In the UK police officers wear a white shirt, black trousers and a tie. In winter they also wear a jumper, andsometimes they wear a protective vest on top of that. This is the same for men and women. They also wearboots and a hat. The hats and the ties are different for men and women. Men wear a peaked cap andwomen wear a round hat. Men wear a long, straight black tie and women wear a wide, black and whitechecked tie. Police officers who are on foot patrol wear the traditional police helmet. In cold weather andon motorbikes, they also wear a yellow reflective waterproof jacket. Police uniforms also have a namebadge that gives the name and rank of the wearer.

Cleopatra was a very famous queen of Egypt. In 51 BC she became

queen at the age of 18 when her father died. She ruled the nation for

21 years. The Egyptian people admired and loved her. She was very

clever. She was the first leader of Egypt that could speak the same

language as the local Egyptian people. She could speak eight other

languages and was very good at Maths. Cleopatra took care of her

people. When there was a drought she made sure that the Egyptian

people had food and water.

The story of Antony and Cleopatra is very famous. Antony was a

Roman emperor who fell in love with Cleopatra. They had twins

together. But people in Rome became angry when Antony moved to

Egypt to live with Cleopatra and stopped taking care of the Roman

Empire. Antony’s brother, Octavian, decided to fight against Egypt.

He won the battle and Antony and Cleopatra died. The Roman

Empire ruled Egypt for many years. All over the world, people

remember Cleopatra as a strong leader who loved her country very

much. She tried to stay on good terms with the Roman Empire so that

Egypt could be a free nation.
