I would like to warmly welcome all of our new families to the Drummond Memorial Public School Community. It is so wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces at Drummond. T his term we welcome three teachers who were on leave last year and have returned to Drummond: Mrs Jo Anderson as our RFF/Library teacher who will be here three days per week, Mrs Peta Deiderick who returns as the Instructional Leader and Mrs Karen Thorne who returns to the Early Intervention class. It is wonderful to see these teachers return. K indergarten had a lovely day last Friday and I am sure they were all a little tired; the day was very hot, full of fun and learning so many new things now they are at big school. If you have any questions please see your class teacher or come and see me. T he new uniform looks lovely and hopefully the red shirts will be back this week and we can get them out to you. We have been really pushing the company and they are trying to get them to us as early as possible. T his Wednesday 5 February there will be a Meet and Greet the teachers / info night. The P and C will be providing a free BBQ for all children and families from 5pm and at 5.30 we will move to the library where I can briefly explain a few of our exciting programs. The staff and I can answer any questions you may have and then your child can show you their new room. O n Wednesday 12 February, we will be holding the Swimming Carnival at the Uralla Pool. The students will receive a permission note this week. Please carefully read and answer if your child can or cannot swim. There will be novelty events for the non-swimmers. T he first rewards day will be in week 5 on Wednesday 26 February where any student with their Bronze badge will be invited to attend the pool. We have announced this to the students today so they are now all working towards their Bronze badges. Please ask your child what they will be doing to get the stamps and stickers required for their Bronze. Our rewards system will be explained at the Meet and Greet night, for our new parents, so please come along. T he Breakfast club will be open this week on Wednesday and Thursday from 8.30 am. The teachers have volunteered to support this program, along with Young Life, so it may be open more often. The Food Bank in Sydney is kindly donating free food to this program and our local Bakers Delight is donating bread every week as well. O ur next Gathering will be in Week 3 on Friday 14 February. Mr D’Gluyas and 5/6 Galahs will present a short item. T he black fence needs to be kept locked all the time now due to the new enrolments in the Special Education class and Early Intervention, all parents will need to report to the school office first. O ur lunch is at 11am so please ensure your child has their lunch by then. Most classes are having a Fruit break in the morning session so please ensure your child has a piece of fruit or vegetable to have in the morning session.
