding true love.On a beautiful morning in September, her mother

decided to send them to know the world and to discoverthe wonders of Earth. So the fairies went out looking foradventures; they were so longing to get out that theyforgot all their differences.

The first place they went to was The North Pole, agorgeously cold place, which was full of reindeers, polarbears with their polar cubs, white foxes and seals. Noneof them was interested in it except Winter, who couldntstop thinking about how wonderful life must be there, sofar away from everywhere, so full of peace and quiet and

with so many things to learn. She was fascinated; as aresult, she told her sisters she would live there. Her sistersdidnt understand her choice, but they respected heropinion.

The next chosen stop was The Amazon Jungle, avast rainforest covered in unknown vegetation and full ofdiverse animal species. Spring thought about the fantasticwild life and how much fun she would have with all thosesmells, colours, animals and flowers. In spite of themarvellous views, just Spring was interested in it. At last, she decided to stay there.

A few days later, the young girls arrived at anastonishing oasis in the middle of an enormous desertwhere mango and palm trees bordered a crystalline lake. When Summer glimpsed so much beauty, she decidedto live there, the home of her dreams, with such delicious

    fruits and shadytrees.

After manymonths ofwalking aroundthe world, theyhad seen themost gorgeousand preciousw o n d e r screated by theirmother, Nature. As soon as they came back home to tellher their discoveries, they saw their mother sitting on areed mace chair, waiting for them next to the green grillein the living room. Nature received them laughing andcrying with happiness. At that moment, they caused an

enormous rainbow with the prettiest colours ever seen.Thirty minutes later, the girls began to speak about

which place they would like to live in if they could. Winterwas the first; she spoke about The North Pole and allits qualities. Then it was Springs turn, who told howmuch exotic beauty lived in the Amazon Jungle andSummer, the third, who was absolutely ecstatic, talkedabout the harmony and rest under the shady palm treesin the oasis. Nevertheless, Autumn stayed quiet andNature worried about her because she hadnt found herplace.

Next morning was a glorious day. Her sisters left and

she was devastated, alone with her mother, far from hersisters and without her own place to live.Time flies and Earth began to change until the humans

appeared. The sisters passed some time with humans;they helped them with their creations or just teased them.In those days, Autumn had lost every piece of hope andshe spent her time lying on a chair lamenting her sadness, but something was on the verge of happening.

One day, the fairy went for some water to the DreamFountain and she found a young man sitting on a rock, writing. Autumn approached him and read the poem hehad written; it was so sad, melancholic and beautiful, she felt her heart beating stronger than ever. At thatmoment she began to leave silently, but she tripped overa stone and when the boy saw her, he began to cry. Shedidnt understand so she asked him why he was crying. The young man told her that he was a wretched mortalpoet who had found his muse; she was so marvellousthat he could never write again without her inspirationbecause he had loved her even before knowing about herexistence. Then Autumn understood... Her home wasthe poets heart and she could not live without him everagain.

Since then, every time autumn is coming, we feel abit sorrowful. It is because the Muse, Autumn escaped

from the poets heart to pervade our souls with sadnessand to make the poets feel in their hearts the love thatshe felt. She wanted them to find true love without forgettingtheir muse, the melancholy - Autumn.

    HEIMLICHE LIEBE IN PARIS

    The price of glory

I entered the room concealed by the noise of the gunsthat broke the silence. He was in bed, resting becausethe bullet had passed near his heart. It was a miracle, hehad survived, but his days were numbered. I came toMadrid to kill a man. I dont understand heroes, only justice.

If someone reads this letter, Im Rafael, Colonel SergioRamoss personal doctor. There were difficult times and Iwas a doctor, - What could I do?-. Im not proud of thatbut I can not change anything. Meeting late in the afternoon,in the same place as always, we made a plan. There, were more and more of us, the ideas come to life in asociety full of cruelty and blood.

My closeness to the Colonel was crucial. Throughhim I learned of important meetings, who was going toprison and the most important of all who was to beexecuted. I felt strange that afternoon, something wasnt

right. The smell of gunpowder penetrated the bodies. We went to school as usual. Luis, the pharmacist;Andrs, the librarian; Pascual, a poor man who lived inthe countryside with his pigs and sheep everyone there,it was a day of celebration, the village raised its voiceand came to life.

While the meeting developed, aircraft flew over ourheads, -friends or enemies?- A shrill whistle and the soundof a bomb on nearby buildings put us on alert. We ranout but it was too late, the second bomb exploded nearus. Luis did not respond. The rest of the people weremoved to the camp outside the village near the olivetrees.

I saw her again, she was the wife of Andrs thelibrarian, she was helping the wounded. Wait!-, I said. No, I cant see or speak, or-, she said. Her eyesexpressed so much. My shoulder was bleeding and shecleaned the wound. Its not deep, but Ill have to stitchit-, she said. She lifted her face she was brave, warmand devoted to the cause. That day, I remembered hereyes expressing calmness, confidence and peace. Hertenderness shook my soul. How much lost time, howlong without seeing her.

We were going to stop. The plan was clear: to killhim and everything depended on me. The Colonelcalled me, he trusted me and needed medical assistance.

While attending him. I saw him reading a letter that hehad in his hands. Its the General, he was attacked -fucking scum idealist!- he said angrily, - Madrid will beours!-, he exclaimed. It will be a great day, but

Rafaelwe have to go, the General is wounded. Whilehe celebrated his enthusiasm, I kept the letter in themiddle of the medical material. It was time, the letterwas in my hands a day, an hour and a place. - Theprospect was great!, this is the moment- I thought. Thatsame night we passed the news to each other. Theybegan to arrive, men and women with something incommon- to end this damn war.

I could not believe what my eyes saw, -Ana!-, Iexclaimed. I approached her from the back. She wantedto tell me something but I did not understand, - listen tome!, I interrupted. I will not lose you again, - I cannot

sleep, I need to talk, I have not forgotten. Tomorrow willbe a big day, I have something important to do, - the warwill end, trust me!, but first I want to give you something-, I said. Do not go on talking, Rafael Andrs is closeand we cannot go through with this, - said Ana. I said:listen to me because I needed to talk to her. Whenwere together I feel perfect, invincible. I have not forgottenyour scent, your voice, your soul. You know that I woulddie for a hug. I cannot ask anything, promise me, thistime you will stay with me. I never thought I would saythis, but Im willing to take any risk. Ana looked downout of fear of being discovered by her husband, she was

    paralyzed, she was afraid.

We left that same night at the end of the meetingbecause the next morning I had to head to Madrid.Everyone trusted me, I could not fail them at the moment. Our bodies broke the night silence. My hands perceiveda multitude of sensations sliding through her skin. I lovedto hear her to sigh when my caresses sprout up as waterthrough her body. Her kisses sealed my lips. Beforesunrise, we said goodbye. - I dont want you to leave, you stay and I break barriers to be at your side, this warwas lost-, she said worried. But I left early in the morningand my heart weighed much more than my soul.

I came to Madrid. Everything was ready. Cities wentup in flames, the sound of bombs, violence this wasendless chaos. I made the poison in an old yellow glassbottle. I was surrounded by important people, and Istarted to attend on the General. I mixed the poisonwith an ointment so as to go unnoticed by the guards. Ismeared the wound with care not to catch the poison.

His eyes became purple and the white foam moistened. Those wild eyes could have killed anyone with that lookas they seemed to speak for themselves. He could notspeak because the ointment was a paralyzing potion. Ionly gave him the privilege of observing the end of hismiserable life.

The poison coursed through his veins and - he couldnot do anything!-, I think. I was careful because the guardsdid not stop watching me, I did not want them suspectinganything. His body went from cold to hot in secondsand, while his veins burned, sweat soaked his face slidingto his lips. He tried to talk, move his hands, call

someones attention but all to no avail. The poisonwas so powerful that he lost consciousness instantly. Ireassured the guards and I told them that the pain of thewound was so great that he had fainted. Let him rest!-, I said. They were not satisfied with my words but Ireassured them. I kept medical instruments and anyevidence that could betray me. He did not wake up

Ive killed him!- I thought as my heart raced -Ive killeda man!-.

I returned to the village. On the way, I could see citiesburnt in flames I heard the sound of bombs, violenceit was endless chaos. When I arrived, broken soulsroamed the streets, mourning the loss of a loved one.The bombs had done his work and I could not find her.The war took everything, my home, the woman I lovedmy soul. I once heard man is condemned to live theloneliness of despair in the adversity of fate.

    My Special Big World

My name is Flora I am 3 years old. And do you know what? I live in a specialworld where everything is huge! Its the same in my house: everything is very bigand I need help from mom and dad to do things. When I go out I have the samefeeling, street lamps seem to reach the sky and when I have to climb the steps ofsome streets I think that I am climbing an endless mountain, and then I need to

rest a little and sit on a bench. But why is it everything so big? I cant reachanything! Although it doesnt matter because I can always count on my mom andmy dads help. My cousin and my nanny always help me and pick me up so I canreach everything.

When I go to my grandparents I feel the same: safety door, couch, table, chairs, everything is big, even Arnold (my grandparents pet) is very big. Someti-mes, I think that he will eat me when he opens his big mouth to yawn But, again, mom is there to help me get everything I need. There is only one place whereeverything is my size. There is no problem because everything is within my reach, chairs are small and the desk, I can get to the blackboard and go to the bathroomon my own that is also my size. You know the place I mean? Yeeessssss!

Its my school, but there I miss much my mom because it is the only placethat I go without her.

Once I went to the cinema to see an animated movie. It was very exci-ting: the room was filled with seats. To reach my seat I had to go up a lotof steps and I finally got there but noooo! I couldnt see anything because Iam very small! Fortunately, my dad went for a baby seat and suddenly Icould see. It was wonderful, my first time was great, and there, everythingwas so great and bright... it was the big cinema screen. I had never seenanything like it, a myriad of colours in motion flooded my eyes. I could notbelieve what I was seeing and I thought that I had already seen everything;dad came with a giant carton of popcorn spilling everywhere. It seemed awonderful paradise of corn! Then I thought I never want to grow up. I adorethis huge world in which without knowing why I am the centre of attention.I hope I will never grow up and live forever in my special great world.
