The word genre means ‘type’ or ‘sort’. In the film industry there are many different genres of films.

A genre containing thrilling scenes and material. A lot of suspense is built up throughout.

The audiences that go to watch thrillers expect it to be:

Sub-genres are the different types of film categories within a genre.

Alienated hero/uneasy. Flawed Characters, often known as an anti hero

intelligent, but psychologically challenged.

Mise-en-scene means everything in the frame.

An example of a technique often used in thrillers is Fast cutting, this refers to a technique where several different shots are placed very close to each other with a very fast duration, this is often used to scare the audience whilst

giving them a lot of information.

Diagetic: Diagetic: Sounds made naturally by objects in the

scene.Example – A dog barking, someone speaking, a

telephone.

Non-Diagetic: Non-Diagetic: Sounds added after filming

Example – someone narrating, robotic noises, voices, frightening sounds.
