SICKNESS AND DISTRESS CORNER

A tragic accident took the life of brother Peter Volden, 58, beloved husband to Cheryl and father to Joshua and Amanda. A memorial service and celebration of life was held on Saturday October 26th. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.

Alyce Nelson is recovering from neck surgery, we wish her a speedy recovery.

MOOSETTES,” I cannot believe how quickly this year is FLYING by! We have made great strides and accomplishments so far this year. Thanks to all who supported the cradle fund raiser. As a result of your contributions we sent $200 to Moose Charities in celebration of 100 years of

Mooseheart. A special shout out to Terri Guerrero and Sharon Miller who led this effort.

Thank you to all who attended our WOTM October activity night. Our “Christmas in October” was a great success. The chapter sent $250 to Moose Charities to ensure all residents at Mooseheart and Moosehaven have gifts this holiday season, great Christmas parties and decorations for their residences.

A very special thanks to “Santa” ( Peter Volden) for coming to our activity night. It was a very warm evening but Peter did his Santa best to ensure we all thought it was already December. And a special thank you to Cheryl for sharing Peter with us. Our WOTM board and co-workers enjoyed taking pictures on Santa's lap.

As the Holidays draw near our lodge is getting ready for many events. November 22nd we will have our Thanksgiving dinner with our Moose family. Please make sure you sign up if you plan on attending. We want to ensure we have enough for all. In addition there will be the float for the Oxnard Christmas parade, Breakfast with Santa and our New Year's party this year will be with a LIVE BAND.

FROM THE GOVERNOR’S DESK

On Friday November 22, we will have our annual thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings. Mark your calendars and plan on coming down to spend time with other lodge members. PLEASE remember to call the lodge at 805-483-0204 to RSVP or put your name on the list at the lodge so we have a head count.

Our Wednesday night dinners have steadily dropped off over the past few months, the board and our kitchen manager Diane have decided starting in November to cut back to only two Wednesdays a month. If it still does not improve we will eliminate Wednesday night dinners altogether starting in December.

I will say that our Taco Tuesdays have been a huge success thanks to all our members coming out and supporting the women in their Tuesday night fundraiser. A Huge shout out to all that have stepped up to help with the cooking, serving, cleaning and bartending. Let’s not forget our DJ Joe! Thank You all.

Our Friday night dinners have begun to increase also. As a reminder we have started the King of Hearts (K of H) fundraiser on Friday nights. Come on down and enjoy dinner and enter the K of H and spend time with friends, it’s open to all members and qualified guests.
