Principal’s Report

By all reports, our students that a ended the swimming carnivals last

week represented the school well and there were many great results.

Well done to all of you and good luck to the swimmers who are going

on to the next carnivals at Leeton and Albury.

The school is currently reviewing the access/use of mobile phones by

students. The new NSW Department of Educa on Policy states that

all primary students can only use digital devices at school if it is for

educa onal purposes. In the secondary school, it is up to us as a school community, to

decide what strategies we will implement for the use of devices, especially mobile phones.

So as part of the development of the Student Use of Digital Devices and Online Services

Policy, parents can assist us by comple ng a parent survey, to ensure that we develop a policy

framework which best suits the needs and concerns of our school community.

Last week I was lucky enough to spend some me in the classrooms and playground catching

up with students. In the playground some boys in Year 3/4/5/6 are trying very hard to s ck to

the rules when playing touch football and AFL. There are a lot of chasing games taking place

and the play equipment is being well used. We are also happy that our shade sails are

repaired. In the classrooms, the Year 7/8 students designed and made some amazing

terrariums, Year 3 were working hard wri ng sentences and wri ng three and four digit

numbers in number and word form, the Year 4 class has been researching and wri ng

detailed reports about sports people and I also saw a few amazing rollercoaster models that

were made in STEM on Friday.

The SRC had a produc ve day today, comple ng some training on leadership and also taking

part in decision making and team work ac vi es that they will be able to u lise in their roles

as SRC members this year.

Wishing you all a great week.

Stage 4 and 5 PDHPE

This term both Stage 4 and 5 PDHPE have been refining their skills in Touch Football and Oz

‐Tag. The students have learnt and prac sed some defensive and offensive moves and

applied them in a game se ng. We have learnt a lot about offside and how we can use

that to our advantage. This has meant all students have made considerable improvements

in their tac cal and strategic awareness when playing. I am very proud of the way all

students have approached this and given it their all. I am even more impressed with the

teamwork and sportsmanship the students have displayed!

Our hard work hasn't stopped there! In the classroom, Stage 4 have been learning about

changes and challenges we may face during adolescence. This has been an interes ng

topic and made us all aware of how important it is to be kind to one another, as we may

never know what someone else is dealing with in their personal lives. Stage 5 have started

exploring a different topic—in fact a topic all about difference and diversity. We will be

delving into the features that make us all unique and how we as a school and community,

can celebrate and encourage one another to be the truest and best versions of ourselves!

It is close to assessment me for both classes—already! However, the nature of the tasks

this term will mean a majority of them will be completed at school. Parents and caregivers

be aware….. your student may have some interview ques ons for you that will help them

in comple ng their assignments.
