REPORT OF THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE

University Grants Commission Bangalore has been sanctioned the grant of Rs.

100,000/- (Rupees One Lakh) and now released the grant of Rs. 80,000/- (Rupees Eighty

Thousand only) to conduct the Two-Day National Conference on “Gandhian Philosophy

and Recent Trends in India”. The date of the Conference was fixed on 05th & 06th October

2015 venue at Sir. M. Visvesvaraya Auditorium.

The inaugural function of the Conference was held on 05th October 2015, Monday

with the invocation by the student Rajesh and team as well as welcome address was given by

Dr. Mouneshwara Srinivasrao, Organizing Secretary of the conference. He welcomed the

guests who were presented on the dais i.e. K.N. Rajanna M.L.A. of Madhugiri Constituency

& President, The Karnataka State Co-operative Apex Bank Ltd., Prof. Ravivarma Kumar

Advocate General for Karnataka, Prof. A.H. Rajasab Vice-chancellor of Tumkur University,

Prof. D. Shivalingaiah Registrar of Tumkur University, Dr. M. Jayaramu Principal University

College of Arts, Sri. B. Kariyanna Vice-Principal University College of Arts, Chairpersons,

Resource Persons Paper presenters and delegates who arrived to the conference media

persons, Syndicate, Academic Council members and dignitaries arrived from the Tumakuru

City.

K.N. Rajanna and all guests were together lighting the lamp and flowerily felicitated

to Photo of Mahatma Gandhi. And Proceedings of the UGC sponsored Two-day National

Conference was released by Prof. A.H. Rajasab Vice-chancellor of Tumkur University. It

included the ISSBN number.

K.N. Rajanna M.L.A. of Madhugiri Constituency & President, The Karnataka State

Co-operative Apex Bank Ltd., who inaugurated the conference spoke in his inaugural speech

that Gandhian philosophy is model to stop the civilian wars in the world. Gandhi did not

occupy the any higher constitutional positions but he is worldwide famous because he

followed the words what he preached. But till today we could not possible to fulfil and have

not totally implemented the Gandhian concepts of Gram Swaraj, Rama Rajya, to curb the

alcohol addiction, elimination of poverty, self-employment programmes. Today’s youth

should save the Gandhi’s freedom; otherwise we may lose the freedom added in his speech.

Advocate General Prof. Ravivarma Kumar expressed that national wealth has been

centralised in the few persons like Ambani, Ajim Premji, and Narayan Murhty because of

economic liberalisation. In our national mineral wealth has been looting with paying the tax

or state money. Transportation of the State mineral wealth to another state should be

stopped. If we used the mineral wealth of Tumakuru District sufficiently, we do not

necessary to pay the tax upto 10 years.

Today in rural area also, parents send their children to English medium schools. We

are insulting the Gandhiji continuously because he was a strong supporter of mother tongue

education. Capitalists are trying to convert the education system as privatisation. Some

people are giving miss-propaganda on reservation of Dalits and other backward classes in the

education which was fixed upto 10 years only. He clarified that there is no time bond in the

Article 15 (4) relates to education, article 14 (4) relates to employment field.

In the Karnataka state there is living legend of untouchability in twenty nine thousand

villages. Dalits are living aside the village. Untouchability did not curb completely even the

constitution was implemented from 65 years. Hence, the statements to stop the reservations

of dalits and other backward community are meaningless.

We have adopted improper education system, it is orphan to the country and we are

insulting the Gandhian ideologies. Professional education turned as business because

establishment of medical college is considered as a fundamental right. But the studying of

medical is not a fundamental right. So, the doctors of this country are going to serve in

abroad.

Today the personality of Gandhi is analyzing as the guardian of Hindu religion and

casteism. But Gandhiji did not attach with a particular religion. Gandhiji was made inter-

caste marriage in his Sevashrama. As per the reference of French Author Mark Lindley

quoted in his essay Gandhi made a promise not to go for self religious marriages in 1946. It

is unfortunate that parents are killing their children for marrying outside the case in the name

of honour killing. The government should implement stricter legislations to check such

practices and encourage inter-caste marriages,” he added. Stating that Mahatma Gandhi had

encouraged inter-caste marriages, he said every incidence of honour killing in his land seems

like an assassination of Gandhi himself.

There is fulfilled the dream of Gandhian Gram Swaraj only, power decentralization

was made through panchayat system with reservation of 50% women reservation and giving

the particular reservation of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe people. This is also

considered as first revolution of equality. He appreciate that the aspirations of Ambedkar and

Gandhi were fulfilled with the implementation of these things.

Prof. A.H. Rajasab addressed the gathering delegates that there is no possibility to see

the farmers’ suicide if successful implementation of Grama swaraj philosophy was

implemented by the Union and State Governments. There is no life in the villages, so

villagers are transmitting to the urban areas. Kannada schools are closing because of

attacking the English school. Privatisation and multinational culture is practicing grandly.

With this there is possible to remember the Gandhi because at the time of violation of

fundamental rights, non-violence, sad events would be arisen in the daily life.

Prof. D. Shivalingaiah was attended in the function as a Guest of Honour. Principal

Dr. M. Jayaramu was made presidential remarks of the function. In his presidential remarks

he congratulated the organizers such a kind of wonderful event. Presence of Sri B. Kariyanna

Vice-Principal was in the function. Dr. Joy Nerella Associate Professor of Economics was

given vote of thanks to all the dignitaries on the dais and off the dais. Anchoring was made

by Sri. Ravi C.M. Assistant Professor of English.

The valedictory function of the Conference was held on 06th October 2015, Tuesday

with the welcome address was given by Smt. Girija K.S. Assistant Professor of Political

Science.

Prof. G. Ramakrishna named Gandhian was given valedictory address to the delegates

of Conference. Before the independence, single company i.e. East India Company was

occupied the Country, but at present condition several companies are attracted by the

government with red carpet. If the situation continues, nation can be occupied by several

companies and future of India will be turned to monocratic administration he added.

Gandhian philosophy is near because of youth service, employment restructure, business and

commerce, education, women equality; freedom etc. in the world, but in the purview of

national government/ nation Gandhi is far from the implementation of his ideas. And Prof.

Ramakrishna explained about the Gandhian concept of Gram Swaraj, Ram raj, poverty

elimination programmes.

Prof. A. H. Rajasab Vice chancellor of Tumkur University participated as the guest of

honour and addressed the delegates as if the fulfilment of Gandhian dream nation is need to

possible by organising this kind of conference.

Dr. N.B. Naduvinamani Registrar Evaluation of Tumkur University participated as the

guest of honour and expressed his views that Gandhian philosophy is model to citizens of

present and future because he gave more importance to three words satya, ahimsa and

anargya.

Organizing Secretary of the Conference Dr. Mouneshwara Srinivasrao presented the

report of the conference with analysing the Gandhian views on Secularism, Satyagraha and

non-violence.

Presidential remarks have been given by Sri. B. Kariyanna Vice-Principal of College

with quoting an efficiency of Organising Secretary of the Conference. Presence of Principal

Dr. M. Jayaramu was on the dais. Anchoring was made by Lt. Mohan Prakash Assistant

Professor of English and student Miss. Chaithra gave a vote of thanks.

In the Two-Day National Conference, there was made an attractive arrangements for

the exhibition of Photo Gallery of Mahatma Gandhi as “Gandhiji in Karnataka”. And more

than two hundred delegates were participated in the conference.

In this way, UGC sponsored two-day national conference was organised and completed

with grand success. Hence Organisers are very thankful to the UGC for financial assistance

and administrative support of Tumkur University.
