Foliar feeds are not historically used as a primary nutrient source. They are used as a supplementary nutrient source. I have used only OBundance foliar feed to grow various herbs over the last eighteen months with great results. Three months ago, I added Vigo to the mix to increase the carbohydrate concentration. The results were truly phenomenal. The plants responded within an hour of application. 30 mm of growth per week has been achieved on faster growing herbs such as mints. The plants display excellent colour and are resilient to the extreme weather conditions experienced this summer so far. In other words, strong growth is achieved and not the usual soft growth associated with high nitrogen-based fertilizers. In fact, OBundance contains only 5.6% nitrogen.

We do not use chemically-based insecticides on our herbs. We used our own herbal insecticide mixture in an attempt to control thrips. We did manage to reduce the thrips population but a small thrips population still existed. Once I added Vigo to OBundance thrips disappeared after two applications. I attribute this to the increase in the brix count, rendering the plant sap unattractive to most insects. I have not applied herbal insecticide mixes ever since.

A number of golf courses in Gauteng use OBundance plus Vigo on their greens. Good results have been achieved so far, especially relating to colour and heat tolerance.

To better understand the advantages of OBundance plus Vigo in horticulture, I will explain the basis of the technology employed without indulging in highly complex scientific explanations.

OBundance is an organic foliar feed affording optimum nutrition. OBundance contains an excellent balance of macro and secondary nutrients as well as trace elements and growth hormones. Amino acid technology is employed and, once mixed with water and sprayed through a fine nozzle, the water droplet is reduced in size.

OBundance does not conform to the definition of ‘organic fertilizer’ as it is manmade. This technology does contain a patent describing it as ‘organic’. This technology conforms to biomimicry principles.

Biomimicry is the science of providing sustainable solutions to human challenges by emulating natural processes. In this case, it is copying the way plant nutrients are processed in nature.

OBundance is produced in the same way nature produces organic nutrient substances. Nutrient cations are chelated by carbon, and nutrient anions are encapsulated by carbon. The carbon used is a stable form. Some of the nutrient elements used are of a chemical origin and others are of an organic origin. 86% of OBundance originates from an organic source. This is a high organic percentage. Most organic fertilizers contain a percentage of manmade chemical components as a result of widespread global pollution and many also contain GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms).

About Vigo

Vigo is a completely organic growth enhancement agent. It contains many beneficial organic components but its greatest benefit is the increase in metabolic activity. This is combined with numerous organic acids which increase the hormonal activity within the plants. Vigo enhances plant growth irrespective of the type of fertilizer used. It has proved to be extremely effective when used in conjunction with organic foliar feeds.

When applying OBundance, chelated and encapsulated nutrients are absorbed through the stomata and plant tissue. These nutrients require energy for the necessary chemical processes to take place. This is the function of photosynthesis. With turfgrass, the photosynthesis area is reduced by mowing. Vigo indirectly increases carbohydrates, which produces more energy, which, in

turn, stimulates plant growth. This is the primary benefit of Vigo although it offers many secondary benefits such as increasing the sugar levels in the cell sap - what is commonly referred to as the brix count. Vigo also improves the stress tolerance of plants.

Vigo provides good results if applied on its own or in conjunction with other foliar or root feeds. When applied with OBundance results are optimized providing greater value than what either product provides independent of each other. I have never witnessed such perfect synergy relating to fertilization before. I have used many excellent fertilizers in my 45 year career in horticulture but this combination ticks the most boxes for me. I will continue applying OBundance plus Vigo for the foreseeable future. If better technology resulting in more effective products is introduced into the market, I would change as I am result driven. Until that occurs I will remain with OBundance plus Vigo as my main source of nutrition.

PS: I formulated OBundance to fulfill a specific need. I required a fertilizer that had all the advantages of organic products but also provided the faster growth associated with chemical fertilizers. I also required an environmentally friendly product. I spent two years formulating OBundance and was only satisfied once it met my requirements. I tested it against many products to ascertain its true value. I was eventually comfortable

that I had formulated a product that provided great value. Then I added Vigo and couldn’t believe the results I was experiencing from the combination.

Some might say that I promote OBundance because I formulated it but I had nothing to do with Vigo and I promote that as well. Try the combination for yourself and then judge if my promotion is justified!
