Se7en

The order for this sequence begins with the companies involved. It then moves onto the main cast. Finally it ends with the director. This opening title sequence introduces the film after the main cast rather than at the end.

The font for the titles is distorted and in handwriting. This is unnerving for the audience and sets the tone. The placement is always in a corner with a dark background used to clearly present the titles. The animation is fuzzy, as if on a old projector, the animation is used in a sinister way to unnerve the audience.

These features are inspirational to our project as it is an effective template into how to how to set the tone of the film. This can be done using animations in a sinister way companied by the handwriting font. This can be utilised in our opening title sequence as it matches our genre and aims on how to effect the audience.

Skyfall

The order of this opening title sequence is similar to the majority of others. It introduces the main cast, then the film and ending with the director.

The placement of the titles are used in an effective way as they are in the primary field of view, thus causing the audience to focus on them. The font is appropriate with this as it is in bold capital letters. This makes it stand out to the audience.

This is inspirational to our group as it shows us exactly how to effectively use titles and put them in the primary field of view. It has also shown us how to achieve this without blocking the rest of the background images and how to make it look professional.

Dexter

This film does not comply with the previous two as it introduces the film first, followed by the cast and then the executive producer.

The font is once again bold, Calibri, capital letters to make it stand out. This is accompanied by the dark red colour, which also symbolises blood, which is appropriate for the theme. The placement of the titles is in the corner away from the protagonists face so that it does not interfere with the images.

This is inspirational to our film as it shows how to use colour to not exclusively make it stand out but also to symbolise its theme. In our project we will also use the red colour to match blood as it is a zombie subgenre. This will set the tone for the audience and convey meaning appropriately.
