REPORT ON THE NBC-JCDC FAMILY VISIT TO LUGOGO CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

May 2012 saw the NBC/JCDC Family off to offer service to the children in the community of Lugogo

CDC. The day’s program looked like this: 

Time Activity

10:30 – 11:00am Arrival at the Centre

11:00 – 1:00pm Games with the children

1:00 – 2:00pm Lunch (provided by the centre)

2:00 – 2:30pm Movie (8years and below)

Sharing with Patrick and Brenda(9 years and above)

2:30 – 3:00pm Memory Verse

3:00pm Departure

Though we did not manage to run the program according to the exact time planned, we are grateful to

the Lord that we managed to carry the out all planned activities.

The after lunch heavy rain showers were the main reason the day’s activities were delayed pushingthem to end at about 4:00pm.

On arrival, the team was received by the Centre CDO health: Brian who then assigned Joan and Derrick

to take care of us.

After the children had taken their break tea, the games started. The games played included:

  Mingle-mingle: This was a general warm up game played by all

  Body to body: This was a general game played by all

  Follow the leader: This was a general game played by all

  Pass the balloon: This was a general game played by all

  Ball passing using the chin: This was a competitive game with the girls against the boys. The girls

came out as the victors.

  Balloon bursting competition: The children were divided into 4 groups for this game and group 3

came out as the winners.

  Bottle filling competition: The children were divided into 4 groups for this game and group 1came out as the winners

The after noon session saw the children divided into 2 groups according to age. Those aged 8 and below

were with Reagan, Anna and Allan. The children were shown an animated 25 minutes film of Daniel and

the children had this to say after the film:

“I have learnt that I should pray ”, “I have learnt not to worship idols”.

Then came the time for the memory verse; the children memorised a verse from Proverbs 3:5. They did

this buy filling in the missing letters guided by the sign language alphabet.

A sample of the sign language alphabet if below: See if you can figure it out.

The memory verse activity was also done by the 9 years and above children after their sharing session

with Patrick, Besweri, Loyce and Brenda. During this session, the children shared about their dreams and

the Family team encouraged them through their personal life experiences and later prayed with them

with a reminder that they should trust in the Lord for their future to be certain.

A BIG thank you to the Family members that managed to make it to the event and all those that were

praying with us; thank you very much!

Another BIG thank you to Lugogo CDC for allowing us play and also minister to their children; may God

bless you!

Brenda had this to day after the event: “I wonder where other people have their weekends from. This is

the best way one can spend his/her weekend”  

You do not want to miss the next one.
