Reporting 101Q: Why are you here? A: Because you have or have been asked at least one question.

Reporting 101A question drives the need for every single reportIn order to create the right report, you have to ask questions about that question!A report is the answer to a question in the form of a data set or graph.

Next ask them how many times have they heard I want to se all opportunities. 3

Be the Coach! Train your users that no one ever really wants to see a report of all opportunities.What type of data do you want to see? Which fields do you want to see?Are there restrictions?How do you want to see this information?

Step 1: Start with What?

What type of data do you need to see?What type of data do I need to see? On which Object would you like to run your report

Ex1: Opportunity Report may answer whats in the pipeline?Ex2: An Opportunity AND Product Report may answer how much product will we need on hand in Q4

Step 2: On to Which?Which fields do you want to see?Which fields do you want to see? The left side panel of the new report window is where answer which? They are separated by object and field type

Step 3: Narrow it down with Are there?Are there restrictions?Filter criteria define the restrictions placed on returned data

Step 4: Finish the build with How? How do you want to see this information? Q: Do you just want a list?A: If yes, build a Tabular reportA: If no, build a Summary reportThese allow for Grouping, Charts and calculations
