The digital repeaters have input intrinsically safe and galvanically isolated for digital signals on/off from: proximity
sensors NAMUR, dry contacts (end-of-course key, pressure switches, thermostats, buttonholes, level switches, etc),
installed in hazardous areas, freeing them from the risk of explosion.

• Proximity sensors NAMUR type.
The digital repeaters have an internal circuit in conjunction with
the input, which allows the monitoring of interconnection with the
field element. Its functions is to detect the occurrence of a short
circuit or break in the cabling of the field element.

Digital drives have been specially developed to provide power supply for field devices. Have outputs intrinsically safe for
powering Exi circuits, installed in hazardous areas ridding them of any risk of explosion.

Logic Input of Control
Its function is to command the activation of the field element being designed in order to consume low enery levels. For
the perfect functioning of the entrance it is necessary that the signal applied is in square wave with level "1" equivalent
of 5 to 24Vdc. To level "0" must apply a voltage 0 to 3Vdc and the field element is triggered when the logic input is with
level "1" and drive with power supply.

decreased or increased.
Namur sensors are very similar to conventional direct current sensors,differing only for not having output stage with switching transistor.
Another typical application for Namur sensor is areas with potentiallyexplosive atmospheres, such as do not have output stage, need anamplifier for high power switching .
Can be constructed according to the intrinsic safety rules wich provide the manipulation of low power preventing the detonation of the atmosphereby an electrical spark or thermal effect of heated surfaces.
Principle of Operation
The circuit consumes a current of approximately 3mA, when it is deactivated. With the approach of the metal target thatabsorbs energy from the electromagnetic field, the current consumption drops to about 1mA. This is because the sensors are specially designed according to the specification of technique norm DIN 19234, which provides the sensor without the outputstage.
External Amplifier
As the inductive Namur type sensor do not have internal amplifier must be connected to external amplifier that detects thechange in current between 3mA and 1mA and may trigger a transistor for switching of power loads.
Intrinsically Safe Barrier
Namur sensors must be connected to an intrinsically safe digital repeaters (intrinsic safety barriers), which are the devicesthat can limit the electric power sent to the sensor, so does not exist energy stored in the sensor able to detonate theexplosive atmosphere.
CareIntrinsic safety barriers can present itselg as amplifiers that are not suitable for intrinsically safe installations and endangerthe safety of the installation.
