REVERSAL OF WORD ORDER
• A reversal of word order may occur in a number of situations, including cases in which certain adverbs, adverbial expressions, and negative conjunctions are placed at the beginning of a sentence.
Examples:
• Frank has never arrived late.
• Edward seldom talks to strangers.
Never
has Frank arrived late.
Seldom
does Edward talk to strangers.
Expressions with ONLY
• William will only survive after a surgery.
• Jimmy could get a good grade because he studied hard.
Only after a surgery, will William survive.
Only by studying hard. , could Jimmy get a good grade.
• In no case _________________ your mother’s money. (you should accept)
• On no account __________________her job. (Joanne should quit)
• Never _________ such an idiot person. (I have seen)
