Capitale du GoûtLebanon’s largest hospitality and food exhibition, HORECA 2010, closes its doors andconfirms Beirut as Capital du Goût

Under the Patronage of his Excellency the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Fadi Abboud, theeagerly anticipated hospitality and food services event, HORECA 2010, closed its doorsApril 30th under the esteemed title Beirut Rendez-vous du du goût.

The largest and most well-attended exhibition of its industry, HORECA 2010, a magnet for bothLebanon and the region’s hospitality industry, played an important role in boosting Lebanon’s economy.Participants extended from well beyond the region’s borders and included official pavilions from Cyprus, Egypt, Iran,Argentina, Poland and India. Individual participants also came from countries such as Canada, France, Jordan, Kingdom ofSaudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates, creating 350 exhibitors in total.

April 27th saw the Minister of Tourism , Mr. Fadi Abboud officially declare HORECA 2010 open with a ribbon cutting ceremo-ny. The four-day event attracted a staggering 20,000 visitors from various industry fields across the region who visited anextensive variety of exhibitors, and enjoyed shows, competitions, workshops and activities.

With 350 exhibitors and over 300 participants, not to mention the activities, competitions, live shows and workshops, it is nothard to see why HORECA 2010 has been deemed a complete success by those in the hospitality industry. With such an acco-lade we now look forward to HORECA 2011 which will be held from March 29 to April 1, and aim to build on our present suc-cess in order to create an even more successful exhibition for the benefit of those within the hospitality industry.

Stands & PavilionsThe largest and most well-attended exhibition ofits industry, HORECA 2010, a magnet for bothLebanon and the region’s hospitality industry,plays an important role in boosting Lebanon'seconomy. Participants extended from wellbeyond the region's borders and includedofficial pavilions from Cyprus, Egypt, Iran,Argentina, Poland and India. Individualparticipants also came from countries such asCanada, France, Jordan, Kingdom of SaudiArabia, Lebanon, Syria, and the United ArabEmirates, creating 350 exhibitors in total.Others included the Wine and Drinks, the Coffeeand Tea, the Schools and Universities and theConsulting, Recruting and Franchise pavilions.

Hospitality AnnualAward Gala Dinner…

A gala dinner, for over 300 dignitaries, washosted by Le Royal hotel, Dbayeh, and wasattended by Fadi Abboud and Maha Khatib,Lebanon and Jordan’s tourism ministers. Theevent paid tribute to five women pioneers in thefield of hospitality: Myrna Boustany, Maya NounBekhazi, Sawsan Wazzan Jabri, Lina Letayf andChristine Assouad Sfeir. The climax of theevening was the “Nouhad Dammous ExcellenceAward” which was granted to Maher Aoun ofSagesse University.Guests were treated to a fabulous “ChocolateCatwalk”. The most beautiful dress, which wasdesigned by an Esmod fashion student andexecuted by Hanna Khalil, chef of Le Meilleur,was awarded first prize.The models hair was by Tony Ibrahim, make upby Kyphi, and the dress fabric by Ets. … and Chocolate CatwalkThe Chocolate Catwalk, a unique fashion show of 16exquisite chocolate dresses designed by students ofLebanon’s Esmod fashion university and executedby chefs from well-known establishmentsthroughout the country, dazzled an audience ofsector professionals during the Gala Dinner at LeRoyal Hotel, Dbayeh on Wednesday 28 April 2010.

The catwalk wowed its viewers with clothes adornedin chocolate masterpieces made entirely fromCallebaut chocolate and chocolate alone. And, ofcourse, the chocolate used was none other thanCallebaut. The panel of renowned judges wascomposed of Abed Mahfouz, the A-List Lebanesefashion designer, Alice Edde, owner of touristdestination Edde Sands, Christiane Tawil, editor-in-chief of Deco Magazine, Elias Feghali of EMF TradingCallebaut Chocolate’s representative in the MiddleEast, Hadrien Jauny from France and chef YiannosGregoriou from the Four Seasons hotel Cyprus.

Air France offered two Premium Economytickets to the winning student Hussein Bazazaand chef Hanna Khalil enabling them to visitthe Esmod School in Paris.
