Personal Background In nursing school I had a strong passion for psychiatric nursing because of its prevalence in our veteran population. Since having my RN I started as an on-‐call employee in August of 2014. Six months after being at Navos management asked me if I would consider a full-‐time position. Management approached me again shortly after accepting their offer for a permanent position inquiring about my stance on orientating to charge nurse for the floor. I also accepted this offer and for the past three months have been the fill-‐in charge for the majority of the shifts I work. I am thankful for this opportunity and would love to utilize the knowledge gained by giving back to individuals who are in need of the most support and compassion. In the military I served as an infantry Marine. I was awarded a good conduct medal, which illustrates an individual’s outstanding and honorable service while continuing to lead by example for three consecutive years; I also maintained a team leader position at this time. While serving I was deployed to Iraq twice; the first time was in 2006 and the second time in 2007. During this time my fellow Marines and I were able to preform necessary life saving interventions when necessary. We were also awarded a Joint Service Medal for our support in aiding the Iraq Army. The last year of my duty consisted of trained enlisted and officer Marines on the necessary tactics needed to be successful while on their deployments.
Activities/Awards n Served on Kent State University’s distinguished teacher’s award committee n Graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude n Master Physical Trainer Certification n Served as Communications Director of our campus’ student nurse organization S.C.R.U.B.S. n Participated in development of an environmental conservation organization by the name of T.A.S.K (Taking Action

Healthcare” training course n Obtained certificate of completion from Institute for Healthcare Improvement for “Teamwork and
Communication” training course n Received a letter of recognition for outstanding academic performance from Senator Scott Oelslager on multiple
occasions n Completion of Fred Pryor CareerTrack course “Essential Skills for the First-‐Time Manager or Supervisor”
