REPORT ON DR. MARIA MONTESSORI DAY Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child open up himself to life, this innovative approach of Dr. Maria Montessori towards education left an indelible mark which gave us the world famous educational method that focused on the holistic development of a child. Maria Montessori was born on 31 st August 1870. To honor this dynamic and altruistic spirit of Dr. Maria Montessori, we here at NPS Kengeri celebrated her 146 th birthday on 31 st August 2016, Wednesday with our young explorers. The celebration started off with lighting of the lamp by our Chairperson Mr. Avinash H.E. and Principal Mrs. Geetha Dikshith. Later, followed by a small skit by Mont II students, that portrayed the immense work and dedication of Dr. Maria Montessori. The celebration was graced by mind boggling dance performance by our Mont I and Mont II children in their colourful attire wherein they showcased their groovy dance moves confidently and effortlessly. The programme was concluded with a song by Mont II students as a tribute to Dr. Maria Montessori and also a background humming by the Montessori Teachers with a promising note that they will try their best to keep up the same spirit and follow the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori.
