Education

Master of Science, Chemistry—Petrochemical and Process Chemistry Specialization-- University of Houston Clear Lake - May 2015

OBJECTIVE

To obtain a position utilizing technical, manufacturing and R & D experience to promote business growth in a petrochemical/chemical Company.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Technical Applications Support—Process on-line analyzers, Gas Chromatography/Elemental, applications, Petroleum Analyzer Company, Houston, TX 11/2011 – Present

Assist clients including channel partners, sales associates and customers in hardware, software and chemistry-related operating issues for on-line Process and elemental/chromatography laboratory specialized instrumentation.

Applications support for petrochemical refinery streams, bio-refinining products pharmaceutical, biodiesel, food products, and polymers. Assist clients with best parameters based on physical, chemical properties of particular products to evaluate chemicals and provide process evaluation and end product quality.

Interface role between customer and sales/Engineering including feedback and suggestions from existing clients to improve product quality, service and utility.

Craft professional communications including work instructions, root cause summaries, operating procedures as well as administrative functions—ERP

Perform customer visits including repairs—hardware, software and applicationsAchievements Consistently receive positive feedback from customers about excellent, timely and quality technical assistance with their products and applications. Results include documented instrument purchases and service contract, repeat customers and increased revenues.

Research Chemist, R & D, The Dow Chemical Company, Deer Park, TX 11/2005 – 11/2011

Served as project lead for major process upset mitigation project for largest monomer (coatings raw product) producer in North America. Attended strategy meetings presenting conclusions and data compiled from myself and two Senior

Scientists. Served as point person for Process Scientists and Project engineers and provided input and direction for further analytical work to my team members.

Contributed scientific input and detailed analytical expertise to project teams addressing process optimization, new process technology, raw materials qualification and plant emergencies for monomer production for end use as automotive coatings, powders and acrylic based construction products.

Conducted in-depth background research (via journals, web, internal memorandums) into optimizing techniques, sample preparation and other similar elucidative techniques.

Performed Gas Chromatography mass spectral interpretation and fragmentation techniques i.e. Chemical Ionization, Electron Ionization.

Presented findings in face-to-face meetings with researchers and supervisors and emails, data charts and technical communications.

Mentored new hires and senior to laboratory technician. Instrumentation: Agilent 5975 triple axis Quadrupole GC-MS; GC, LC, IC,

Titration, Wet Chemistry; Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC).

Achievements Consistently provide quality, reliable data allowing substantial savings from new suppliers (2010 EBIT $29MM), expedite plant troubleshooting and downtime through accurate determination of process malefactors; elevated status from Research Technician to Research Chemist through demonstrated ability to independently provide significant conclusions based on data backed by experiment and theory.

Gas chromatography, physical testing technician, Inspectorate America Corporation, Pasadena, TX 01/2004 - 11/2005

Conducted ASTM testing on mostly refinery petroleum products as well as chemicals.

Gas chromatography testing included following ASTM methods for the quantification of key components in gasoline and assay analyses for chemicals. Detectors included FID, TCD, MSD

Physical testing included specific gravities, distillations and viscosities on crude oils, jet fuels, and kerosene.

Employed state of the art inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer to evaluate low level metal content in hydrocarbon matrices.

AchievementsWrote Standard Operating Procedures for quantifying methanol in crude oil and high temperature simulated distillation for crude oil.
