People to People represents the culmination of President Eisenhower’s lifelong crusade for world peace. Eisenhower felt very strongly that everyday citizens of the world wanted peace and could attain it much more effectively without government interference. Eisenhower felt that face-to-face contact through various cultural activities, sports, and the arts would form enduring friendships among people of all cultures. As citizens interact with their peers from other nations by coming into each other’s homes, attending each others’ schools, and competing against one another in friendly contests of athletic skill, they will learn to appreciate each other and eradicate many misconceptions. As Ambassadors, you are part of that vision.

What is an Ambassador?
