Location: East Side Gallery, Mühlenstraße, Berlin, Germany Established in 1990 Paint Artists: Bodo Sperling, Barbara Greul Aschanta, Jörg Kubitzki and David Monti. Photographer: Thierry Noir

In the early eighties, the berlin wall was covered in name tags and scribble slang words in certain pinpoint locations such as Potsdamerplatz, Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburger Tor, and in Kreuzberg. The wall took a turning point four years onwards when no one got interested, Thierry noir came along with Christophe Bouchet both literally covered the wall, more than 3 meters high, from top to bottom, with shiny colours, trying to paint as quick as possible. Inscribing on public walls in any form that took place anywhere was illegal at that time and eventually became to be a trend for other artist but their revolutionary act certainly came with a condition for Thierry to not cross abroad east side of Berlin nor can bouchet go to west Germany with that being said the berlin wall became a holy ground for paint artist to show off their work.

Title: Role in metro (2012) By r5haebdbadfbadfbasfd (You tube) Genre: Vandalism, Graffiti

At first glance of this short film that I came across it shows a youth who despise the government and follows what he believes by graffiti all over the train inside and out that eventually his voice would reach out as an act of anguish towards employment opportunities these days. I find this film compelling and fascinating to the actor does this out of extreme boredom and a sense of urgency. It gives me a slight idea towards my own written short film.

Title: While you were sleeping (2010) By Mtlmedia (You tube)

‘Power House Media Group Inc and Megalomaniac Pictures shows a disturbing film based on a tragic problem in Montreal. For decades, people have used the metro not just to transport them from place to place, but also from life to death.’ - Mtlmedia

I think this film conveys a powerful message to the viewers and made an impact to unwary strangers travelling underground. I like how the message is put to practice in the sequence to express to the audience how, it is dangerous and to always watch your step as it can mean life or death. I think it’s beautifully choreograph and location chosen carefully to match the subject and theme.

Very innovative which explores the human consequence and life threatening decisions in this film.

Images like this one on Brick Lane in East London, entitled “Going for Gold,” which shows an Olympic mascot receiving some unwanted attention from an overly amorous dog.

Based on my chosen photograph as shown below:

I decided to take a different approach to record the film as I see fit into a first person perspective and it fitted well with the theme, which is base on a guy who lives in an underground tunnel with no hope since he is a homeless person after all as I would describe the character. I wanted to create gibberish voices when people are walking by and he gets ignored by each and everyone he approaches to. If I had another chance I would have took a mono tripod instead of booking out a normal one in the mpc room at since I had difficulties adjusting the tripod to my shoulder and sip up my coat as Iearnt some useful clever tricks using just a tripod for a first person perspective. I found myself having to literally hold the tripod in one hand supporting it whilst moving along the sidewalk of the road, which resulted into only able to view the upper body at most because the camera couldn’t go further up so I bump into a lot of problems with the tripod by itself as it wasn’t the ideal type I needed for this short film. I thought of ending the sequence with the guy crouching down, looking both ways then he realise his hands slowly fades away before it zooms out to a medium angel shot of him against a specific wall and disappearing away like stardust. I would like to continue working on this and correcting my mistakes.

He has up to seven episodes explaining how to shoot steadily with a tripod and comparing it with freehand methods.
