How many times did it say Jesus was moved with compassion, how many times did he weep.. the bible prophesied. Isaiah 53:3–6 (NKJV) 3 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. In the garden.. Matthew 26:37–38 (NKJV) 37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” Hebrews 4:15 (NKJV) 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 39 Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to

Him, "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days." 40 Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ hold on to .. faith.. A village has been here since at least Roman times, and nearby was an Iron Age settlement that is believed to be the biblical Ananiah in the territory of Benjamin (Neh. 11:32) that is called Bethany in the New Testament (Beth Ananiah = Bethany).

There is no record of a church in Bethany in the 4th century, although both Eusebius the historian and the Bordeaux pilgrim (333) mention the tomb of Lazarus in a vault or crypt. Around 490 AD, St. Jerome recorded visiting the Tomb of Lazarus as the guest room of Mary and Martha, which is the Lazarium mentioned by the pilgrim Egeria in her account of the liturgy on Saturday in the seventh week of Lent:

Just on 1:00 everyone arrives at the Lazarium, which is Bethany... by the time they arrive there, so many people have collected that they fill not only the Lazarium itself, but all the fields around. (trans. J. Wilkinson) This structure known as the Lazarium was destroyed in an earthquake and was replaced by a larger Church of St. Lazarus in the 6th century. The church was mentioned by Theodosius before 518 and by Arculf around 680, and survived intact until Crusader times.

During the Crusades, King Fulk and Queen Melisande purchased the village of Bethany from the Patriarch of the Holy Sepulchre in 1143 in exchange for land near Hebron. Melisande built a large Benedictine convent dedicated to Mary and Martha, extensively repaired the old church of Lazarus and rededicated it to Mary and Martha. She also built a new west church to St. Lazarus over his tomb; fortified the monastic complex with a tower; and endowed it with the estates of the village of Jericho.

The convent of Sts. Mary and Martha became one of the richest convents in the Kingdom of Jerusalem. Melisande's sister Joveta was elected abbess at the age of 24. Afer the fall of the Crusader kingdom in 1187, the nuns went into exile. The new west church was probably destroyed at this time, with only the tomb and barrel vaulting surviving; the 6th-century church and tower were heavily damaged but remained standing.

4

The village seems to have been abandoned thereafter, but a visitor in 1347 mentioned Greek monks attending the tomb chapel. By 1384, a mosque had been built on the site. In the 16th century, the Mosque of al-Uzair (Ezra) was built in the Crusader vault, which initially made Christian access to the tomb more difficult. However, the Franciscans were permitted to cut a new entrance on the north side of the tomb and at some point the original entrance from the mosque was blocked (photo, right).

In 1952-55 a modern Franciscan church dedicated to St. Lazarus was built over the Byzantine church of St. Lazarus and Crusader east church of Sts. Mary and Martha. In 1965, a Greek church was built just west of the Tomb of Lazarus.1

you can see here were the tomb entrance has been blocked.

this is a tomb in Israel, this is what it would have looked like, and what Jesus’ tomb would have looked like Lazarus did die again, he has another tomb you can visit if you go to cypress. He became the first bishop or pastor of that area churches. Tradition says that on Paul’s first missionary journey they anointed him to be the pastor over the churches there. He lived another 30 years after him being raised from the dead. At the age of 60 he dies and was buried in his own church in cypress. In 890 they were digging this church and they found the tomb. The tomb is there today. 2 (Note: An alternate legend has Lazarus and his sister Mary landing in Provence, and having his tomb at the Cathédrale St-Lazare in Autun, France. This was destroyed in the Revolution, but a church in Marseilles still claims to have his head.)3

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And

Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 "And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

we can say this.. we know you always hears us. When we say FATHER.. he is there.. the prayer he prays we can pray.. Father I know you hear me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come

forth!" 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Loose him, and let him go." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ He had to say Lazarus or all would have come forth. Don’t you love this story, would you love to have a picture? Before and after Mary and Martha and there faces, I see them saying Lord if you would have been here, he would not have died, and now there brother. And there is Lazarus. When a person was wrapped in grave clothes its not like a mummy, hands tied, feet tied, the jaw tied shut, coins on the eyes.. A vivid picture is drawn of Lazarus stepping out of the grave. He was bound hand and foot (literally, bound with respect to the feet and the hands) with grave bands, strips of linen wrapped around the limbs. Nothing is said here about a white, winding sheet around the body. It seems that though bound hand and foot, Lazarus was able to walk, though perhaps with difficulty. And his face was bound about (or: wrapped around) with a sweat-band or napkin. The word used (σουδάριον) is derived from the Latin sudarium, from sudor, to which our English word sweat is directly related; hence, we translate sweat-band. See also on 20:7; cf. Luke 19:20; Acts 19:12.4 Now the brief description, “bound hand and foot,” the passive perfect participle: bound thus when entombed and now in that condition. The Greek has plural accusatives, loosely attached to the passive participle: “the feet and the hands,” our idiom has “hand and foot.” The κειρίαι are linen strips (note the singular σινδών in Matt. 27:59) wound around and thus binding the body. Around the head and covering the face a sudarium, literally “sweatcloth,” was bound, no other wrappings being used. From the early days onward it was considered part of the miracle that the body thus wrapped and swathed and rendered helpless came forth from the tomb. It was supposed that the power of Jesus raised the body to its feet and made it float forward. A recent writer thinks of “the miraculous floating upward of a mummy,” confusing Egyptian with Jewish swathings.5 4 Hendriksen, W., & Kistemaker, S. J. (1953-2001). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 45 Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did,

believed in Him. 46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ we see in these verses the great divide, this is the way it is. This does not make since but it is what it is.. people see with there eyes, they see the truth and still they go the opposite direction. They are told the truth, they are know what they are doing is wrong and still do it. When Israel got in trouble it says . that everyone did what was right in there own eyes. They did there own thing.. yes well , I’m telling on you.. there are some that find faith, and some find fault, they say wait I don't believe, why don't you believe, in some ways, it was there Job: the Pharisees would have been the ones to tell. The Sadducees did not believe in a resurrection at all the great issue that divided the Sadducees and the Pharisees was the matter of the resurrection, The Sadducees read nothing concerning a resurrection in the Torah, the only books they accepted. The Pharisees could find proof of it throughout their bible, which included the Law as well as the prophets. It took a greater issue to bring them together: Jesus The Sadducees, Wealthy, aristocratic, and in control. The Pharisees, poor mostly, working class, , back to the bible folk. Separately they had been fighting for control of the people . The Sadducees controlled the Temple, worship and sacrifice. They held the majority in the Sanhedrin. But the Pharisees seemed to have won the hears of the people with their teaching about the coming of the Messiah. the Pharisee were the separate sect that is what the name implies, given the responsibility to discern between that which was holy and that which was common, cleans and unclean. We would have found fellowship with the Pharisee, in a time that the second century before Christ you could not see the different between the Jew and the gentle, it was this group that came and said if no one is going to act like a real Jew, we will , it was the group that came the Pharisee, that we read about, as they tried to hold on to scriptural purity, and sadly enough moving away from the word they moved closer to tradition, the word became less and less value to them, before I find fault.

8

The Pharisee, was only trying to do his job, so they thought 1 John 4:1 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. I love the heart of the early first Pharisee, this was his heart, his heart was not to just believe just any prophet that came on the scene but to examine the prophet to see if what was being said lined up. We need to do this today, but to be open to see what God has. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, "What shall we

do? For this Man works many signs. 48 "If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- what are they doing here, is they are voting on Jesus, we don't vote on Jesus, they voted which scriptures this is what the Jesus similar does, I think this is truth or this and they vote on it, when did we start voting on truth, --------------------------- here is a problem, if everyone believes, and what would happen, this is our place = this word employs power, position , policy, if everyone begins to believe in Jesus we will miss the income that flow in the synagogue this cant happen. The fear, the Flesh gets in the way, I don't see it that way it will effect our position, it will effect me, me. -------- this has to stop we all know how the Romans deal with this kind of stuff. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

49 And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember Caiaphas is Annas the high priests son-in-law. Not a good guy.. his sarcophagus has been found- he was the high priest – THAT YEAR…

9

11:49-50. Caiaphas was the high priest that year (cf. 18:13-14, 24, 28). Originally the high priest held his position for a lifetime, but the Romans were afraid of letting a man gain too much power. So the Romans appointed high priests at their convenience. Caiaphas had the office from A.D. 18 to 36. His contempt was expressed in his words, You know nothing at all! His judgment was that this Man must be sacrificed if the nation was to continue in Rome’s favor. The alternative was destruction of the Jewish nation in war (11:48). But their rejection of Jesus did not solve the problem. The Jewish people followed false shepherds into a war against Rome (A.D. 66-70), which did in fact destroy their nation.6 The high priest were for a lift time but the Romans did not like anyone having that much power so they shifted them around, Annas has some dealings in this because his five sons succeeded him and now Caiaphas, his son-in-law. Papa Annas was in control, he ran the money changes, it was called the Bazaar of Annas. According to John 18 Jesus at his arrest was brought to Annas first. Caiaphas was the High priest ‘That year’ Caiaphas bone box.. in it was the bones of a 60 year old man.7 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You know nothing at all, 50 "nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man

should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish." 51 Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus

would die for the nation, 52 and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now this is a trip.. 11:51-53. John by God’s Spirit recognized a deep irony in Caiaphas’ words. As the high priest, Caiphas pointed to the last sacrificial Lamb in a prophecy he did not even know he made. Caiphas meant Jesus had to be killed, but God intended the priest’s words as a reference to His substitutionary atonement. Jesus’ death would abolish the old system in God’s eyes by fulfilling all its types and shadows. His death was not only for Jews but

also for the world, thus making a new body from both (cf. Eph. 2:14-18; 3:6). The Sanhedrin then decided to kill Jesus.8 The Gospel will Go out, in Revelation the bible says: Revelation 14:6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth -- to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people -- (NKJV) God will get the word out, but he desires to use you, he want to use you to do it… That Caiaphas had the gift of prophecy should not fool us. Like Balaam in the Old Testament, this rascal could utter a true prophecy.9 Little did Caiaphas know that what he said was inspired by the Spirit. This shows me something about our Lord. God can use anyone to speak His heart, to reveal His truth. Caiaphas was a loser, a charlatan, a fleecer. Yet the Spirit still inspired him at this moment to speak truth. Just as Caiaphas prophesied, one Man did indeed die—not only for the nation, but for the sins of all men. God can use a Caiaphas; God can use a donkey (Numbers 22), a neighbor, a professor, or any other voice He chooses to speak truth. Be wary of the mind-set that thinks if a person isn’t born-again, he cannot speak truth. God can use anyone.10 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 53 Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death. 54 Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim, and there remained with His disciples. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11:54. Jesus . . . withdrew from Bethany to a village 15 or so miles to the north called Ephraim. The little village provided a place for rest and it was close to the wilderness of Judea in case it was necessary to escape.11

Jesus goes from Ephraim "along the border between Samaria and Galilee", encountering 10 lepers on the way; Luke 17:11--19. From there he goes through Jericho and Perea to Jerusalem, still speaking of his Passion; Luke 17:25 and 18:31--34. The comparison of Luke 9:52--53 and 17:11 supports John's construction.

12 on with this very same lesson. And he said, we know that when this earthly tent, the body in which we presently live, is dissolved, that we then have a building of God that is not made with hands -- that is eternal in the heaven. He's talking about the new body that I have. God has prepared a new body for me. A building of God not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. So then, we who are in this body do groan -- earnestly designed to move out of them. Not that I would be an unembodied spirit, but I want to move into that new building, that new body. I want to be clothed upon with that new body which is from heaven. For I know that as long as I'm living in this body -- as long as Chuck is living in this old body, I am absent from the Lord. But I would choose rather to be absent from this body and to be present with the Lord in that new body. Jesus said, "in my Father's house are many mansions. I'm going to prepare one for you." He's talking about that new body that he's gone to prepare for you. Glorious new mansion my spirit's going to move into. Now, I am always interested in the capacities of this body. I sought to find the limits of the capacity of this body. And it's always interesting to find out just how high this body

can jump; how fast it can run -- and things of that nature, as you test your body to its limits. It'll be very interesting to discover the limits of our new bodies, which I'm sure are vastly superior to these. Now, there s a natural body; there is the spiritual body, and so it is written in verse 45: 13 ------------------- 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. In death or rature we are going to get a new body one day.. Philippians 3:20–21 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. ------------ THERE IS A JUDGMENT DAY… The person who will not assume the risks involved in becoming a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ will, in the long run, lose his life eternally. The opposite is also true. At Christ’s second coming all accounts will be settled and everyone will receive his proper rewards.14 When we die –we all go right to the judgment.. a. In the past, God dealt with us as sinners (Eph. 2:1-3 1 Cor 6:9-11; Rom. 5:6-8 ) b. In the present, God deals with us as sons (Rom. 8:14; Heb 12:5-11; 1 John 3:1, 2).

This word is used 12 times in the bible, most of the time standing for where paul stood to be judged. We can see one today .. this occurs in heaven this is a judgment of believer, a awards ceremony. And this is the way we want to look at this, yet when you look up the word BEMA and you travel to places such as Phillippi or Corinth and you stand in front of a bema you get the idea.. it’s a court, it’s a place of judgment. We might say yes a awards ceremony but that would not be so honest.

Herod Agrippa addressed the people at Tyre and sydon

John 19:13When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus out and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha.

( Silverware - Coat ) there is a day coming that we will be judged by a righteous judge, and he will determine our net worth, who we REALLY are, not what the world sees but who are we really.. we will stand before him according to truth we will see us as we really are/ this should cause us to flee to Jesus, If we think we are better than someone else or not as guilty. God will judge us according to the faces Hebrews 4:13 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. they are laid bare, he is going to Judge us. the second way God is going to judge us is according to our attunes God is the only one that can truly judge because he sees all things he knows the hereto of all man and he is all knowing so his judgment will be just and true. in that day when he does judge we will say righteous father . we are called to love people and leave the judging up to him. Judging in this condemning fashion is up to God we are not to judge condemning he is the one we are to love people

Eternal life---which is the free gift of God to all those who receive Jesus Christ as Lord---is a kind of time dimension characterized not only by endless duration, but by very high quality. God's time has richness, variety, freedom from boredom and endless diversity. Living in fellowship with Him who is Life is not only liberating but exciting beyond the power of language to describe. Eternity does not mean timelessness, except perhaps for those in hell.

"O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! 'For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?' 'Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?' For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory for ever. Amen." (Romans 11:33-36)

--------------------------------------------------------------------- For those who do not know Christ.. we will talk about Hell later, there is NO second chance there is NO limbo ---------- in this life what are we to be doing accourding the word.. LIVING FOR JESUS / OTHERS / then OURSELF Then when we get to heaven.. You will receive a reward. TURN TO : REV. 21 What does it mean to overcome… 1 John 5:1–5 (NKJV) 1Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world— our faith. 5Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
