    1. General

The digital copier, LEOPARD, allows to select resolution (600dpi/1200dpi) in the following modes:

    Copy

By selection of the copy mode, resolution is selected between 600dpi/1200dpi.

AEText/Photo 600dpi (Image process: Error diffusion)

Super Photo 1200dpi (Image process: Dither)

    Printer

Selection between 600dpi/1200dpi is made with the printer driver.

To select resolution (600dpi/1200dpi), the following items must be controlled.

    1. High voltage output selection (The surface voltage must be changed by the process speed.)

The rid bias voltage, the developing bias voltage, and the transfer current are selected with 600dpi and

    1200dpi.

    2. LSU laser output selection

The intensity of laser beams is selected with 600dpi (High) and 1200dpi (Low).

    3. Main motor speed selection (Paper feed speed)

By changing the motor speed, the process speed (paper feed speed) is changed in 600dpi (122mm/sec)

    and 1200dpi (61mm/sec)

    4. Fusing temperature control temperature selection

The fusing temperature control temperature is selected with 600dpi (High) and 1200dpi (Low).

    5. Toner sensor output

The toner sensor sensitivity differs in 600dpi and in 1200dpi.

To keep the T/D value at a constant level, the adjustment reference value is selected.

Each selection control signal is defined.

    2. Selection control signal

    2-1 High voltage output selection

To control the high voltage, the following signals are used.

    Signal name Purpose Port assignment

MCON Main charger output control I/O ASIC (Process controller)

    P3OUT0(pin)

GlidL Grid bias High/Low control I/O ASIC (Process controller)

    P3OUT2(pin)

BiasON Developing bias output control I/O ASIC (Process controller)

    P3OUT3(pin)

HVSEL1 High voltage output (Grid bias)

    P0OUT10(pin)

HVSEL3 High voltage output (Grid bias)

    selection signal 3

    CPU (General-use I/O)

    P0OUT11 (pin)

    BPWM Developing bias output voltage

    adjustment (selection) PWM output

    CPU (TPU2 PWM output)

    TIOCA2 (116pin)

TCON Transfer output control I/O ASIC (General-use I/O)

    P0OUT12 (14pin)

TCLON Transfer cleaning output control I/O ASIC (General-use I/O)

    P2OUT5 (13pin)

    TCDA Transfer output adjustment (selection)

    analog output

    CPU (D/A output) DA1(112pin)

The high voltage (Glid, Bias, TC ) is selected with 600dpi and 1200dpi.

Selection is made under the state of high voltage output OFF (MC, /GLIDL, TCON, TCLON = L /BIAS =

H ) after completion of the process.

    2-2 LSU laser output selection

The laser power is selected with 600dpi and 1200dpi.

Selection is made under the state of laser output OFF (APCSTT L).

    2-3 Main motor speed selection

The main motor speed (122mm/sec, 612mm/sec) is selected with 600dpi and 1200dpi.

Selection is inhibited during rotation of the main motor, and performed under the state of main motor OFF

(MMD = L) after completion of the process.

2-4 Fusing temperature control temperature selection

The fusing temperature control temperature is selected with 600dpi and 1200dpi.

2-5 Toner sensor adjustment reference value

The toner sensor adjustment reference value is selected with 600dpi and 1200dpi.

The reference value set with 1200dpi is obtained by subtracting a certain value from the reference value set

    with 600dpi.

(The default value to be subtracted is 59, and can be changed with the simulation.)
