Are You ABuilder Or Wrecker

I watched them tear a building down, a gang of men in a busy town, with the swing of a wreckingball, the sidewall fell. I asked the supervisor, “Are these men skilled, the kind you hire if youwould build? He laughed and said, “No, not at all! Just common laborers are all I need! They caneasily wreck in a day or two that would takes builders years to build. So I said to myself, as I wentaway, “What part in life am I playing? Am I a builder, doing the best I can? Or am I a wreckerwho walks through life content with the labor of tearing down?”

The world we live in today is always tearing things down and not many are trying to build thingsup. I believe as we go through life the Lord wants those of us in the body of Christ to be builders. We should be building lives and not wrecking them. This world is in trouble from the WhiteHouse all the way down to our cities. We see that lives are being wrecked everyday and althoughwe know that bad news travels fast, the media seems to focus on the negative and not the positive.

There are those whose life have been wrecked and appears they will never be able to recover orbuild their life up again. I believe God has anointed many of us in this day to help build the lives

and influence the people around us in a positive way. The next time youget ready to say, the wrong thing about somebody asks yourself this

question. Will my words help build this person’s life or wreck theirlife? If the answer is NO, then ask God to give you the right wordsto say, the bible teaches us in (Isa 50:4 KJV) “The Lord GOD hathgiven me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how tospeak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morningby morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.” Thisshould be our desire to speak a word in season.

My prayer is Lord help me to be a Builder and not a Wrecker.

Women’s Day 2011

Our 2011 Women’s Day Celebration theme: "Women Walking Worthy"

This great event held on April 11th, was a fabulous occasion the entire day!

It was a pleasing combination of qualities, to observe these women of God, in white attire. It was a wonderful sitelooking over the congregation at the smiling faces. They were not only delightful on the outside but also there was aglow coming from the inside. Exemplifying that, Walking Worthy is a way of life and a way of living for us! Yes, we

must present our bodies a living sacrifice, HOLY andACCEPTABLE unto GOD. Showing the attributes in which thescripture speaks of “Living uprightly in the approval of the Lord, giving fruit in every good work, and developing in the knowledge, the discernment and insight of God,” was evident!

This day will not be forgotten quickly, it was wonderful to see“Ministry in Motion” dancing effusively worshiping God to thesong “Enter In” by The Anointed Pace Sisters.

We were extremely grateful to have Evangelist Shun Pace be a partof our women’s day celebration. We all know that God used her in

a mighty way. She surprised the house and sang a selection from her newly released project “Reborn” entitled: GottaKeep Going On, You Can’t Stop!

Dr. Mary K. Baxter of Ocoee, Florida was the guest speaker for this celebration! Dr. Baxter shared her testimony withus where Jesus Christ Himself took her for thirty nights, three hourseach night into the different parts of hell. She shared how hell islocated in the center of the earth and that it is a body lying on its back.Jesus took her into the legs, arms, belly, jaws and heart of hell. Oh,the horrors, no one in their right mine would want to go there.

Men, women, girls and boys came to the altar; some rededicating theirlives back to God and some gave their souls to God on that day, whata celebration!

Overall 2011 Women’s Day was HEAVENLY!5

On Wednesday, April 27, 2001, the southeast wasfaced with 11 deadly storms that swept throughand destroy many lives in several Georgianeighborhoods. The death toll from those stormsalone reached 329 with 15 in Georgia, one inKentucky, two in Louisiana, five in Virginia, 34 inTennessee and Mississippi with the majorityoccurring in Alabama at 238. There werethousands injured, countless homes, businesses, hospitals and churches were destroyed. Yet in themidst of all the devastation, God’s mercy stillshowed bright with numerous stories of how Hespared and saved many lives.

Mother Bettie Ann Pace, Pastor and Co-Founderof Rehoboth Church of God in Christ in Barnesville,Georgia have such an amazing testimony.Mother Pace, her daughter, Phyllis and churchmember LaShawn decided to visit the church thatnight to handle some business matters becausethey believed the storm would dissipate by thetime it reached Georgia. However, while in heroffice Mother Pace heard a different kind of noise.Immediately, the Lord spoke to her and told her toget up from the sofa, grab a pillow and crawl

under the desk. Once under the desk, his furtherinstructions to her were to throw the pillow over herhead and pull the chair under the desk opening.Mother Pace did not hesitate to be obedient tothe voice of the Lord, and that’s when she hearda loud clashing noise and realized a tornado hadtouched down in Barnesville. When the tornadopassed through, all she could say was LORD THANKYOU for sparing my life. As she laid there she heardwater dripping and decided to see if she couldfind a bucket to catch the water so it would notdamage the church. Unbeknownst to her shewould look up and see the sky instead.

Later Mother Pace, her daughter, Phyllis andchurch member, LaShawn made it out of thebuilding and immediately reflected on whattranspired inside the church and how theymiraculous survived the deadly tornado. Thetornado had collapsed the ceiling in thesanctuary which would have allowed the womengo out the main door. Also, a wall supporting adifferent section of the church had crumbledmaking it almost impossible to escape. However,

when God closes a door, He always opens awindow … and maybe more.

Not only did that wall and décor come downallowing them to escape, but He caused thedebris to fall in such a manner that it formed stepsthat led the women to the outside. Miracle!Miracle! Miracle! However, God wasn’t finish yet! There was a main wall and ceiling that was stillstanding and in place as the women wasescaping from the damaged building. Fromhuman eyes there was no reason for the structureto still be standing, but God! It wasn’t until earlyThursday morning, that God allowed the structureto finally come down once all were evacuatedand safe.

As the three women, and other family and friends, were surveying the damage, they discovered yetanother miracle. The sofa that Mother Pace wason before the tornado struck and the Lord told herto get up from had been destroyed, but the desk, where Mother Pace was did not even get wet. There were some important financial papers on

that desk that Mother Pace had to turn into thebank later that day but God spared thosedocuments and allowed them to come outwithout being touched by the storm. Miracle! Many friends and family of Mother Pace is nowasking “What will you do now that the church isdestroyed”. Mother Pace’s faith-filled response is“God doesn’t allow you to lose anything withoutgiving you something better.”

As I watch the video on YouTube, and view theendless photos of the devastation, you canunderstand why some may be tempted toquestion “Why God?” My answer to them isbecause He can. God is sovereign and in Hissovereignty He knows all. Therefore, no matterhow tragic our situation may appear God has ourbest interest in heart. It becomes our job to trust inHis will, and believe that all things work togetherfor them that believe. Although, some may havelost things in the storm; homes, businesses, churches even loved ones, know that God lovesyou and be ever so grateful that He spared yourlife.

Thank God that your life was spared. Thank Godthat your home was spared. Thank God that yourbusiness was spared. No matter what give Godthanks for your blessings. I believe the way MotherPace ended her interview is a great insight intohow God would want us to handle this tragedy. “Ithank God. I saw miracles in the midst of thedisaster!”

On July 22, 1956, Sunday evening around 7:15pm, the lateSuperintendent Murphy Pace, Jr. and Mother Bettie Ann Pace received abundle of joy weighing 6 lbs and 7 ounce.

He was the first born of ten children, and the “ONLY” male child. At the age of three, he became a member of Hapeville Church of God inChrist, where Elder John Cooper was pastor.

During that time he birthed therenowned Powerhouse of Deliverance Church of God in Christ.Powerhouse was organized October 1980, at a storefront located at 1580Flat Shoals Avenue in Decatur, Georgia. Six months later the Lordblessed the church to relocate to 714 Fraser Street, Atlanta, Georgia.

In September of 1984, the Lord led Pastor Pace to Barnesville, Georgia. Once in Barnesville, he put up a tent in the heart ofthe city and many that were oppressed, depressed and possessed of the devil found deliverance.

On September of 1985, at the age of 29, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the late Bishop J.D. Pastor Pace was known for his outstanding leadership in the communities of Atlanta. In 1995, God spoke to Murphy Pace saying, "You are my Joshua. Go in my strength." He embraced this mandate soseriously that he legally changed his birth name (Murphy Pace III) to Murphy Joshua Pace (M. J. Pace).

He was a giant in the gospel music industry. The musical contributions of Bishop Pace were a testament to his artistry. Heleft the gift of songs in 3 bodies of recorded works that charted Billboard and continues to bless the church: "Didn't I TellYou" 1997; "Strongholds" 1993; "Looking for the Promise" 1992.

Paris is the capital city of France, situated on the River Seine, in northernFrance, at the heart of the Île-de-France region ("Région parisienne"). Thisbeautiful region is where Fanny, our lovely exchange student has inhabitedsince 1991. It was my wonderful pleasure to have interviewed, a lovely andsweet-spirited young lady in the body of Christ, whose future exceeds thegreatest possibilities that life may offer.

While Fanny was studying in Paris, the professorsof her college ask the students to go overseas toother countries, especially English speakingcountries to study at a partnered exchangeduniversity. The well participated studentexchange program became popular after WorldWar II, with the aim of helping to increase theparticipants' understanding and tolerance of other cultures, aswell as improving their language skills andbroadening their social horizons. Fannydecided this would be a great experienceand made the decision to participate in theprogram. It is through this amazingexperience that after arriving in Georgia, her

quest to find a place of worship began. When asked how she found Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ with all theavailabilities of churches and ministries here in Georgia, she replied, “This is along story!” While she was in France, she was told that there were a lot of churchesin Georgia and she would be fine! However, when she got here, she felt there were too many churches to make achoice. Upon her arrival, she visited several churches and found them to be very uncomfortable. Fanny was desperateto worship where God would have her to be, that she prayed and asked God to lead her to a church. She said I wantto be in a place where God wants me to be.” She stayed true to her God, and searched for two months until she founda place of worship.

Fanny was led to visit a big church downtown where she saw one of her professors. She told him she was looking fora church home that was Pentecostal. Her professor advised her to go to the internet and “Google” to find the type ofchurch that interest her. Determined and driven, Fanny made a list of churches she had found, with Holy Trinity beingthe third or fourth on her list. She went to website and began reading up on the churches on her list. Fanny moveddown her list to Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ and began her personal inspection of the information provided,in wisdom, yet with great desperation to be in a true place of worship. Fanny listened to several preached messagesof Pastor Martin, saw videos of the services, and read the autobiography of the Co-Pastor and felt it bore witness withher spirit. After careful review of the website, she made her decision.

The very next Sunday, Fanny caught the train on her journeyto find Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ; to what she feltwould be her new church home. To her discouragement, shegot lost for an hour just walking and searching everywhere, trying her very best to find the church. Fanny said to theLord, “I give up”, but if you really want me to go to HolyTrinity, please help me to find my way.” Shortly, after herprayer she found her way to the church. Fanny was late toservice, but not defeated, and made a vow to come back thefollowing Sunday!

Q&AQ: What was your first impression when arriving and seeingthe church building?A: I was lost and only wanted to find the church, so I didn’tlook at the building. I thought it was beautiful, bright andwas glad because I saw lots of young people. This was myfirst good impression.

Q: Do you remember the message when you first came to thechurch?A: I don’t remember the entire message but some ideas. Iremember he talked about relationships and the fact that wehave to be on good terms with people no matter what type ofrelationship it is; whether it is a love or friendshiprelationship. It talked to me a lot.

Q: How is religion where you were raised in France?A: We don’t have freedom of religion. The state is superiorfrom religion. We don’t have the right to talk about God andpray; we are not free at all. It’s a bit hard sometime toexpress ourselves and find good churches to attend.Sometimes we are stigmatized. It’s very hard.

Q: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to youhere?A: The funniest thing I remember and it’s not a bad thing, but once again it’s about the church. In France we don’thave this “Praise Break,” and when I first got here I said,”What are they doing?” It was astonishing and funny! It stillis!

Q: Do you understand it now or what is your understandingof all this exuberance?A: Yes, at first I did not understand why the people dancelike that. I had some questions but dared to ask. One time Iasked one young woman and she said it was a way to praise

God for what He’s doing and for what he will do. You cansing and also dance and now I know how to dance!

Q: I noticed you sang on one of the programs. How longhave you been singing?A: I have been singing since I was five years old in mychildren’s choir, the young people’s choir and I am on PraiseTeam.

Q: You mentioned Fanny that the Churches in France are abit subdued or reserved. How do you compare the preachingstyle to that of Pastor Martin?A: Pastor Martin is very much a man of God and when hepreaches, it’s like he is on fire! He wants you to understandwhat the word of God is for you today. I really like hispreaching because he is sincere and talks about other thingsthat other Pastor’s do not talk about, like sin. I really likethat!

Q: What do you sense is the call of God for your life?A: The call of God for my life is to be a light for the peopleof my generation and especially I think, through praise andworship. I also want to help young people; and youngwomen when they deal with some areas of their life likelove, relationships, and school. I really think that God isguiding me this way.

In closing, I asked Fanny what she thought her life would belike upon returning home and how would she implementsome of the things she has learned here? Her profoundanswers read as follows:I hope that my life will be better. I really hope so! I’m readyto go now and I think that I will be stronger than I wasbefore; stronger to face some events that may arise. When Igo back to France I will share my testimony with everybodyto tell them that I really had a good church in the UnitedStates and that I really had a good Pastor too; and that nomatter what you are and how you see people, that when youhave that kind of man of God in your life, it is amazing andit changes your life because he has the right word for yourtime! This is very important in these times.I will tell other people I had a great church even if I was theonly, little French one; that I met a great bunch of people, good people, and nice. Most of all I will say, that whereveryou are in the world, when you are a Christian, you have afamily!

Congratulations2011 Graduates

I truly did not understand what my mother was talking about when she told me she was searching for a newchurch home. At the time, I was four years old when we came to Holy Trinity. Upon our arrival, I becameextremely nervous and realized I was about to embark on an adventure that was unfamiliar territory to me.

When we entered the church, I noticed it was small, and had a feeling everybody knew each other’s nameand I also sensed the love in Holy Trinity. Over the next few months we continued to visit until my motherdecided we would become members. I have some wonderful memories over the last fourteen years. One ofmy most memorable experiences that I will never forget is when I turned six years old on ResurrectionSunday. I remember just before Pastor did the benediction, the entire church sang Happy Birthday to me.

Although, I was a little girl I realized at that time church was not just a place where people worship, it is a placewhere people fellowship, genuinely care for one another, and help each other in their time of need.

Throughout the years, the life lessons I have learned from the church have given me the courage to say I can do all things through Christthat strengthens me (Philippians 4.13). I have learned that with God all things are possible, and I can do all that I can to be successfulin life. Throughout my journey at Holy Trinity Church God in Christ, I have encountered a plethora of experiences that I can take with menow and in the future.

With sincere humbleness, gratitude, and dedication I am a graduate of the dynamic class of 2011 of Benjamin E. Mays High School. Igraduated with numerous academic honors: Top Ten Percent of my class, member of the National Beta Club, National Honor Society,Science National Honor Society, and a student of the prestigious Science and Mathematics Academy. As I attend college at TuskegeeUniversity to further my education, I will take all the memories and teachings I had at Holy Trinity Church of God In Christ.

Hello my name is Kira Isaacs; I am 18 yrs. old and a recent graduate of Tri-Cities High School in East Point,Georgia.  When I was four yrs. old my mother and I moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Once there, I started attendingHoly Trinity Church of God in Christ at the young age of 5 and officially joined when I was 6 or 7. I have beenan active and faithful member serving on the usher board, praise ministry and the youth department.

Although, I am a young adult, I must say joining Holy Trinity was one of the best choices in my life. I have agreat Pastor and Co-pastor, who has consistently fed me the Word of God.  When I was 16 yrs. old, I wasdiagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and at that time, thought God was punishing me for my wrongs. However, because of the word that I was being taught and the great leaders, I realized I was not beingpunished but that sometimes things happen in life that we must learn to deal with them. I have been able todeal with this disease and overcome it with the help of my mother, my leaders, church family and my own

personal relationship with God.

As I attend college, I plan to major in Stage Management and Production Design. My career goal is to complete college with a B.S.Degree in Science and to stage manage shows on Broadway, and eventually produce my own shows.

Page 13: Restoration Revival Magazine Vol 2 Issue 2

Before moving to Atlanta I pretty much lived MY typical fairytale lifestyle. I was a military child travelingaround the world for several years enjoying the luxuries of what my parents had to offer. During that time, Iwas definitely taught the necessary tools and essence of hard work, trustworthiness, and independence butI never had to fully exercise those particular responsibilities until moving out on my own. Yes, it wasenormous and a sure leap of faith, but one of the best life lessons I have had by far.

I moved to Atlanta, Georgia approximately five years ago with huge aspirations and goals, some of which Ihave attained and many that are still in progress. My journey throughout life so far has taught me, “Life iswhat you make it.” By saying that, I have learned the importance of prioritizing, dedication, and growth(mentally, emotionally, and spiritually).

I started attending Holy Trinity approximately four years ago, after visiting a few churches only to find myself dissatisfied with myexperiences. I recall speaking to one of my co-workers at the time, and telling her about growing up COGIC and not being able to finda church home. She immediately said, “Girl, you’re COGIC, I have the best church in the world for you to attend and in my mind I amthinking “everybody says their church is the best church.” So, September of 2007, I found myself at Holy Trinity feeling like I was at homeagain. Everything about Holy Trinity had the feeling of a COGIC church from the people, preaching, and strong presence of God. I wasso moved by my experience that is was almost unreal. After visiting several times and feeling the reception and acceptance from themembers towards my daughters and me, I knew in my heart Holy Trinity would be my new found home. Yes, Holy Trinity is definitely thebest church.

I attended college in Columbia, South Carolina and received a degree in Early Childhood Education. After receiving my degree I decidedto return to college and obtain a degree in Communications and Technology. I am excited to say that on June 26, 2011, I will earn mydegree and completely satisfied about the outcome and possibilities this degree will generate.

13

It is my sincere privilege and honor to congratulate you on your graduation. This is a tremendous accomplishment that initiates the startof a journey into a broad new dimension. As you embark on this journey, my prayer is that you remain focused. Keep your eyes on theprize and let nothing, or no one lead you astray. Prepare yourself for a brave new world.

I pray that as you start off this next phase of your life, God will allow you to seek and find wisdom. For those of you choosing college asthe next step, this is especially important to you. I know from personal experience that it is extremely easy to get sidetracked by differentthings. College students – and really new, impressionable high school graduates in general, are constantly being offered chances at newmoney, new love, new sex, new experiences that they are not accustomed to. Everything under the sun is placed at your feet, and if youare not careful you will become entangled and begin to desire things that are not of necessity. However, I am reminded of the words ofKing Solomon in Proverbs 3:13 - "Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding." King Solomonunderstood this, and thus chose the gift of wisdom over that of riches and power. Because of his choice, God blessed him with wealthnot seen by any other men throughout history and long-standing peace along with respect from neighboring countries. My brothers andsisters, let us not forget what the overall mission of collegiate studies – and essentially life – is: to achieve higher learning. Yes, the extraboost in pay that comes with a degree is nice. Yes, finding love on your college campus is wonderful. But before any of that, know whoyou are first and foremost: a student. It is your job - your duty - to constantly learn. Be a student in every endeavor, every situation andcircumstance. There should never be a time where you are not learning. Otherwise, the time spent in your new dimension, your newphase in life, will be a waste of time. Seek knowledge. Seek wisdom. Seek understanding. And find success.

Again, I pray that you all are successful in your endeavors. Let this journey and the rewards to follow be prosperous for you. I pray foryour strength to face the trials and obstacles that are to come. However in the same breath, I thank God for the victory and the blessingsthat are SURE to come. Remain true to your God and true to yourself. Strive for nothing short than greatness. Conquer your brave newworld. Minister Brandon McKinney

The summer is quickly approaching! That means there is enough sunshine to get outside and do someexercises to get in shape. I want to share, especially for the ladies, a lower body routine that will toneall the trouble areas. We’ll start with three basic exercises. Take 30-45 second between each exercisebefore moving on to the next exercise.

1. Squats – Stand with feet shoulder width apart and lower yourself slowly as if you’re aboutto sit in a chair. Make sure your knees do not go pass your toes.  Keep your stomach in and keepyour back straight.  When your legs are parallel to the floor, push up slowly with most of yourbody weight on your heels. For more of a challenge, you can add weight. Beginners should aimto complete 2 sets of 10-12; intermediates should aim to complete 2 sets of 15-20; and for theadvanced person they should aim to complete 3 sets of 15-20.

2. Standing Side Knee Raises – starting on the right side: lean over to the right and putabout 90% of your weight on your right leg, place the toe of your left leg on the ground, raiseyour left arm straight over your head. In one motion bring your knee and arm together squeezeyour right side and return to the starting position. Do 2 sets of 15-20 on each side.

3. Standing Chair Pose - Stand with your feet about shoulder width apart (but no wider). Bend your knees, lowering your body as if you were about to sit in a chair. Try to get your thighsas close to parallel to the ground as you can while standing.  Lean your torso forward at an angle, bending at the waist and keeping your hips above your heels.  Raise your arms in a stretchstraight out above your head, holding your arms in a direct line with your spine.  Hold your armsparallel with palms facing inward, or touch the palms together while you breathe deeply and holdthis position.  Hold the position for 30 seconds to one minute, maintaining regular breathing. Return from the pose by straightening out the legs and inhaling, momentarily reaching upwardthrough the arms. Spread the arms in a stretch all the way back down to your sides. Do threesets.

These three exercises are just a few that will aid you in getting in shape for the summer. Do theseconsistently, 2x a week for 8 weeks (along with a healthy diet) and you will see results.

Men still cry,WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?The Bible provides a clear answer. Here are the six scriptural steps which all mustTravel to pass from death unto Life.

15
