About Restore and The Recovery College

Restore is a respected and established mental health charity, set in the heart of a vibrant and diverse county, providing a range of recovery, coaching and training services for adults recovering from mental health issues. Restore is part of the Oxfordshire Mental Health Partnership, a partnership that formally brings together six local mental health organisations: Oxford Health Foundation NHS Trust, Connections Floating Support, Elmore Community Services, Oxfordshire MIND, Response and Restore. The partnership is committed to better integrating services across the county in order to make it easier for people to get the best mental health support possible. The Oxfordshire Recovery College was established by these 6 partners, with Restore leading on its delivery, almost 3 years ago and has been growing and thriving ever since. The college provides recovery-focused courses for a student base of people with mental health problems; their friends, family and carers; and staff and volunteers working in the mental health sector. Covering all of Oxfordshire, we take an educational approach to recovery, and believe that where people are provided with tools, knowledge and skills, that they can live a full and meaningful life. All of our courses are co-produced and co-delivered, drawing on both professional expertise and lived experience in equal measure.

About the role

Restore is working in partnership with Oxford Health, Response, Oxfordshire Mind, Connections Floating Support and Elmore Team to establish and deliver a Recovery College for people using the service, carers, staff and volunteers from these organisations. The Recovery College Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the key processes that enable the College to run efficiently. They’re the lead person for student recruitment and support, and play a pivotal role in pulling together various workstreams to ensure the smooth running of the College.

More specifically, the job entails:

To support the Head of Recovery College in the development and running of the Recovery College To hold responsibility for student recruitment, support and wellbeing, and coordination of initial

assessment and Individual Learning Plans To lead on college promotion, in particular to hold responsibility for the design, production and

distribution of course prospectuses and other promotional materials To coordinate college communications, including maintaining the website and the college’s social media

presence, assisted by the Administrator To communicate and consult with students, potential students and other stakeholders on the

development of the service To support the collation of feedback and evaluation processes implementing changes where necessary

ensuring decisions are made in a co-productive manner To plan a timetable for all college courses To implement and maintain effective systems for the storage and management of data and use for

evaluation and monitoring purposes of a monthly basis With the support of the Administrator, to ensure procedures are in place to ensure an inclusive and

efficient enrolment process for new students To oversee initial 1:1 assessment meetings with new students to discuss goals, barriers and Individual

Learning Plans, and to coordinate the Student Welfare Tutors to support in this area To ensure the efficient day-to-day administration of the College, including maintaining Individual

Learning Plans, collation of feedback and evaluation systems, and the use of the MRN database To identify resources for the running of the college including appropriate course venues county-wide To assist in maintaining the Recovery College Hub, and supervise the booking of venues and

preparation of teaching resources for the delivery of courses in other settings, alongside the Administrator

To prepare and engage in the organisation and running of Recovery College events

Person Specification

An understanding of the sector, a commitment to recovery practices and empathy with people with mental health problems is vital. Restore needs people who have the ability to cope with limited resources, seize opportunities and think creatively. Awareness of the stigma and other issues surrounding mental illness is important, as is the ability to remain impartial, as this role may involve working in potentially sensitive areas.

Essential Requirements

Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to deal with students in a friendly and supportive manner both face to face and over the telephone

Excellent time management skills with an ability to manage a range of objectives and priorities An understanding of the principles of recovery from mental illness and the barriers that people with

mental health problems may face when attempting to or accessing education Excellent listening skills and communication skills (both written and verbal) with clear evidence of

ability Proficiency in use of IT, including Microsoft Word and Excel Experience of using databases Ability to work with students in a recovery focused manner enabling them to identify their desired

goals Ability to represent the College and the Partnership at external events Self-confident and ability to work on own initiative, but with the ability to seek assistance and support

when necessary Awareness of and commitment to all aspects of anti-discriminatory practice Willingness to undertake professional qualifications if required

Desirable Requirements

Experience of delivering training in educational settings

Experience in marketing or promotion

Experience or understanding of mental health issues
