WORK EXPERIENCEEngineering TECH II Texas Department of Transportation May 2015- San Antonio, TX, 78229 July 2016 As Engineering TECH working for TxDOT I took on the responsibility of managing a multitude of

responsibilities centered around a project manager’s role. As the project lead I managed various lifecycle processes of moderate to highly budgeted government transportation construction projects/contracts, ranging from 5 million to 50 million dollars.

These job responsibilities in regards to the management of the overall project lifecycle are applicable from the initial preparation of the projects planning through execution and all the way to verifying punch list completion and directing follow-up maintenance.

During this initial project phase my duties included contributions to the pre-project planning meetings with all the contract entities such as the design engineer, contractors, subcontractors and all other project party members.

While attending these meetings, I would review plan specifications and estimates, go over the project phases and the sequence of each contractor’s role to ensure a seamless execution of project processing, milestone deadlines and smooth transitions between contractor contributions to job functions.

During this preplanning phase, it was important that I exercised effective communication to clearly define all project variables and ensure compliance to regulations set by the engineering and government code specifications requirements were to be upheld.

I would exercise logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make decisions that support the overall business objectives and goals.

During the execution phase of each project the job responsibilities centered around, Leading, assigning, reviewing and monitoring the work of the contractors.

I managed the implementation of efficient planning, coordinating, and handling of multiple projects within responsibilities to meet short and long term deadlines. On average, I would manage 3 ongoing projects consecutively while being a contributing factor in other team member’s projects.

Furthermore, I managed construction inspections and checked up on non-routine contract maintenance, post project completion, to validate quality workmanship and proper up=keep methods were being followed. This was to ensure the contractors built and maintained the highway structures in accordance with plans and specifications that would maximize the longevity of the structural lifespan.

Constantly maintained relations for ensuring effective working relationships with contractors and all project member to ensure smooth planning and project congruency during execution.

Prepared and maintaining project records, files, and reports. Monitored contract budget, payments, and ensured procedures followed code specifications. Maintained the role of lead point of contact for contractors, subcontractors, and cross-team members on multiple projects

simultaneously that entailed daily communication in regards to documenting project progression reports. During these consults with the contractor’s discussions covered managing their compliance with project inspection methods, procedures and techniques, ensuring planned protocols were being abided by, and the identification any foreseeable delays in the timeline.

When a problem arouse I would consult with the engineer and contractors to mitigate the issue and/or managed any change orders if deviations to the plans were deemed necessary after installation.

Performed Daily inspections of each job site and consultations with the contractors regarding project estimates, scheduling, progress, and filing other documentation as needed.

Managed routine project inspections of sites to ensure work was done up to code, documenting any deficiencies found and relaying this information to the contractor with a 72-hour compliance policy to resolve such deficiencies.

Took samples of concrete and construction materials and tested its compression strength and grade classification for quality control.

Submitted daily work reports and paid out the contractors for their work done for the week and/or made installments per completion of milestones. Kept records of SW3P's on each site to ensure storm water runoff did not contaminate the environment.

Performed complex computations to determine payments and the estimation of project completeness. Recorded all events during the day in an online report database and consulted with my superior as well as all project member entities regarding on site progress, upcoming plan execution, and possible setbacks.

The largest projects which I was explicitly lead in Managing was a 20-mile traffic cable barrier system and rumble strip construction, which divided the main lanes of highway 281 south outside loop 410. While managing the cable barrier system I oversaw the installation of overhead street lamp posts on a 30-mile stretch of 1604 from Helotes to Universal City.

Along with being lead in specifically explicit projects I was part of a collaborative project, the 281 Wurzbach pkwy expansion, and managed various aspects of the overall project. Such individual projects I managed on this job were the construction and installation of multiple overhead sign brides along on 281 between bitters and Wurzbach pkwy.

On this Wurzbach Pky project I also managed Daily Evaluating of working conditions to ensure compliance with safety, laws and regulations, contract specifications, and departmental procedures. Also made judgments for replacement, rehabilitation, or structural maintenance for this contract.

Along with this routine communication amongst the subcontractors of this expansion project I was in charge of the payments for the Wurzbach pkwy overpass construction phase. Payments were calculated on weekly percentage of completion and or each subsidiary completion of a projects phase, including partial payments for larger phases to maintain project overhead.
