3. Company Memo (406 words) To: Colleagues From: Carla Formosa, Air Malta’s PR Manager Date: 28th March, 2014 Subject: Fundraising event for Europa Donna Malta Dear Colleagues, On Monday the 17th of April, Air Malta shall be working together with the European Breast Cancer Coalition, otherwise known as Europa Donna Malta, to organize a fun day of charity fundraising on three of our flights. During the past month, ‘No make up selfies’ have been circulating social media sites worldwide to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer Research. Trough thousands of people participating around the United Kingdom, the British Cancer Research UK have successfully managed to raise over 2 million pounds within 48hours. Seeing as many Maltese have started to follow and support the trend, Mr Louis Giordimaina, our Designate Chief Executive Officer, and myself, have decided that Air Malta should also be part of such a good cause. Therefore the Air Malta board has agreed for three daytime flights on the 17th of April to be transformed into fun, and active fundraising events. The main idea for the day will be surrounding the idea of the “no makeup selfies”. Thus, we would like all of your support to break away from the stereotypical image of airline crew, by going bare faced for the whole days event. Flights KM 0103, KM 0106 and KM 0201 will be transformed into charity concert flights during the times when inflight meals will be served. Ira Losco, who has participated in the no makeup selfie has offered to perform on all three flights to help raise money and awareness for the cause. Our aim is to also get passengers involved too. Therefore we shall be supplying makeup removal face wipes to anyone wishing to participate and donate. Emma Tranter, has also volunteered to act as our photographer for the flights. All photos she takes, will then be available to order from her website, where proceeds will also be donated to Europa Donna Malta. This will be similar to our very successful Love Plane that toured passengers around Sicily and back to Malta. However, in this case they will be normal flights connecting to Rome and back. We hope that it will be an enjoyable event for all crew and passengers, and all for a good cause. You shall all be contacted with a follow up email in due course. However, if you have any questions until then, feel free to contact me. Kind regards, Carla Formosa Air Malta PR Manager

Air Malta plc Level 2, Skyparks Business Centre Malta International Airport Luqa, Malta. LQA 4000 Tel: +356 22999000 Date: 21/03/14

Dear colleagues, I would like to take this opportunity to formally apologise for the distress myself and my team have caused you regarding excess overtime and refused leave.

I would like you all to know that the industrial dispute that was lodged by The Union of Cabin Crew on the 18th of March 2014 to the Air Malta management, have now all been resolved, lifting all directives issued by the union to its members.

We understand, that in order to sustain a healthy company, we at Air Malta must work together and fully support each other’s needs. We would like to thank you for committing yourselves to your duties and understanding the need to be flexible with rosters. However, we would like to assure you that we fully comprehend the need for scheduled days off and pre-organised leave to insure safety on board flights will never be jeopardised.

Air Malta, together with the guidance of the U.C.C., shall be implementing a new leave and working hours policy, allowing cabin crew to be granted ad hoc leave if the necessary replacement crew is available. We hope to implement these new policies by the start of next month. Until then, we would like to apologise again to anyone that was affected with this issue. We shall aim to stick to our company policies which support the necessity of working in an environment that is enjoyable and productive. Kind regards,

Mr Louis Giordimaina CEO Air Malta
