Award given to the best reproductive or developmental toxicology paper published inToxicological Sciences in the past calendar year. Papers are judged based on originality, scientific quality, and contribution to the field. Winner receives achievement plaque (leadauthor) and certificates (co-authors)
Student/PostDoc PresentationThree awards given to students giving presentations or attending posters at the annual
SOT meeting (1st place $500, 2nd place $300, 3rd place $200). Reproductive and Developmental Toxicology Specialty Section (RDTSS)
Join RDTSS!Current members have a variety of backgrounds and work in all sectors of research, development, and risk assessment, including university, government, and industry settings.Research areas include whole animal, in vitro, and short-term assays, epidemiology, statistics, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. Application of research to risk assessment and riskpolicy issues is also of interest to many members.
Membership in RDTSS is $15 in addition to SOT membership; students may join one specialtysection for no additional cost.

The fetus represents a special population that can never give its consent. Drugsare usually approved based only on animal data, making it even more importantthat the most appropriate and sensitive techniques are used to assess potentialhazards of drugs and chemicals. Reproductive and developmental toxicologycontinues to be an active area for basic science research, as evidenced by recentdiscoveries regarding embryonic stem cells, epigenetics, and endocrine-mediatedtoxicity, among others.
RDTSS has strived to promote this special area of toxicology through continuingeducation courses, sponsoring symposia and workshops at the annual meeting. The RDTSS further supports interest in the field through recognition of best papersin Toxicological Sciences, awards for the best student posters and student travelawards, and a Lifetime Achievement award of members who have expanded ourknowledge base and promoted our specialty area.
We look forward to the 50th annual Society of Toxicology meeting to the future ofthe Society and the RDTSS!
