Key Achievements

Shut down and cleaned all process units in area with no incidents. Promoted and maintained a safe work environment in which area operations personnel earned and were awarded an enhanced safety and attendance bonus in the sum of 10,000 dollars at the conclusion of their employment for exceptional performance.

Operations Area Turnaround Coordinator (Acting) Hovensa LLC,

Collaborated with Turnaround Maintenance Coordinator, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Inspection, and Engineering providing oversight, coordination and completion of all pre-turnaround and turnaround activities and objectives in the area while being completed safely, on time and under budget.

Key Achievements

Completed a combination turnaround of two units - No.1 LPG Unit and Iso-pentane Sweetening unit in 2011 and successfully achieved 0 lost time injuries. Initiated and successfully completed an engineering modification (MOC) of heater isolation valves that produced 50% recovery time reduction from an unplanned furnace shutdown.

Lead Operator, Environmental and PSM compliance Hovensa LLC,

Interfaced with Environmental and Process Safety Management personnel and ensured compliance with all regulatory requirements -the Clean Air Act and Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA), company policies and continuous improvement. Participated in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Pre Start up Safety Review (PSSR) and coordinated tasks to identify and manage hazardous and non hazardous waste for storage and disposal.

Key Achievements

Ensured Unit equipment and piping become compliant with the Clean Air Act by initiating a Management Of Change to modify drains on LPG and Light Hydrocarbon pumps to a double block valve isolation system and eliminated detection of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emission.

Key Achievements

Managed the new construction of piping for LPG service, manifold and transfer; provided input as the Subject Matter Expert. Initiated steam pressure test of the Benzene Tower to ensure integrity after repairs were completed and detected a leak at close proximity of repairs done. The pressure test proved critical to effect prevention of the release, exposure and migration of Benzene to employees, contractors and the communities near the Refinery.

Supervised operations turnaround work crew. Generated and maintained Hazardous Energy Isolation forms, blind lists, marked Piping and Instrument Diagrams, and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Attended daily meeting for safety, turnaround review, progress and goal completion.

Key achievements

Completed 3 LPG Frac unit turnaround in 2009 with over a hundred contract maintenance craftsmen working 6 days on 10 hour shifts and achieved a milestone of 0 lost time injuries. Guided 2 LPG unit in 2008 to completion under budget and ahead of schedule with no lost injuries. Managed No. 2 Gas Recovery unit turnaround during Coker Block Turnaround in 2005 and completed under budget and ahead of time with 0 lost time injuries.

Managed subordinate operator daily tasks and non routine events; provided subject matter expert support.
