Report on Visit to N.M.P.T (Guidance: Mr. Prassana Sir) We the students of SDM College, M’lore visited New Mangalore Port Trust (N.M.P.T) as an opportunity to learn the various strategies employed by a port in the field of Export Management on 22/08/2013. Export Management is basically the management of Export of Goods and Services within a domestic sphere and within countries as a matter of trade of goods and services. We met Mr. & Mr. .Who were kind enough to let us into such a secure location managed by the Government of India. N.M.P.T does operate in Deep water with depth of Sea ranging from 50metres to 75metres at its lowest point in the harbor; it’s an all weather port and is one of the few on the West Coast of India. It’s the only major port on West coast and ranks as the 9 TH largest in India. N.M.P.T lies 170 Nautical miles south of Marmagao Port (Goa) & 354 Nautical miles north of Kochi port. Major Exports Include: - Iron ore concentrates &Pellets, Manganese, Granite stones, Coffee, Cashew, Containerized Cargo. Major Imports Include:- Crude Petroleum products, LPG, Wood Pulp, Timber Logs, Finished fertilizers, Liquid Ammonia, Phosphoric Acid. Some of the objectives of Export Management were explained to as follows:- 1. Follow procedures for setting of tariff duty in Ports for export and Importing of Products. 2. Maintaining a set of rules & regulations for import and export of products throughout the world. They also explained the day to day running and procedures, tariffs, documentation, customs office working in great detail including cost

We the students of SDM College, M’lore visited New Mangalore Port Trust (N.M.P.T) as an opportunity to learn the various strategies employed by a port in the field of Export Management on 22/08/2013. We were very happy to understand the day to day running of an organization such as New Mangalore Port Trust.
