Republic of the Philippines Department of Environment and Natural Resources PROVINCIAL ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES OFFICE Masbate City MEMORANDUM FOR : The Regional Executive Director DENR-V, Rawis, Legaspi City FROM : The OIC, PENRO Masbate City SUBJECT : 2012 WORLD WETLANDS DAY ACTIVITY ATTACHEMENT : Photo documentation, program, list of participants DATE : February 6, 2012 In line with these years World Wetlands Day Celebration, please be informed that PENRO and CENRO Mobo, Masbate conducted the Mangrove tree planting and Symposium at Batuhan River and Batuhan Elementary School, Masbate respectively. This year’s celebration carries the theme “Wetlands and Tourism, A great Experience”, towards a responsible tourism on wetland areas. To that end, the following are the activities completed of PENRO Masbate: 300 propagules of mangroves were planted along Batuhan River, Masbate City by the PENRO/Batuan E/S Teaching Force/ Barangay Officials and the pupils. Organized a brief symposium for the pupils and discussed Pawikan Conservation conducted by Ms. Juliet A. Tamayo and Philippine Wildlife in relation to wetlands tourism by Forester I Aldrin B. Barruga, II. Presented a movie presentation entitled “Tales of Disaster for Children” facilitated by the lecturers. “Panunumpa sa Inang Kalikasan” (Oath for Mother Earth) was recited by the participants during the symposium led by Scout Jennifer Ann Teodoro of Masbate National Comprehensive High School (MNCHS). The above-mentioned activities were successfully conducted on February 3, 2012 from 7:00 in the morning to 12:00 noon. The attendants in the World Wetlands Day celebration were 40 pupils, 7 teachers (including the principal of the school), 3 Barangay Officials, 5 Senior Scouts lead by NGP Coordinator Eduardo S. Laurio, Jr., and 18 DENR-PENRO personnel headed by undersigned. Furthermore, a short program was conducted before the symposium commenced and we had distributed certificate of recognition to all individuals that extended support to the celebration.
