REPORT OF THE SANSKRIT WEEK CELEBRATED AT KV NO.1, JALAHALLI WEST,
BENGALURU-15 4TH– 10TH AUGUST 2017

Aims & Objectives: -
To encourage students to develop interest & liking towards Sanskrit.
To motivate students to have their speaking ability in Sanskrit.
To understand Indian culture & preserve the same for Future Generations.
Main Aspects:-
The assembly program was held in Sanskrit throughout the week. Several
competitions were held at the Vidyalaya level to short list the students for the
KVS Regional level competitions.
Students from Class VI to VIII (All Sections) were trained rigorously to recite
shlokas from the Bhagavadgeeta with correct stress & intonation .
Several competitions were conducted at the Vidyalaya level in order to select
students to participate at the KVS Regional level.

7th August 2017 Inauguration
The Sanskrit week began with the lightning of the ceremonial lamp by The principal Sri Govindu Maddipatla, accompanied by Smt Sudha.P, HM followed by garlanding of the portrait of goddess Saraswati.
The Inauguration of the Sanskrit week was done in a solemn manner & all the
programmes were exhibited in Sanskrit exclusively, such as Pledge, Thought for the
day, News, Ward for the day & special item. The highlight of the special Item was
about the great scholars of Ancient Sanskrit.

The day too was a follow up of the first day’s events. The special Item presented in
Sanskrit was about the importance & essence of Bhagavadgeetha where in students
were informed about the important aspects of the sacred book and how students
should imbibe & practice in the true sense of the religious spirit.

The valedictory function began with the welcome address by Sri S.P.Mandal,
TGT (Skt)..
The morning assembly began with a melodious song in Sanskrit- JayaJayahe Bhagwathi Surabharathi………………..

The students presented a skit in Sanskrit - “SWADESHI JAGARANAM”
highlighting the significance and awareness about Indian products.

Sri Manjunath Sharma addressed the assemblage with an inspiring and
elaborate speech on the importance of Sanskrit language. He highlighted that it is the
very base for human existence crossing all the barriers and difficulties both physical
and mental in order to lead a happy and peaceful life. Then he also stressed on the
vital point that it is the root of all the languages & that the other languages are just
the branches of the huge tree. This was followed the prize distribution ceremony.
The winners received their prizes & awards quite cheerfully from the principal Sri
Govindu Maddipatla.
The function concluded with the singing of the National Anthem in chorus.
