3. At this time, we will be communicating most regularly through our parish Facebook page (@SJDanville). You can FOLLOW us to receive our regular updates. Also, you can go to our parish YouTube page (St. Joseph Church, Danville, PA --https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYRgR5C3jawaU2DjJQxX1kQ) to view recorded Masses and other offerings. Sunday and weekday Masses will be posted there by 10 am at the latest each day. Our parish website (www.stjosephdanville.org) will also be kept up-to-date with information. 4. Please note, per the diocesan directives, palms were blessed at Mass last weekend. When the situation improves, they will be made available for everyone. 5. An update on our Diocesan Annual Campaign. As you may know, our parish assessment this year is $106,484. So far, as of last week, we have pledges and cash received amounting to $ $72,620.19. This means we are over 68% of the way to our goal! Thank you very much for your continued generosity and support – I truly appreciate it all!! 6. The Second Sunday of Easter is also known as Divine Mercy Sunday – celebrating the unfathomable riches of God’s infinite mercy towards us. That day, Eucharistic Adoration will take place in the school vestibule (the front of the school) from 12 to 4 pm. You are asked to remain in your cars to keep physical distancing while adoring the Blessed Sacrament. A special pre-recorded Holy Hour will be available on our parish YouTube page for you to play in your car during your time of Eucharistic Adoration if you like. Our parish Wi-Fi works in the parking lot (I checked) so you don’t have to use data. The login is ‘SJC’ and the password is ‘danville’. Since the parking lot is very small, and can only accommodate so many cars, perhaps those interested in participating could spread out their time of visits. 7. A special thank you for your prayers, your notes of encouragement and support, your goodies, and your thoughtfulness. I am blessed to serve this parish family.
God bless your week – Fr. Marcoe
DIOCESAN ANNUAL CAMPAIGN The 2020 Diocesan Annual Campaign is underway. Our goal for this year is $106,484.00. Any donations collected that exceed our goal come back to the parish. Thank you for your generosity!
REFLECTION FOR OUR 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEDICATION OF ST. JOSEPH CHURCH “Everything that will happen until the end of the world will be no more than an extension and unfolding of what happened on the day when the battered body of the Crucified Lord was raised by the power of the Spirit and became in turn the wellspring of the Spirit for all humanity. Christians know that there is no need to wait for another time of salvation, since, however long the world may last, they are already living in the last times. . . Keeping Sunday holy is the important witness which they are called to bear, so that every stage of human history will be upheld by hope.” (Dies Domini 75)
WERE YOU MARRIED IN 1970? In honor of your 50
th Wedding Anniversary, there will be a special Mass and
reception on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Parish in Camp Hill. Bishop Ronald W. Gainer will be the celebrant. To receive an invitation, please contact your parish office.
DANVILLE FOOD BANK had a successful give-away on Saturday, giving out food to over 350 families (just under 1000 fed). The next give-away is being planned for May 9th, 10-1:00. They are currently accepting donations of non-perishable food items to take care of crisis calls between now and then, but are seeking cash donations (to purchase grocery gift cards) to augment whatever they are able to get from the state food bank. Donations can be dropped off in the entryway at Shiloh UCC (512 Bloom Street ) between 8-5:00. Financial donations should be made out to Danville Food Bank and brought in or mailed to Shiloh.
Easter Sunday
1. He is risen! He is risen indeed! A very happy and blessed Easter Sunday to you and all your loved ones. May the joy of Jesus, who once was dead, but who now lives for ever, be in your hearts for the 50 days of this joyful season and beyond!
2. An Easter Prayer to the Risen Christ by St. Ephrem the Syrian (born 306 AD): O Jesus, King, receive my prayer, and consider my supplication as a pledge to You. For you, O living King, have gone forth and gone up out of Hell, as Conqueror. Woe to those who have rejected you; For, to evil spirits and demons, you are sorrow, to Satan and to Death, you are pain, To Sin and Hell, you are mourning. Yet, O how joy has come today, for those who are born anew. Therefore, on this great day, we give great glory to You, who died and is now alive, that to all you may give life and resurrection!
